Borrowing the wording from Anniebach, this thread is for the
support, understanding and sharing of all mental health troubles.

Evening all.
I have had a happy day today. There I have said it. Things can come good. We must never give up hope. I don’t want to say too much in case someone picks up on who I am but I want the BDG to know that I have have had such worries in the past about a certain family member but today we had a lovely day together. I know there are always ups and downs but it was nice to know after all the trouble that there can be an up.
Joce I am hoping things are going to be ok for you too.
That is worrying about your daughters arm. The GP sounds less than helpful. I’m glad she is being seem though. Hope she gets some treatment that helps.
Nonnie pleased your ankle is on the mend. Hope these new hearing aids work well for you. It must be so frustrating not to be able to hear what people are saying.
Annie any news on your blinds yet.
Hope all the gang are ok .

Joce345 Mon 13-Sept-21 16:10:45

Nonnie glad your ankle is feeling better...

Joce345 Mon 13-Sept-21 16:09:50

My daughter has spoken with the GP this morning, he asked her to send him photos of it, she has waited all day for the GP to phone back and he’s asked her what she wants/ thinks she should do about it ??? She is now sat in the waiting room for him to look at it... you can feel the vain all the way up to her arm pit and it is very painful... what can one say to that?....

Hope everyone’s ok and having a good day

Nonnie Mon 13-Sept-21 11:06:11

Welcome Edith55. I hope this thread will help you as it does us.

Scardycat more proof that you need to change your name grin well done.

Joce what did 111 say when they called back? Hope your DD is getting better.

My ankle is fine now, just like a normal (for me) bite.

Having tried so hard to get used to my hearing aids and failed, one blocking my ear and the other too painful to wear all the time, I have just come back from the shop. New ones are so simple and already much easier to use. The first ones were for people who have difficulty putting them in! Once again it appears that I was treated for my age and not for me! Yes, I am old but I don't have all the issues others have and feel I should be treated as an individual. I am getting a bit fed up with assumptions being made about my age. It would be just as bad as if they assumed that all young people were fit. Rant over

Joce345 Sun 12-Sept-21 19:05:19

Hello Edith you are welcome..
Scared not sure what the bite is she but she’s is ill, the bite popped late morning but it’s a mess now, she has phoned 111 waiting for them to get back to her now, hopefully she will get some help her arm has swollen really bad from this morning it’s now up to her elbow, very red. Hope they phone her back soon. I’m worried because she does feel poorly she doesn’t complain but she doesn’t feel up to going to hospital....

It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed your trip...

Nonnie hope you are feeling better this afternoon..

Doodle how are you...

Annie have you managed to get some rest today....
Hugs for all ??

Doodle Sun 12-Sept-21 19:03:18

Annie I have my fingers crossed he knows what he’s doing but you haven’t had much luck with those blinds so far. We will wait and see.
I bet the view from the top of Snowdon was amazing Annie. I’ve only ever been about half way up as the railway was closed when we went and neither of us was fit enough to climb it like you.
Joce sorry about your daughters arm. That sounds really nasty. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon and get the inflammation under control. Doesn’t sound hopeful for the trip to Snowdon.
I think it’s a very popular destination this year.
Nonnie not making a fuss at all. Insect bites can be nasty and it sounds as though yours is very painful.
Please don’t scratch. I know the urge is great but it will make it worse in the end. Hope you are managing to sleep ok.
Edith hello. You are most welcome to join us. Have you been on GN long or are you a new poster?
Scaredycat good you had a nice trip away. It’s lovely to visit old haunts and take in the surroundings seeing what’s changed and reliving some nice memories.
Hope everyone is ok. Take care all. x

Scaredycat Sun 12-Sept-21 16:55:57

I meant all having the best day you can!!

Scaredycat Sun 12-Sept-21 16:55:09

Hi everybody
Annie - so glad your blinds will be fully functional soon- despite the incompetence of the first fitter!! There is no wonder you feel so tired - it’s one step forward and two steps back and still not getting proper bed rest. Hope you are managing to have a restful day today. My sister lives in a NP too but I don’t think it’s quite so busy as where you live.
Nonnie- I hope your swelling stays down now it must have been so uncomfortable. I think you are right to get moving a bit as it will do your circulation good. Mossies are my worst enemies for biting - at least at the moment with not going abroad we haven’t had that to worry about.
Joce- your poor daughter what kind of beastie attacked her? That bite sounds awful. Hope she manages to find a campsite and make her climb.
I hope too your worries have eased a bit.

We got back lunch time from our trip. It was lovely and very emotional. I have a great love for my home city and it was so good to be there again. Managed OK in the hotel - it was very busy but we did everything we could to be careful. I still feel very nervous but it is so nice to see people enjoying life again while they can. Felt better too which was a bonus.
I hope you are having the best day you canX

edith55 Sun 12-Sept-21 16:04:43

Hi I hope to be able to join in here x x

Nonnie Sun 12-Sept-21 12:46:32

Annie a step in the right direction. Hope you had a good sleep.

The Snowdon thing was on national news too.

Joce oh your poor daughter. Hope she gets some relief soon. DS and DiL are camping in Norfolk, near Thetford, this weekend and from the photo there seemed to be plenty of room. I would have expected it to be easier with the schools having gone back.

Having spent a day and a half lying on the sofa with my foot up I strongly suggest no one tries it. I have so many aches and pains this morning, did me no good at all. Planning to gently potter today and hope the swelling doesn't return. The whole foot and half way up my leg itches like mad. May sound like I am making a fuss but I have always been a bug magnate and am used to it, they often get inflamed but this is different.

Anniebach Sun 12-Sept-21 11:44:18

Joyce. On the Welsh news quite recently they filmed Snowdon, the number of people climbing was unbelievable, looked like swarms of ants.

Snowdonia is a National Park, I live in a National Park and the number of visitors has soared this year.

So sorry to learn of your daughters bite on her arm x

Joce345 Sun 12-Sept-21 10:40:04

Morning Annie no sorry it wouldn’t give me much confidence.
Hopefully they will get them sorted for you ASAP ...

My daughter doesn’t know if they will make Snowdon they are having problems getting somewhere to camp... but she has been in A&E all night with the bite on her arm, it is really swollen red lines going all over.. given her antibiotics but she can’t use it at the minute... it’s very painful some funny bugs about ....

If any one can recommend any camp sites she would appreciate it... think it’s just busy everywhere with people staying home this year...

Hope everyone had a good day...

Anniebach Sun 12-Sept-21 09:45:02

Hi all x

How is everyone?

nonnie hope your ankle is healing x

Joyce I climbed Snowdon , not recently x

The blinds, the chap came, read the instructions and said

‘Oh they need charging ‘. ! he took them away to charge them,
would anyone here feel confident if the chap employed to fit
remote control blinds didn’t know they need charging before
being fitted ?

Doodle Sat 11-Sept-21 20:50:00

Annie well at least they are fitted and hopefully the chap will be back early next week to sort them out.
I’m not surprised you are tired, everything seems to be an uphill struggle for you at the moment.
Joce try and keep yourself occupied to have a little relief from your worries. I hope all is well soon.
Nonnie oh dear sounds as though your nice day out at the NT was full of unpleasant surprises. Hope your bite heals soon.
Good job you had it looked at even by phone, however if it doesn’t show signs of improvement or indeed gets any worse or more swollen I would contact them again to check.
Hope you are being waited on. ?
joce your daughter too, what is going round at the moment. Hope she too feels better soon.
Have a good weekend all. x

Joce345 Sat 11-Sept-21 20:03:10

Annie there’s little wonder you are tired with everything you are having to deal with...
What I think you really need is your bed.. x

Nonnie there’s some strange bugs around my daughter has a nasty bite on her hand it is very red and swollen from her hand to her elbow I’ve told her she need to see someone...

Doodle hope all is good with you...

Have a good weekend all...
Wishing you all a peaceful nights sleep ?

Anniebach Sat 11-Sept-21 12:50:40

Hi all x

Chap came to fit the blinds, they need charging so he will charge them and come back next week.

I am so tired,

Nonnie Sat 11-Sept-21 10:57:59

AnnieGreat to hear your good news.

Thanks Doodle*. We live in an urban area but went walking round a National Trust and got attacked by a gate as well as the bug. Told one of the gardeners about the gate as the spring had the potential to really hurt someone.

I looked in 111, put in the details and was told to speak to GP same day. Of course that didn't happen but they asked fir a photo and got back to me, don't think it was a tic after all. However the swelling is really bad and doc prescribed cream and to sit with feet raised all weekend. Told DH he will have to wait on me grin

Joce345 Fri 10-Sept-21 21:44:55

Evening all Annie good news at last for you.. hope you are feeling better now... do you still have rain, we have...

Doodle I’m praying next week brings us some peace of mind, thank you...yes it’s very hot and muggy hear.

Nonnie poor you tic bites are not nice hope it’s feeling better now...

Scaredycat hope you are doing ok..

Love to all in the BDG have a peaceful night sleep all ?

Doodle Fri 10-Sept-21 17:31:46

Hurrah Annie can’t believe it. How did that happen?
I really hope it works well. Not surprised you’ve been down with all you have to contend with. Have a good weekend.
Joce it’s certainly raining here too. DH and I walked into the local sopping centre and got drenched on our way home. Very hot and muggy though.
Hope your daughter gets to Snowdon. It’s very popular this year and there are queues of people waiting to climb it.
Still praying whatever is causing you this anxiety is resolved soon and you can get some peace from the constant worry.
Nonnie you are certainly in the wars. Do you live in a rural area? I suppose you must do to get a sheep tick. Is it something you can deal with yourself or do you need to see a nurse. Sounds painful. Glad you had a good sleep. You obviously needed it.
Take care all the gang x

Anniebach Fri 10-Sept-21 15:29:45

Hi all x

Thank you all for your kindness , I was so down this week -

Window blind being fitted tomorrow.

How is everyone?

Nonnie Fri 10-Sept-21 11:05:41

Scardycat sorry the AF has been so bad but you seem to cope rather well under all the circumstances.

Enjoy your nostalgia trip.

Doodle thanks, sting is healing but has left a bruise. Now I have a sheep tic bite! Really itchy and feels like a huge blister. DH is going to look and see if the tic is still there but I can't get that close to my ankle..

Joce your anxiety sounds very tiring.

I slept until 0930 this morning! Such a long time since I had a catch up sleep. It was after a day of not doing a long walk, so counter intuitive.

Joce345 Thu 09-Sept-21 22:21:54

Annie it’s raining hear, I can’t understand what these people are doing besides nothing for you, it’s is disgusting how you are being treated.. shall I send my daughter round to sort them out She will be down your way next week. She is climbing Snowden..
Nonnie we never stop worrying about our children do we.
Scaredycat hope you can enjoy your day, have a good trip..
Doodle hope you are feeding less stressful now, and all is well for you..
I don’t feel like I have had a break from dam anxiety for weeks silly I know but has much has I try I can’t stop this awfully feeling..
Annie hope you see your MT soon she is so careful bless her she looks after you even when she’s not with you..
Hope everyone has a peaceful nights sleep ?

Doodle Thu 09-Sept-21 15:13:07

Annie you are very kind to them. I realise it’s a small business but you’ve been struggling with these blinds for a long time. Are they trying to find someone else to fit them for you?
It’s pouring with rain here too.
I was watching a BBC program on the iPlayer last night. Chris Packham and his step daughter Megan in around and on Snowdon. Lovely pictures and beautiful scenery.

Doodle Thu 09-Sept-21 15:10:02

Scaredycat I’m sorry your AF is bad again. Good the GP has reassured you but that doesn’t stop it being a stressful condition with the palpitations. I used to work with someone who had it and she found it very unsettling.
Oh I agree with your DH but as you say if only. Can’t stop thinking about possible scenarios and worrying about them.
It must be really hard for you on your birthday. Good you are taking a trip. Try and enjoy it. Lovely to visit your home town
Nonnie I have a sleep mask with headphones built in so I can listen to stuff without disturbing DH and the mask is flat and soft. Keeping the light out helps me sleep too.
Reading is good too. It always makes me tired.
Hope your son is ok. Sounds like a nasty sting from something.
It’s nice chatting with others when we are out. We’ve made many ‘friends’ like that

Anniebach Thu 09-Sept-21 13:42:37

Hi all x

Re the blinds, I am not going public about them, it’s a small
family business, this is a very rural area, they cannot be blamed
for the sub contractor leaving and small businesses have lost so
much because of the lockdowns. The nearest firm is 50 miles away . An electrician will not do the job, my brother employs
sub contractor electricians.

Thank you all for your kindness x

It’s raining in Mid Wales, yippee ?
