Germansheperdmum thank you for asking. I have just received telephone call from the occupational therapist who came yesterday, I am having two new doors ?.

We had a long discussion yesterday, I remained calm, my stomach didn’t ! , I didn’t demand , just explained my need to
go out. Had to take the wheelchair over the ramp, wheelchair
jammed .

She said ‘you need new doors but I very much doubt they will
fit two which is a pity you have a lovely garden,

It will take sometime but she is hoping before end of summer.

Sometimes when I,m awake in the night worrying I tell myself there is nothing Ican do about anything in the middle of the night so just sleep- sounds easy ha ha!!!

JBP most certainly you can. We are not a clique or a closed shop it’s just that we have a small number of regular posters, some who post now and then and others when they need/want too. If we seem like we know each other it’s because we have been posting for a while but anyone and everyone is welcome.
We just support each other and anyone who joins us. We don’t provide solutions but we listen to each other. Are you new to GN? Hope to hear from you again soon ?
Annie I had no idea your sight was so bad in one eye.
I am thinking about tomorrow too. Common sense is all that is needed by the council but they haven’t shown much so far. Put the agoraphobia on the back burner and worry about that if and when the door problem is sorted. Don’t worry about the dogs, at least they are friendly. Is there a chance your brother may be able to be there too to help out?
I do really hope this time the outcome is good.

Nonnie so pleased you got your hearing aid back ? I don’t think there is a secret to the flitting mind but I have three times today made myself stick to doing one thing till I finished it and not allowing myself to get sidetracked. Also last night i went to bed and normally my mind starts going over the day or tomorrow or something but I tried hard not to let my mind concentrate if you know what I mean. It’s a new thing for me in that if I have a concern I niggle at it but I am trying to think to myself that I have been over this so many times it is now time to sleep. Not sure if it will work but it’s worth a try.

Ellie Anne glad you had some company on your walk and you found your way back. Oh how I know that feeling of worrying yourself to bits thinking one thing only to find out you worried for nothing and it wasn’t true or didn’t happen. How many times have I done the same. I still do it. Think about things that might happen. Sorry your DD is so tired but glad things are ok between you.

Hi. Annie I do hope you can get some help. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be shut in one room
I managed to get lost today on my walk. I took a different path and ended up lost. I met a couple with a dog and it turned out that they were lost too. In the end we all went back the way I had come and found our way back but it was a longer walk than I’d intended!
Got myself really upset last night thinking my daughter was angry with me but it turned out she’d been working yesterday till one in the morning.
She sounds exhausted today.

I would love to join in with this group,but you seem to be a closed shop! May I join you?

Joce sometimes 'plodding ' is all we can do. Keep it up and just live in the moment. Things will change and we will be here when you need us.

Annie please don't give up on any aspect of improving your life. Fight, fight fight, never give in. Yes, easy for me to say but if you give in what have you got? Hope I haven't overstepped the mark, trying to offer support.

Won't be on here again for a while as family are now in UK and on their way here. Let the fun begin, don't know who is the most excited!

Gosh, my mind is like a like a gale force wind Doodle isn’t it
exhausting ?

Since May I have been waiting for a home eye test, two years overdue and can see very little from one eye.

Having a remote control blackout blind fitted in living room , have to keep one curtain closed all day and open and close the other with a sweeping brush, the firm keep changing dates.

Trying to accept the head of Enablement will not help me get use to wheelchair even though occupational therapist referred me to her.

Front and back doors, meeting tomorrow, will I be able to get
out of bungalow or not, been in living room 24 hours a day for
6 months.

And with all this going on, what do I do with my dogs who think anyone coming into the bungalow is going to play with them. Mini Tornado is working full time in a temp job so can’t
come up to help. I wake in night trying to work it all out.

Add to this is the fact that if I am able to get out the doors there is the agoraphobia to over come !

When you think of Snowdon remember this agoraphobic climb to the top ?.

Just been for a long walk and now I have sore feet and am exhausted. It was a lot warmer than I thought it would be.
Joce it’s nice to hear from you. Glad you popped in. Sorry to hear you have internet troubles. We rely so much on the internet these days it’s such a pain when things aren’t working as they should. I too hope your troubles are sorted soon

Scaredycat I’ve been watching bits of the olympics too.
Our visit to Snowdonia was by coach from the ship and yes we did have to wear masks all the time. It was a warmish day so not too pleasant and we didn’t get to stop at all which was a big disappointment. I love Snowdonia and we have been through the Llanberris pass before so know how beautiful it is. It was more of a whistle stop tour really.
The sea was lovely. Very calm and not rough at all. It was very Misty around Scotland so didn’t see much and no stopping.
I hate it when my mind is going over and over things. Sometimes thinking things over can be helpful but other times it just seems to cause more anxiety. I am trying hard to slow myself and my mind down a bit. I realise I have become a flitter. I flit from one thing to another ending up doing half a dozen jobs at a time and my mind is working overtime. I am making a conscious effort to do one thing and finish it and to slow down my thoughts by saying to myself I’ve gone through this enough, time to calm down. Needless to say it’s a work in progress ?. Hope all the gang are ok x

Doodle- yep plodding on as best I can. Really enjoying the Olympics - what great young people they all are.
Lucky you visiting Snowdonia - it so deserves its WH status.Was it a coach trip from the boat? Did you have to wear masks on the coach and boat? I so miss being on the sea.
Love the mental picture of you and Nonnie bopping away and ironing. I have got very lazy re ironing - a good fold works wonders.
Annie- good luck with the Tuesday visit from OT and council. It would be good if your brother could be there too. Sending a hug
Nonnie- hope you managed to trace the missing hearing aid- yes the masks are a pain with any thing on your ears. I always wear small earrings and they can flick out when you take the mask off.? not to mention steaming up glasses.
Is tomorrow first day of the big visit.? If it is I hope you all have a brilliant time together.

Woke very early this morning with a mind in overdrive. So hard to shut it up once it starts and worries pop in one after another. Just have to talk some sense to myself! Easier said than done.
But then had a walk and coffee with DD while DH was at Golf. I am so,lucky to have her nearby and it really cheered me up.

Nonnie sorry about your hearing aid, what a nuisance. Hope you find it. I didn’t think many shops still did minimum spend. Perhaps it was quite a small shop. Difficult though as we don’t seem to be handling money these day.

iPad got problems- again x

Doodle I have a steam generator iron and it is so good I have to iron without my specs as they steam up!

Lost one of my hearing aids yesterday so this morning will trace my steps and ask in the local shops They really are a pain with glasses and masks.

I was surprised yesterday to be told there was a minimum spend on my credit card in a local shop, thought that had stopped with the pandemic. It is a shop I really don't feel comfortable in since it changed hands, the door handle is dirty so I feel the shop must be. Usually only go in for the post office but wanted something Spar didn't have. I said I was sorry but would not buy anything then. Silly but felt like I had made a point.

Another day of preparation for the family coming, couldn't be more excited. GC have decided what they want on their cakes and who they want to help them do it. DH miffed that he wasn't chosen

Annie I really hope the OT and Council get their act together this time. Will your brother be there with you?
Yes I read today about Snowdonia becoming a world heritage site, not surprised, it’s so beautiful in its own unique way. I have been to the slate mine there years ago. Fascinating place.
Nonnie I haven’t done any baking for ages. Funny you should say that about listening to the radio when ironing. I have quite a fancy steam iron (can’t hold a normal ones as my wrists aren’t strong enough). It works well but makes quite a lot of noise with the steam coming out. DH is going to buy me some wireless earphones to wear when I’m ironing so I can listen to music or watch things on the iPad.
You are so right about us as parents. I certainly don’t think I did a good job but we do the best we can mostly.
GSM I do hope you feel you can pop in here and post whenever you like.

Scardycat no, haven't made the cakes yet as no freezer space and localish DS doesn't have any either. Planning to make a fruit cake today because it will keep. Visiting DS is very nostalgic so I am making what I used to call 'Bratfiller' when they were all at home. Chuck in whatever is around and needs using up!

Toying with going to look in Cook and cheat on the birthday cakes, see how I feel. I have bought toppers so can convert if I get lazy. I have made character cakes in the past but decided Paw Patrol and Big dipper are a bit beyond me!

Doodle do you listen to the radio when Ironing? I have just down ours bopping to Boom radio. It was quite enjoyable.

Ellie Anne and all of us There is no such thing as a perfect parent, we all 'fail'. All we can do is our best at the time and if it is not 'good enough' so be it. When our children are adults they have to make their own choices and their own mistakes and they will make them just as we did. Blaming ourselves is pointless as we can't change anything. My attitude has become to 'kill people with kindness' and then let them get on with it. If it doesn't work because of their attitude we simply have to accept it, not blame ourselves. That paragraph makes me feel like Doodle's wise words
