Arch Support

If you want to be sure of an expert fitting, I'd go to a podiatrist. Otherwise maybe a sport shoe store where you can get evaluated and can try before you buy? If it doesn't feel right, you don't have to buy. I think buying online is a gamble.

Had a phone conversation with one of my cousins, who told me she was having serious pain and mobility problems due to pain in a foot. Her GP had put this down to her wearing slippers for so much of the time during the past year (obvious reasons). Most of these give no support to feet.
As this cousin is similar age to myself, I have now splashed out for a pair of slippers which give heel and arch support.

I was suffering with painful feet. I went to a specialist sports shoe shop where they measured my feet and watched me walk on a treadmill. They tried several pairs of trainers and made me walk on the treadmill each time. The 4th pair were the ones I bought. Not cheap but worth every penny. I can now walk around 6 km a day with no pain. Bliss.

Yes, he should have referred you to a podiatrist but I dont know how long you would have to wait fior an appointment and only telephone appointments are being offered in our area. Not much use when you need someone to assess your needs.

You may find that trainers help, not the soft kind but a firmer one. The arch support will stay put and also support your foot.
Otherwise stick some velcro on the bottom of the support and in your shoe to stop it slipping.

Why did the GP not recommend a full length support?

I have the similiar problem some years ago attended hospital to see a specialist. Basically I was told there is nothing that could be done. It flares up now and again so I tried different products Body and Base TM heel Orthotics shoe insoles. Space age memory foam heel support from Amazon. Both are helpful but sometimes I have to keep off my feet it's so painful. I hope you find something that makes it easier for you.

Hi I know I am coming into this a bit late but I have the same issue, the podiatrist recommended these from amazon, they push the weight to the outer side of the foot relieving strain on the fallen arch

You take out the clarks foot bed or Sketcher trainer and dop these in.
Also I habe Romika slippers which support and can be washed but need to be washed alot so not sure how they will last, I have just ordered a pair of Giesswein - got a 10% discount subscribing to their online newsletter, they also wask so I will see how I fair with these.

I have an ongoing back problem and was advised to wear arch supporting footwear. I have bought a pair of Vionic slippers because I wear them in the house and haven’t been going out much. I also bought a pair of Vionic boots and a pair of loafers. The boots have insoles which remove very easily and can be used in other shoes or boots. Vionic also do insoles. I bought my Vionic footwear from QVC and Amazon at sale prices. Skechers also do a range of arch support footwear. It is early days but I think the change of footwear is helping, especially the slippers.

13Nana they look similar to the NHS ones I have from the Podiatry service free of charge although it could be a wait to be seen.
They really need to be adjusted to help your particular problems.
