Is anybody on flouxatine and how long have you been on it for ?

Yes, I think I’ve been taking it for about 4 years now. I did try coming off it but I felt awful.

I’ve been taking Fluoxetine on and off for the last twenty years. I think it’s also known as Prozac. I had problems getting used to it - felt very drowsy and disorientated to start with, but that got better. It’s important to have regular GP check ups whilst taking it, as it can have some physical side effects in some people. Coming off it is difficult as withdrawal can make you feel very sick, but as long as you follow GP guidelines on gradual withdrawal you should be fine. I find it the best of the SSRI’s for me and usually lifts my mood within a few weeks of starting it.

I have been on it for about 20 years and thought this is too long. Feel ashamed that I have needed it for so long. Wonder if it’s time to try without it.

I wake up ( when I can get so sleep ) in a panic and very anxious which takes most of the day to settledown.

Do not feel ashamed - you would not feel that way if you were taking daily insulin for diabetes. Shame is absolutely not appropriate here.
