Angiogram and recovery time

They tried to go in through my wrist after I had a heart attack, but it didn't work and I ended up with a stent inserted through my groin.

I had bruising in both my groin area and wrist. It took a couple of weeks for the bruising in both areas to go.

I am very slight and never expected them to use the wrist. It still hurts if I make certain movements so I stiil rely on my left arm.

However my left arm is starting to ache now so that's why I am trying to find out how long the wrist can take to recover.

Unfortunately, you'll just have to be patient. It does go in time, but I must admit it looked fairly horrific at the time. My forearm and most of one leg were completely black. Were you given anti-clotting medication as well?

Part of the inside of my hand and the inside of my forearm are yellow and purple, though getting paler now.

I was given anti-platelet medication up to the day of the angiogram but don't need it now as no stents needed.

All I take now are statins and 75mg aspirin a day to keep the blood thin.

Desperately hoping to be able to give my left arm a rest soon.

The anti-platelet medication will probably still be having some effect and that makes bruising worse. The yellow and purple are probably the end of the bruising.

PS. Your cholesterol is much higher than mine has ever been, but I still developed a clot. I guess you've been given dietary advice about avoiding atherosclerosis.

Sorry for delay in replying growstuff. Did you have deposits in your coronary arteries with lower cholesterol than mine?
I am relying on the statins to keep my cholesterol low. It was down to 1.3 on the day of my angiogram. I already eat a diet low in saturated fat and have been for years but my under-active thyroid may have caused my cholesterol level to be on the high side.

I'm not sure that the deposits in my arteries have ever been tested. My serum triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels are OK. My serum HDL cholesterol is a bit too low.

The reason for an angiogram was a heart attack, which was caused by a blockage.
