Hip injection ( gone a bit wrong ?)

I have the same situation, both after injection and after hip replacement.

I am struggling to walk very much at present. Hip very painful. I cannot seem to get any help.

Oh dear Luckygirl. I am sorry. I also struggle to walk and havnt been out. Now considering replacement hip.
You say you are still in pain post op. What have your doctors said?

I have had injections for neck foot and knee in the past which gave short lived relief. Three unsuccessful ops on my wrist and hands. My problem with my left hip accelerated pretty quick. I was not given the option for injection but THR seven weeks after X-ray.
I was told I need an operation on my knee and right hip. I will pass on them. I am in constant pain but I am not going down that route ever again.

I said the same after my hysterectomy left me with a short vagina and painful sex. I was told that at my age it surely wasn't a problem (but that's another story).
But then I was persuaded to have a "little procedure" for carpal tunnel a year ago - the pain's not debilitating nor does it affect my life much - but its still painful.

I just couldn't let this go and I'm not in right frame of mind right now to do that so forgive me. I don't want to hijack this thread. ExDancer I so sympathise with what you've said. So angry for you and all women. Where do some of these people come from. That should never have been implied, let alone said! I'm so sorry.
I'm 65 and bleeding, proper light to moderate bleeding, every 3n half weeks lasting 4 dys because of idiot Gynaecologist and company. May need further surgery and also considering private counselling as NHS won't help there either!

Husband had successful hip replacement and 4 hand operations with good outcomes. He also had steroid hip injection with relief for 4 yrs. So Silverlining48 you have been unlucky, though steroid injections can't be guaranteed to alleviate pain. So sorry to hear of others pain and failed procedures.
To anyone reading these stories and considering surgery please read other threads about successful hysterectomies. There are many on Gransnet who are happy with their surgeries.

I had a steriod injection, not into the hip joint but into the muscle in that area as i had inflamation along with joint pain.
Apparently the injection into the joint is more involved as they need imaging to see where the needle is going. At first i didnt feel any different but now it is wonderful, the early morning stiffness has reduced ...a lot. It's still there but not nearly so bad. A side effect, but a good one, was that the contact dermatitis that i have with both hands has totally disappeared, also the same with my ears. I always had really sore ears with lots of dry scaly skin i think it is because of my hearing aids, anyway that has disappeared too. Win win all round for me.
