Hello, I wonder if any one is suffering with this ailment. I am eighty. Have been treated at a variety of hospitals over a period of ten years. First surgery carried out in 2003. Am between a rock and a hard place. Can have a colostomy at a private BMI hospital for £25,000, or wait indefinitely on the NHS waiting list with no date for the foreseeable. Every day is a challenge. I appreciate that there are countless people far worse off than I am. I would however be most grateful of any first hand information that can help me to manage this dire situation. Thank you.

I'm hoping Elegran can forward the link to me. It doesn't really matter how many times people receive the link if it means the net is cast wider and wider.

Marydoll Wed 01-Dec-21 09:49:36

That's what I think AVELINE. Elegran has the email addresses of the Edinburgh grand.

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 10:25:03

Aren't you rushing out of the trap here before the starting gun has gone, Marydoll? We don't even have the link yet, and there's many a slip twixt cup and lip.

I am very happy to pass on the information to anyone who wants it, when and if I get it, but compiling a list at this stage seems a little premature to me.

Aveline Wed 01-Dec-21 10:37:57

I look forward to hearing from you Elegran when you are in a position to share the link.

Urmstongran Wed 01-Dec-21 10:39:00

Good point Elegran.

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 10:42:12

Will do, Aveline, and anyone else who asks me for it. A pm to me (click on "Private Message" just above any of my posts) will reach me.

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 11:07:51

An aside - These forums can be read by any Tom Dick or Harry with an internet connection and an itchy nose. This means that posting on the open thread that you would like the link to Soop's fundraiser does mean that Tom Dick and Harry also know that you are up for donating, which could expose you to pleas from others. If you are OK with that, that is fine.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Dec-21 11:11:44

I’m sure I’m being thick Elegran, but surely Tom, Dick and Harry can only message us via GN (and can be blocked), they have no means of accessing our email addresses even if we share them by PM?

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 11:46:17

Yes, they can only PM us, but they could be a nuisance even so.

Jaxjacky Wed 01-Dec-21 11:50:59

Gofundme type soop in search box

It’s live

muse Wed 01-Dec-21 11:52:49

Found it thanks Jax. Very easy. Donation made.

Well done

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 12:34:50

A Happy Christmas to all who have so far expressed an interest in being kept informed. I think I have PMed you all, and you will probably receive duplicate PMs from others.

I'll answer later requests by PM as they appear.

We're off, Soop!

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 12:38:34

£1,590 in an hour. A good start! Keep going!

brook2704 Wed 01-Dec-21 12:40:45

Thanks Jax ?

Grandmajean Wed 01-Dec-21 12:42:55

I posted on the Kitchen thread Jax and Muse but happy to mention here too that I have found site and donated.

Aveline Wed 01-Dec-21 12:45:42

And we're off! Hope things proceed quickly.

Kali2 Wed 01-Dec-21 12:46:15

Please send me the link too.

merlotgran Wed 01-Dec-21 12:51:43

Thank you, Jax

But only signed up members can access, send or receive PMs and while one could join for that purpose I don’t think “any Tom Dick or Harry” would bother.
And even if random members attempt to plead for donations, deleting them and blocking after reporting to HQ is all it needs.

Elegran Wed 01-Dec-21 13:13:06

Agreed to all that, Maw, but there is still a nuisance factor.

LauraNorderr Wed 01-Dec-21 13:22:21

Thank you Jax and Muse for the info. Easy to find, just googled gofundme as you instructed, typed in soop and there it was, simples. No need for pms or any other complication.
I did note that all the donations so far are very generous and hope that doesn’t put off any who can’t afford such largesse.
If 5 of us give £20 that’s £100 raised in minutes.
If 10 of us give £10 that’s £100
If 20 of us give £5 that’s another £100
We can choose to give anonymously so let’s all give what we can afford.
Thanks again to Muse and Jax for making it easy.
Good luck soop

Urmstongran Wed 01-Dec-21 14:05:34

The GFM site is very easy to navigate. I agree with your sentiments LauraNorder. Well put.

Nannagarra Wed 01-Dec-21 14:06:27

Thank you so much for the info about soop’s fund raiser muse and Jaxjacky. You’ve made it quite straight forward, easy to understand and readily accessible for us all.

Aldom Wed 01-Dec-21 14:35:06

Every possible good wish for the success of the Go fund me fund raiser for Soop. Hope many more will donate towards your operation Soop. Just donated. Happy Christmas and many of them smile

Granniesunite Wed 01-Dec-21 14:48:38

So easily done. I’m chuffed I managed it….

Thanks to Marydoll and Elegran for link.
