New partial denture after extraction

The two front crowns that lasted 40 years had finally given up and the dentist had to extract the roots. He had already made a mould for the denture which he then inserted. It did feel a bit odd, but I soon got used to it and am soon to have my 'permanent' denture now that the gums have shrunk. I'm far too old (and too poor!) to have implants and besides my dentist doesn't think the bones would take them. To paraphrase an old song:
'All I want for Christmas is my new front teeth'.

I had all my top set out in one go. I had a partial denture fitted and was told to take it out the next day to clean it then put it back in. However, try as I might, I couldn't put it back. My upper gum was like Tesco's meat counter and extremely painful. I rang the dental unit and was told to leave it for a day or two, which I did and it caused no problems going forward. I really feel for you.

i've just had a permanent bridge put in on the right lower side. I thought I would be able to feel it once it's in but I can't. I'm really pleased. I chose it because implants are so expensive.

I had a similar experience but kept it in apart from rinsing with salt water. Perhaps give dentist a ring for advice? Hated my partial denture but it was a necessity until I had my implants. Rinsing mouth with salt water really helped the healing process. Ive just had a molar extracted two days ago so I’m back to the salt water rinses - no denture this time nor implant.

I hated it but I did persevere and keep it in as I was told. It did take a while to get used to them.

After 5 teeth being removed from my top set on Thursday (I'm having implants next year) am trying to get to grips with my new partial denture. It feels as though it is ripping the gums of the extraction site when I try to put it in. Will the world stop turning if I leave it out another day to let the sites heal or should I persevere? I'm not a wimp but it really does make my eyes water. Have got a review on Friday with my dentist. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do?
