This thread is for support, understanding and sharing of all
mental health troubles.

Hi all x

So much suffering being reported on the news and press is affecting many , I share this John Wesley quote with you -

“ Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."

I am increasing calories slowly, 400 yesterday and today , will up them more tomorrow.

David the daffodil is on the sofa ready for ???????

How is everyone?

HowVeryDareYou Fri 04-Feb-22 21:48:53

I hope everyone has managed to have a decent day. I had my chest CT scan, it didn't take long at all. Results in a few weeks. I had a 'phone call today about some mental health counselling - I've got my first face-to-face appointment on Wednesday, so I'll see how that goes.

Nonnie - enjoy (if that's the right thing to say) the volunteering. I've signed up to be a Call Companion, I'm waiting to hear when I can get started.

*It's nice to go out and have coffee and cake, isn't it? I hope you and your husband manage to sleep better though.

Scaredycat Sorry to hear about your daughter's cat. They are part of the family, and it's so sad when they die.

Anniebach So pleased your blood tests came back fine. Hope the GP now sorts the problem and that you can start eating more.

Shinamae There are some terrible things happening all over the world. I tend to dwell on some of the awful stories too, so I try not to read about them too much. I try to remember that there are still many, many good people around, and I think of things to look forward to - lighter nights, better weather, time with the grandchildren, getting out more.

I hope everyone has a good weekend x

Oh Annie good news about your bloods. What happens now about your diet. Has the Gp given any help?
Not surprised you think of your daughter every day. I think of all mine too. It’s what we mums do isn’t it.
It’s my DGDs 16 th this weekend. How did she get so grown up.
Scaredycat so sorry for your DD. It is sad to lose a well loved pet. They give such unconditional love and affection.
We used to go to M&S for coffee when we walked into town but haven’t done it since lockdown started. Funny enough DH suggested we go into town next week and have a coffee and cake in M&S before coming back……..I may get to do some shopping too ?
Have a peaceful and calm weekend all. x

Shinamae Fri 04-Feb-22 16:31:40

Thank you all for your kind replies ???

Scaredycat Fri 04-Feb-22 16:12:53

EllieAnne- so sorry you still feel so down I,m glad you have a friend to go out with and hope you are able sometimes to talk to her about how you feel. It takes it out of you so much hiding how you really feel.Hope you feel better today.
HVDY- your day centre sounds like fun- it’s nice having something different to do plus not having to cook - win win!!
I hope your scan goes well ,you must have suffered such a lot with Covid it’s good you are having your lungs checked over.
Sweetpeasue- glad you had a nice peaceful day yesterday- you are right uneventful is not to be sneezed at!
Shinamae-It does sometimes seem that there is nothing good in the news but bad news sells papers and the good stuff gets missed. Most of it we cannot change so trying to concentrate on those we love and being there for them as best we can helps.
Nonnie- hope you have had a good days volunteering. You will be missed while you are away so hope that
wherever you are and whatever you are doing you will stay safe and well. Take care
Annie- well done for keeping on at your surgery- it is not good enough. As you say what constitutes an emergency! I hope they have been able to help you this afternoon - you must feel so weak.
Such a poignant day for you today- how you must miss your lovely daughter.
Doodle- yes bedtime routine suits us both. D H is a bit snory so it’s better to be asleep before him- not easy with a mind that never shuts up. I had never heard of restless body Syndrome before it must be so debilitating no wonder your DH likes to go for walks. You had a good one today- do you have a coffee in town before walking back?
My daughter is sad today as they had to have their dear little cat put to sleep yesterday . He was 17 and her constant companion whilst working from home . Knowing she is sad makes me sad too - it’s not like when they were little and a sweetie would make it better is it.
Annie- just seen the good news about your tests. Thank goodness now perhaps they can sort out your dietary problems. Xxxx

Anniebach Fri 04-Feb-22 14:16:07

Blood tests all clear thank heaven .

Yes Doodle I miss her every day x

Doodle Fri 04-Feb-22 13:50:31

Sweetpeasue sounds like you had a busy day yesterday. I agree the news is not pleasant these days. More bad than good.
Reading is always a comfort. I love a good book.
Shinamae sounds as though you are in a low place. I don’t know if you have faith or not but for me, when I read of terrible things like little Star then I think at least now she’s safe with God and peaceful. I too get very upset at the thought of children suffering, any kind of bullying or anger affects me too.
I try to remember that news tends to feature bad things rather than good. Instead I look at the people out and about and see mums and dads playing with their children. See a little one taking their first steps and realise there is a lot of good in the world too. There are many kind people around and lots of love and caring….it just doesn’t make for news in the press.
Nonnie we will miss you. Hope your volunteering goes well. It sounds as though you are taking on quite a lot being away 10 days. Take care and keep safe.
Annie good for you sticking to your guns and getting an appointment. I hope they have finally got your results. You cannot carry on like this.
An emotional day for you. I’m sure you miss your daughter so much. flowers
Not much nutrition in rice cakes. Hope there is an answer to your problem soon.. x

Anniebach Fri 04-Feb-22 09:58:08

Hi all x

Shinamae welcome, much to cause tears on the news now, and we feel helpless x

Nonnie thank you, 10 days ? you will be missed x

Ellie Ann loved the snowdrops, thank you so much x

So, phoned for results yesterday, not been read phone back, did so, not been fully read yet ring tomorrow , phoned this morning , not been fully read yet phone this afternoon.

I asked to speak to a doctor, ‘sorry emergencies only today’
I asked ‘is only eating 100 calories a day for 10 days because I
am waiting for treatment not an emergency?’ Got a telephone
appointment’.
Yes 100 calories = 4 rice cakes.

My darling daughter’s birthday today, I miss her so much .

How is everyone?

Nonnie Fri 04-Feb-22 09:20:12

Oh Annie hope the tests come back soon flowers

Doodle that sounds unbearable, hope GP helps. I sorted mine out by being in a position to tell GP what I wanted!

Thanks Scardycat easy peasy on this occasion. No sleep was worse.

Thanks Sweetpeasue as above, this time it was easy.

Good to hear you have had another better day, gives hope to all.

Ellie Anne just be kind to yourself and patient, like Sweetpeasue you may have better days soon.

HVDY good to read that you are getting out and doing things, not so good about the lungs though.

Welcome Shinamae I agree the world is gloomy and I don't feel that people get the support they should. I have been known to cry at the news.

Sorry to be so brief everyone, got to start on our volunteering now. Will be away for about 10 days from tomorrow so will try to catch up when I get back. Won't have a laptop .

Shinamae Fri 04-Feb-22 08:57:41

Sorry to come on here and be so gloomy but it’s just the way I feel at the moment. Children being murdered by their parents and that’s still going on all over the country, probably the world. gas and electricity prices rising beyond all reason, cost of living going through the roof. The main thing that I can’t let go of is that little girl Star,I can’t stop thinking about her and every time I do I cry. Anyway sorry to be so down but thought this best place to post.

Sweetpeasue Thu 03-Feb-22 19:36:44

Ellie Anne It can feel very alienating to put a face on while feeling very low. I'm not sure what is worse--withdrawing from others or attempting to be with others but you have made the effort and this time it might not have payed off. But you did get some lovely snowdrop photos. I'm so sorry, I really do hope you feel brighter tomorrow.

HVDY I've had quite an uneventful day. Washed curtains, pottered around, done some/lots of reading and watched the blooming news! Last one not advisable. Uneventful suits me right now.
I do hope the CT scan shows some improvement. I would imagine it will take some time before you're fully recovered. Hope it's good news for you.
Doodle That sounds exhausting for both of you. I believe we can all benefit by staying with one GP but not easy to do and impossible at times. I'm sure your husband will find more comfort and reassurance with his own. It's a very worrying time for both of you. Hope you both get a better rest tonight--one that is at least less disturbed. X

Doodle Thu 03-Feb-22 18:52:43

I’m glad you don’t get it more frequently. DH finds it very stressful as once it starts it happens every night. He’s so tired he can hardly put one foot in front of the other but even so he cannot sit or lay down due to the irritation.

Doodle Thu 03-Feb-22 18:50:52

Hope all goes well with your scan and that you are improving.

HowVeryDareYou Thu 03-Feb-22 18:50:48

Doodle I probably get RLS once or twice a month, and when it happens, I get up and walk about upstairs for a while.

Doodle Thu 03-Feb-22 18:50:09

Sorry * HVDY* I missed your second post.
The centre sounds a good place to go. It’s good for us to mix with others and have something to occupy us. Glad it’s a friendly place. The food sounds good too ?

Doodle Thu 03-Feb-22 18:48:01

Scaredycat does a bedtime routine help you? Because DH suffers from restless body syndrome he is often up walking around. Late evening and overnight. I tend to go to bed when he does but I seldom fall asleep quickly. My mind seems to be on a permanent loop of thoughts.
Thank you for kind thoughts for DH. We spoke to the surgery this morning and they agreed DH could write down his concerns and they will give the GP the information when she is in next week. His treatment has been quite complicated so he finds it helpful to talk to the same GP.
We walked into town and back today. About 3 miles and I was pleased I did it without feeling too exhausted. Must try and improve. Hope you had a good day.
Ellie Anne what a kind and thoughtful gesture for Annie . Snowdrops are lovely.
Sorry you are still feeling down. Did it help chatting with your friend or do you keep your feelings bottled up inside? I find it difficult to let others know what I’m thinking. I’m a very private person.
HVDY thank you for your thoughts. Do you still suffer from RLS often. Once DHs starts it every day.
Hope you have had a good day too.
Annie we are all thinking of you. Hope you are ok. Much love and snowdrops x

HowVeryDareYou Thu 03-Feb-22 18:41:39

went to a day centre (I hate that term) today. Been going for a few weeks now. It's friendly, they do quizzes and Bingo, often an activity. The meals are good - fish pie then trifle today - and it gives me other people to talk to.

I've got to go for a CT scan of my chest tomorrow teatime, apparently, my lungs aren't clear yet, after having Covid last July (I was on a ventilator for 2 weeks). I've certainly had my money's worth of NHS treatment hmm

HowVeryDareYou Thu 03-Feb-22 18:36:58

Anniebach Do you mean you're having 1000 calories per day? 100 cannot be right.
Doodle I hope your husband gets the treatment he needs. I've had Restless Leg Syndrome for some years, and that's bad enough when it starts - but the whole body must be awful.
Nonnie How are you today?
Sweetpeasue How's your day been?
EllieAnne I think those of us with depression know what that feels like. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you

Ellie Anne Thu 03-Feb-22 18:23:12

It takes about half an hour to walk to the woods but today I was in the car as if been for coffee with a friend and wasn’t feeling like going home.
My black cloud isn’t lifting at all.
I feel as if I have been putting on a face all week .

Sweetpeasue Thu 03-Feb-22 17:51:09

Nonnie I'm sorry to hear about your upset. I do hope your GP was able to reassure you and that the problem was not too serious. It's always difficult to sleep when we are worrying.
Doodle That restless body syndrome sounds horrible and must be very wearisome. It must also be upsetting to witness. My husband used to have the restless leg thing at night but hasn't for a while. We do all need our GPS so much more as we get older don't we? Seem to have spells when we're OK then something else comes along.
Oh Annie It's taking ages for you to be sorted. Hope the Dr's get blood test results soon. You have so much to put up with, you must be fed up of the rice cakes. Such low cal intake is not good. Our thoughts are all very much with you.
HVDY Glad you had a nice afternoon with your granddaughters and son yesterday. Look after yourself too, you've been through so much.
Thankyou Ellie Anne for the snowdrop photos. I've never seen a wood carpeted in so many like that. Really beautiful, I hope you don't need to walk too far to that wood. Also that the dark cloud over you is lifting.
Have had another decent day. Not too much anxiety. I just want everyone to feel better and hope you can get the help you need soon. Thinking of you all and sending best wishes that things will better.

Ellie Anne Thu 03-Feb-22 16:15:47

These are for you Annie.

Scaredycat Thu 03-Feb-22 15:26:54

Nonnie- I,m sorry you are feeling unwell and hope you are able to have a helpful and productive consultation with your GP.
I too find a regular bedtime routine helps but it’s not easy when you have a problem buzzing around in your head as you have at the moment.
I hope you have a better sleep tonight.
HVDY- yes I have AF which is sometimes hard to deal with mentally as well as physically but I mainly just try and get on with it with the help of medication.
Hope you enjoyed your quiet hours at home.
Annie- no wonder you feel so unwell ,100 calories daily will not provide you with the nutrition and electrolytes you need. I do hope the results come through a.s.a.p I can’t understand why they don’t prioritise you. Sending you lovexx
Doodle- hope your DH can see his GP soon- his condition must be so exhausting.
Take care allx

Doodle Thu 03-Feb-22 12:42:59

Annie I was wondering if you were unwell or had internet troubles. Sorry to hear it’s the former.
I’m glad at last you have had the blood tests, I think that should have happened earlier. Hope the results will give some idea of what’s causing your problems and you can get some help.
Surely you need more than 100 calories to survive. Is there nothing else you can have? That’s terrible. Little gentle cwtch from me x

Doodle Thu 03-Feb-22 12:40:09

Nonnie we are trying to get a GP appointment for DH too. His restless body syndrome (like restless legs but all over) is getting worse again.
Hope you manage to speak to a helpful GP and get your problems sorted.

Anniebach Thu 03-Feb-22 11:44:12

Hi all x

Haven’t forgotten you , feeling really unwell, had blood tests
yesterday, so hope results be back today, 100 calories a day leaves one so tired
