I meant cold!
Anniebach I think it's awful that you should even have to consider getting private physiotherapy. The NHS is so very flawed. I hope you've managed to have some cold drinks today.
SweetpeaSue. Sorry to hear that your problems are still going on. I too had a thickened womb lining and had to have biopsies. I was given hormone tablets (can't remember the name) and also various tablets to stop the terribly heavy periods I had at the time (5 years of it). I think the NHS is in such a bad state (far too many people using it) that things don't get dealt with as they should be.
I hate this heat! I've been indoors all day, apart from hanging out the washing. I'm very wheezy and my chest is very tight, despite using my inhaler a lot. I get like this every time I have a clod. I hope it'll be better tomorrow but I'll ring the GP if not. I hope everyone is managing ok today x
Annie So wrong if you have to go private though I know the NHS is struggling to provide services. It's dreadful. I hope you can get a physio appt soon. It's not good that you're confined to the sofa and you should be getting the help you need as that ankle may get weaker. It makes me angry and sad that your quality of life is suffering so. In answer to your question, my transit XRay is this Friday. Hope you're coping in these silly temps.
HVDY Your bbcue foods sounded delicious. What a treat for everyone. Hope your cold is a little better today.
* Scaredycat * Yes , even the air is hot. Roll on Wednesday.
Doodle My DH is not as able to walk as far after his hip op. The last wasn't as successful as his first. I hope you get some help from your GP for your husband when you return. It's so frustrating losing fitness and agility as we get older but it's not something we should accept too easily, I believe and so often we are having to fight for things now the NHS waiting lists are much longer. Enjoy your time away.
Tummy still not right, no sleep. Rang and pestered for new op date, that was postponed due to Covid. Worried about the thick womb lining that needed thinning found by scan in March! Consultant said biopsy needed to see if cancerous(just a precaution they do now). Was scheduled for this week. Now they're saying October, 3 months away. Why should I be penalised for getting Covid? Have contacted consultant but I won't hold my breath as to outcome. Was going to put 'it's not fair' but realise that sounds a bit childish as, what is? Im worried about the pain I'm getting. Sorry for being a misery guts. I know there's lots of people in similar and worse circumstances. I feel angry for everyone poorly and at the government?
Hope everyone is surviving heatwave. Love to all.
Oooh it’s too hot to do anything today??
Thinking of you Annie and hope you are managing to let some air into your room- trouble is the air is hot too isn’t it!
I longed for the Summer this year - be careful what you wish for eh!!
Keep cool friendsxxxxx
Hi all x
Ellie Anne I don’t want to ask personal questions but am very concerned that you are so unhappy . I do not want to put
thoughts into your mind which will cause distress.
So much can stem from childhood, an example- when I started
school , I was left handed, the teacher insisted I used my right
hand, there was a sand pit in the classroom, she would hover
and say ‘no use your right hand’, I felt I was so different to the rest of the class, told my parents I had to use my right hand like
everyone else, they went to the school with me in tow, told the
teacher I was to use my left hand, I was special and gifted !
Was I smug ? yes. I knew someone who had been made to
‘Become right handed’ he developed a stammer, didn’t want to
join in games, wouldn’t even play marbles, was mocked by other children for being a sissy.
I say this to say how something in childhood can cause hurt which we carry through adulthood. If anything squashed you
when a child it may explain why you have such low self esteem.
If anything squashed you when a child , the fault lies with those
who failed to see your true worth.
Another epistle friends sorry. I will refrain from giving my views on this heatwave !
How is everyone?
Annie I have had alcohol problems in younger days. I used it to give me confidence but don’t worry . I only have one glass of wine at night and it’s not every night. I think I alwayhave had low self esteem. Didn’t have a happy childhood and wasn’t popular at school. And the pattern continued.
ScaredyCat Oh, rescue cats - I love them. What are their names?
SweetpeaSue Hope your pain has subsided.
Anniebach How have you been in this heat? I think it's due to rain on Wednesday. I can hardly wait.
Well the children enjoyed the paddling pool (it's 10ft across so Son1 was in there too). Met Son1's girlfriend and 12 year old son for the 1st time. She's lovely, loves cats (always a plus for me). Son2 and his friend came round. As usual, we did too much food - sausages, burgers, pork steaks, salmon, salad, various dips, then cake and ice creams. They've all just gone, so I'm going to get comfortable in my nightie and have a large Pimm's and lemonade. Early to bed, possibly. Hope everyone on BD has a restful night despite the temperatures x
Doodle- glad the sea has calmed down now and you can sit and enjoy the sea together. What a nice number of ports you have to visit- wonderful photo opportunities I would think.
I,m sorry your DH cannot walk so well now it must be very frustrating for him. Good idea to visit the GP - if that’s possible.
Enjoy all those lovely places.xx
SweetPeaSue- isn’t it annoying when your message just flys off into space. I do that all the time and it takes me ages to write one?
Your Mumsounds a lovely, kind compassionate lady - you are like her and definitely not week kneed.
I,m so sorry your tummy is causing problems again and hope that the X-rays give you some answers. Not long to wait now.
EllieAnne- Wow that was a good walk- so much better walking when it’s not so hot. Hope your friend is better soon and you can get together again. Do you walk with her?
We had curry too last night- funnily enough it’s supposed to be a good thing to eat when it’s hot. I thought DH was going to melt!
I have never been to Scotland but would love to it looks very beautiful. Maybe next year- while I can still walk ok.
HVDY- I would so have panicked with those symptoms- sounds just like Covid. Still no one knows better that you what Covid feels like. Shame you have so much to do today although I expect it will be lovely to have your family all with you. Try and have a rest if DH is doing the cooking .
Hope the germs go away as quick as they came.
Annie- you are certainly not gobby or pushy but Welsh. Oh yes you are Welsh thru and thru like a stick of rock!!
I feel uncomfortable today so goodness knows how you feel - glad you have fans to help.
Would you be able to have an ice lolly or ice cream if your carer brought them for you?
Thinking of you.
I walked round to my daughters this morning to meet her 2 new rescue cats. They are settling in well but just learning to get along together - one is a bit bossy! They are very friendly towards people though which is a good start.
Love to all - old friends and new ones.
Hi all x
HVDY what a wonderful afternoon, a BBQ with your family,
hope you are feeling better x
Sweetpeasue you had an awful night, hope the pain has eased today , I am still waiting for an appointment with physiotherapist, seems I will have to go private. When are your
tests ? x
Scaredycat how are you? does this heat cause problems for
you ? I do hope not x
Ellie Anne forgive me for what I will say, please, please, don’t
turn to alcohol for a lift or to ease depression, it’s a vicious circle, a few glasses can be so tempting when alone and feeling
depressed, but it causes depression to increase. So sorry to
learn of your best friend, you are in a bad place but you can get
out of it , we need to find a starting point and then you can
move forward, did you have low self esteem when a little girl ?
how are you spending this weekend? ? sending you a cwtch x
Doodle the Welsh have two passions , music and talking ! how lovely to be in a cruise in this heatwave x
Friends, if I could walk I would be on the lawn performing a
rain dance, never thought i would miss saying ‘it’s raining in
Mid Wales again’ .
How is everyone?
That's great HVDY. ? Er, not great but ykwim. With you saying you felt hot too. Thanks.
SweetpeaSue. It's a cold. I've had Covid before and survived.
. I'll be ok by tomorrow but thanks. I hope you somehow get some relief from the pain x
HVDY Sorry, I was referring to Covid when I mentioned DHs symptoms.
Oh do look after yourself HVDY
Could be a cold but the symptoms you've described are all the exact ones my husband started with.
Had an awful night and needed Oramorph again. V scary. Won't go on about it though. I know it's not right at all.
Hope everyone has a good day. Think closing curtains and windows on sunny side of house helps.
Annie Been thinking about you and I'm concerned that you're unable to move into your wheelchair with your poorly ankle. How are they going to help with that? Is the physio still visiting? Thinking of you. X
How is everyone this morning? I've been up since 7.30, after a very restless night of coughing, wheezing, blowing my nose (I'm very snotty) and being too hot. My throat is sore, and I wish nobody was coming round today - but 10 of us for a BBQ lunch. DH is sweeping the patio and moving the outside table and chairs about. I've hoovered and mopped through downstairs rooms. Going to have a shower and nip to the shop for lettuce then make a big salad.
Anniebach Thinking of you in this heat (it's 21 here already). Have you got some ice lollies?
EllieAnne 6 miles is great (I can manage 1/2 a mile with quite a few rests in between). I hope the day passes quickly if you feel low.
Doodle Your holiday sounds perfect - relaxing whilst being waited on.
SweetpeaSue I hope your stomach settles. Not long for the tests, which you've waited so long for.
Hope everyone manages to have a decent day and stay cool x
I’m sitting listening to the song Songbird. What lovely lyrics.
Had our evening meal and sitting watching the sea calm and relaxing.
How are my friends in the BDG.
HVDY your DGDs new school sounds like a good one. What a fantastic idea. Hope you have a good family weekend
Annie Welsh yes that sounds good, the only people I know who are/were Welsh, have been lovely so that must be it. ?
We have had rain today so no heatwave here. Hope all are keeping well.
Sweetpeasue we take seasick tablets if we feel a bit rough. Fine today. It’s a lovely evening but been rainy and windy during the day. Hope your tummy settles and you are ok.
Ellie Anne a six mile walk is amazing . DH and I manage about 2 miles at a push and very slowly. When we get home from the cruise we will need to see a GP and get checked out. A year ago DH could walk for hours and climb umpteen flights of stairs, since he fell and broke his ribs he can’t do that anymore.
I’m sorry you feel low and your friend has Covid. Can you phone your friend and chat to her. She may appreciate the chat. When will you get to see your DGS again? Do you meet up often.
Sorry you feel so low. I hope things pick up for you soon x
*EllieAnne *Just seen your message. I'm sorry that you're not able to see your family or friend at present. Hope she doesn't get very poorly. A 6 mile walk is amazing - - I couldn't do that right now though I used to. Alcohol in the heat is very dehydrating but an odd glass of wine occasionally can feel quite relaxing and pleasant. I think it is easy though for us to use it as medication at times when we're unhappy. Didn't realise you were in Scotland, how lovely.
Annie Your GGrandfather sounds a lovely man. You may well have some of his genes. I'd already decided you are not 'gobby' or 'pushy'. ? My mum was strong-willed (in a good way) and would fight for those weaker or being put - upon. She would tell me that she didn't feel brave at the time but would be quite scared inside. I know I didn't inherit those genes but honesty was a huge thing with my mum and was nurtured in us and was the main thing that was taught to us always. I'm - 'weak - kneed' compared to mum but Truth is v important to me. Miss her.
Don't worry about your fan programmes Annie. Expect its a bit like washing machines where there's a doz programmes but only a couple we ever use. Good it has remote though.
HVDY I've never heard of sleepovers in schools. Wonder if it's a new thing. Sounds like your GD loved it. Hope the bbcue is good tomorrow, and it's in the shade!
ScaredycatThat policeman probs did think our plants were waccy baccy?. I promise you they weren't and I don't think I look at all a suspicious type. Whatever that type is! I'm sure I blushed but I always do even if I'm not guilty.
Doodle Thank goodness the sea has calmed. It must have been a bit scary and unpleasant. I'd never want to be on the sea again overnight after my bout of sea-sickness, there's no escape. Lovely of you to think of us while you're on holiday.
EllieAnne So pleased you're happy with your dental work. Hope you're coping OK and are well. I'm sorry you lost your sister like that. I think it's rare to have 2 sisters the same. My sisters and myself are all different.
Tummy not good I'm afraid. Been upset at the way it's going. Not long now for XRay but I'm not thinking it will reveal the problem whatever it is but we'll see.
Take care of yourselves everyone in the coming heatwave. Back to being cooler on Wednesday
Have a peaceful night all. X
I’m feeling low today. My close friend has Covid so I can’t visit and haven’t seen any of the family. On the plus side I managed to walk over 6 miles this morning. The heatwave hasn’t reached Scotland yet. Annie I keep thinking of you stuck in one room but still caring about others. I hope you can see some of your family soon.
Doodle your cruise sounds interesting.
I made a Thai curry tonight but didnt eat much of it.
Since the wedding (2 glasses of wine and a cocktail) I ve only had a small glass of wine.
Haven’t really wanted it. The good thing is that I nibble when I drink so I’ve cut back on that too,
Oh no. Spent so long writing to you all and lost message. So sorry. Must stop using this- bleep - mobile phone. Pressed 'post' and didn't immediately send so went to tap post again and screen changed and lost message. Thinking of you all. X
Hi all x
HVDY weeding ? phew, you are energetic x
Doodle I have decided I am not pushy or gobby, I am Welsh ?. Your cruise sounds perfect, spitting with rain, bliss x
I am finding this heatwave difficult, causes me to feel agitated,
I have two fans in the living room , one is remote control,
haven’t the foggiest what the instructions mean except for
on and off.
How is everyone?
Hello all, how is everyone getting on today?
The GDs were collected this morning - the 11yr old had a "sleepover" at her new school. There were 8 of them, plus 3 teachers. She said they had pizzas, watched a film, played some games and football, then had a midnight stroll around the grounds. They were up at 8am, then were picked up by parents (in her case, my son and husband) at 9. They've gone for a picnic with their dad (Son1). Husband and I have bought food and drinks for tomorrow's BBQ, then done a bit of weeding. Time for a doze now......... Hope everyone is keeping cool x
Oh Annie you are not the only one. I did exactly the same with my iPad. Who’d have thought those end bits would snap off so easily. Hope you’ve got another charger now.
You don’t have to be pushy or gobby to socialise well. My mother and SIL were both very sociable and could chat to anyone. Neither were pushy, just friendly.
I think those of us who feel uncomfortable in larger groups just don’t know what to say or just blend into the background. I’d rather be able to chat than not.
We are friends indeed Annie. You don’t have to actually meet people to get to know them and care about them. I think in some ways because we don’t actually know each other we can say how we really feel and be more open.
HVDY sea is better but it rained in and off today. We are heading north which is why the weather is colder and have about 7 or 8 ports to visit I think.
Pinky beige sounds a nice colour, I hope your DGC like it.
Hope all the gang have a good weekend. Take care x
Hi all x
Couldn’t join you yesterday, yes iPad but all because of my
stupidity. iPad needed charging, put in charger lead, fell asleep
holding IPad , slept for two hours, iPad on floor, the thingy that
plugs into iPad had snapped off leaving little metal bit stuck in
iPad, carer got it out this morning.
Thinking about feeling uncomfortable with more than a small
group of people, thought ‘am I pushy, gobby’ , I hope not, have
been the same since a small child, was encouraged to speak up,
must have my g grandfather’s genes, ? a Baptist minister , politically active, fought verbally against injustice.
To all, we are not a group on a forum, we are friends who meet together on a forum and always a welcome to new friends x
How is everyone?
SweetpeaSue What a palaver to get your tablets. I'm glad you got them, and I hope all goes well next week. I'm pleased you had a nice time with your little grandson.
DoodleThank goodness the sea has settled down for you. Are you visiting many places?
Anniebach I hope it's cooler where you are. It's 17 degrees here, which is much better than it was.
ScaredyCat, all on BD, I hope you're all ok today. I've been making up the bunkbeds for the GDs (the eldest won't be here until tomorrow) and I've coloured my hair - pinky-beige but I quite like it. I'm going to take a lot of clothes to the charity shops soon - I've kept things for 5 years, thinking I'll lose weight (I won't). Hope everyone manages to have a decent day x
HVDY I am so pleased you feel you have made good progress since your stroke. It’s good your are coping well. DH never had any paralysis after his operation on his artery but before he lost the use of his hand for a few minutes at a time
Thank you, we’ve had a much better day today. Stomach has settled and the sea is calmer. Hoping it stays that way.
So pleased your DGD is happy in her new school. Makes all the difference. I’ve never heard of a sleepover either.
Hope you enjoy your reading day and a nice cuddle with Mr Cooper.
Sweetpeasue glad you are feeling a bit better. Hope everything goes well for your test. Good job you were on the ball in picking up your tablets. A hug from your grandchildren is lovely isn’t it. Mine are big now but still like their hugs.
Scaredycat I’m one who sticks to the edges of a room too. I’m ok with a small number of people as they tend to chat but in a group I feel out of it and too scared to join in. Thanks for your message. I miss you all too. I will try and keep in touch as and when I am able.
Annie and Joce hope you and all the BDG are ok.
Been much better at sea today. Sat outside for a while and watched the waves. It was spitting with rain but not enough to get really wet. Turned into a nice evening though. Still very light. Take care all and keep safe x
