To quote Anniebach - This thread is for the support, understanding and sharing of all mental health problems.

Sweetpeasue I'm pleased that your bowel pain has eased. I, too, have had the bladder problem you describe, for many years - I was on prescribed tablets for years, which didn't help much. I eventually saw a Urologist at the hospital, and after scans, tests and cutting out caffeine altogether, I don't have bladder pain at all. I only get it if I have a few cups of ordinary coffee. It really has made a massive difference in not having caffeine.

Sweetpeasue Sun 19-Jun-22 22:40:01

I'm glad you're recovering from your fall EllieAnne . I wish the other hurting you are experiencing could be healed as automatically. I'm glad that your son and GS visited today for Father's Day but sorry it was a strain for you. Whatever the problems are, you alone cannot put them all right. As others on here have mentioned, it might be helpful for you to speak to your GP to ask if you could have counselling to see if you could find a way forward. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your desperate question as to why life is so hard. But I can assure you that you are not alone in your sadness for your 'children's' problems. I hope that you will be able to sleep tonight and hopefully have a brighter day tomorrow. Thinking of you and sending you kind wishes. x

Doodle Sun 19-Jun-22 22:26:21

Ellie Anne I’m glad you are getting better after your fall.
Families bring such joy but such worry at the same time. I’m sorry it was difficult for you today. I wish things were better for you and you had more in life to look forward to. Do your children get on with your husband? I hope you have something good to do this week that lifts your spirits.
Sweetpeasue we all have bits of us that we don’t think is attractive. So don’t worry about it just go with your sundress and enjoy it.
I’m sorry about the bladder pain. I realise you will be worried about not taking laxatives but hopefully when you have your test you can get some answers.
HVDY I’m glad Mr Cooper isn’t in pain. It’s awful when animals can’t tell us how they are isn’t it. I hope he lets you lie in linger in the morning.
Sleep well all x

Ellie Anne Sun 19-Jun-22 22:00:29

Sweet pea sue I read that book after nonnie recommended it. Found it interesting. I’ve been wondering about her.
I’m recovering from my fall. But there’s been a lot of hurt over the last few days. My son partner and gs came today for Father’s Day but it was a strain. Why oh why is life like this?
I’m grateful for my children and grandchildren but sad about their problems.
Hope Annie is ok

Sweetpeasue Sun 19-Jun-22 21:00:32

Sorry, but can I just say that the book that Nonnie mentioned once Depressive Illness-The Curse of the Strong came a few dys ago. I'm impressed by the simplicity of its language and I'm finding it helpful and interesting. So Nonnie, if you ever dip in and read this, a big thankyou. Hope you're OK. X

Sweetpeasue Sun 19-Jun-22 20:42:13

Grrr. Just lost all my message as phone seized up so couldn't text and lost everything.
*Scaredycat Birds are clever, I agree. Hadn't realised Magpies did that. Glad we don't get them in our garden as I left my rings on garden bench while filling a pot with compost last week. They were there an hr before I realised what I'd done. I'm not sure if it's a myth that they like shiny things though.
HVDY On same subject--we have seen a Sparrowhawk come down into our garden too though not very frequently. One actually made off with a blackbird last year. I so hope that doesn't happen again. They just swoop down in an instant. Hope your Mr Cooper is OK. We used to give Metacam to our son's Lab for his arthritis.
Annie Your room must be so unbearably stifling. Is it the windows themselves that are difficult or your hands that can't open them? It would be awful to have to put up with that all Summer. Hope you're OK today.
Doodle I so wish I had your hair'problem'. Mine thinned drastically in my 40s. I hate it.We never like what we have though do we? Everyone used to want waves at one time now straighteners are the 'thing'. I took an uncomfortable boned bra back to M&S today and bought a sun dress. I'll have to wear it with a thin shrug or cardi when outside as my arms are another thing I hate! My bowel pain has improved a fair bit though not right in function. Now bladder pain has returned though mainly at night. I have something called Bladder Pain Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis that flares at certain times. I'm a bundle of fun! I'm not looking forward to next week when I'm not allowed to take laxatives for 7dys before my test. Trying so hard not to get anxious about everything.

Hope everyone else is OK, EllieAnne and BD posters. Have a peaceful night all. X

HowVeryDareYou Sun 19-Jun-22 20:00:36

Doodle Mr Cooper wasn't in any pain, he seems to wake up very early lately, but I gave him some Metacam anyway smile. Asthma is often worse with all this pollen around, isn't it? I had to use my inhaler on Friday when it was very hot here - I can count on one hand the number of times I use it in 6 months.

Anniebach, SweetpeaSue, ScaredyCat, EllieAnne, and everyone who comes on here - hope you're all ok.

A sparrowhawk had a pigeon in my garden today - all that was left afterwards was a load of feathers and one wing. Still, they have to eat, don't they?

Doodle Sun 19-Jun-22 19:32:01

Evening all.
sacaredycat we seem to have a lot of magpies here. Maybe they like being by the river. I prefer the smaller birds but can’t complain as we have many red kytes too. (Or is it kites, I don’t know)
Hope you had a lovely time with your family despite the weather. Never to be trusted in the UK. So pleased your meds have arrived. It is worrying if you feel they are unavailable. DH and I both have asthma and cannot exist without our meds so I know how you feel.
HVDY been warm but overcast here today. DH is outside sitting on the balcony as it’s quite warm even now. I have had to come in as my iPad has run out of battery.
I hope Mr Cooper wasn’t in pain. I know that pets when they get older (dogs in our case) can need more attention overnight.
Nice to have all your family over for lunch. Good news about your son’s house. Hope it works for him.
Joce Nanny Nonny Bluesky rafichagran we still think of you. Hope you are ok.
Annie I hope your absence is iPad related and not because anything’s wrong. Sweetpeasue how are you today?

HowVeryDareYou Sun 19-Jun-22 09:45:55

How is everyone this morning?

It's sunny and warm (not too warm). Mr Cooper woke me at 4.30! I texted a friend, who is on holiday in Dubai - it's 3 hours ahead of us and I knew she'd be up - and it was 40 degrees at that time!

Son2 and his girlfriend will be here for lunch (as will Son1 and GDs) today. He's excited because he's accepted an offer on his house and has had his offer on another house accepted - it's 10 miles away, so he'll still be close (he's been 1/3 of a mile from us for 10 years). Just need Son1 to somehow get a place of his own............

Hope everyone manages to have a decent day x

Scaredycat Sat 18-Jun-22 19:18:03

Hello all
SweetPeaSue- hope you are feeling ok today. Our garden is very small but the magpies come in and if we put out bread they dunk it in the bird bath before eating it- that seems so clever.
HVDY- I too would wait and see how Mr Cooper gets on with his tooth. That is a huge increase in such a short time. When we had our last cat the vet wanted to do tests that were so expensive we said we could have had them done at our local private hospital for the quote!! We waited and all worked out ok.
Doodle- yesterday was so warm we asked my daughter DH and Grandaughter for a BBQ today.Talk about a change in the weather!! The sky clouded over ,it got cold and then rained?
We stayed out as long as we could but had to give in in the end.
The pharmacy rang this morning and they have my medication- good service I thought.
Annie- you must have been so hot and stuffy last night. Glad you have rain to cool you down and hopefully you,ll sleep better tonight.
Love to allxx

Doodle Sat 18-Jun-22 14:18:28

Scaredycat I would love a birdbath but with only having a balcony it’s not feasible. We do however have lots of birds in the trees and a lots of white gulls that swoop around over the river. I could sit and watch them for ages.
I expect your busy with holiday washing and ironing now.
Hope you get your medications sorted out soon.
Sweetpeasue glad you had some special time with your DGS.
Always cheers the spirits. I love having my hair cut when it gets too long. Mine is fuzz, thick and unruly, only when it’s shorter can I control it more.
HVDY gosh that’s more than it’s going to cost my DH to have the remains of his tooth extracted. He and Mr Cooper have the same problem. Like Annie, if it’s not hurting him I would leave well alone.
Annie yes a bit of rain is a relief after all that heat. It’s still very warm here but overcast with the odd shower.
Have you got things blooming in your garden? Any chance of having some planting done? Thinking of you.x

HowVeryDareYou Sat 18-Jun-22 14:03:13

Anniebach Mr Cooper had a "fang" extracted at the same vet's, 4 years ago and it cost £460 then. The same vet's, but the cost is now more than double! He's fine though. It was 31 here yesterday. I'm glad it's cooler today x

Anniebach Sat 18-Jun-22 13:02:33

Hi all x

HVDY I would wait to see how Mr. Cooper goes too, if no show of discomfort and eating why put him through the trauma of surgery.

Thank heaven it’s cooler today, it was 29 in my living yesterday
had little sleep last night , friends I can say with delight -
it’s raining in Mid Wales today .

How is everyone?

HowVeryDareYou Sat 18-Jun-22 11:52:45

How is everyone today? I'm glad it's cooler weather. I've just been to the vet's with Mr Cooper - the tooth that fell out last Sunday wasn't whole - some was still in the gum. The vet said the gum had healed over it, which often happens, she said, and that the remainder will probably be absorbed (her words). She said he's got some tartar but is in good condition, overall and doesn't need any treatment - but If I wanted it, she emailed a quote - £753 for an x-ray, tooth extraction (if required), IV drip, anaesthesia, and painkillers. Another £275 for blood tests beforehand. He's about 18-20 years old, so I'm inclined to wait and see how he goes.

Sweetpeasue Fri 17-Jun-22 20:00:02

Annie Oh no, Im so sorry about your MT..I know how precious she and all you GC are to you. She has a new job and I expect that will be very much on her mind at present so it could be she hasn't the time and energy to sort out any other family issues there are for her right now. I hope it won't be too long before you see her again. She will want to tell you all the news of how she's getting along, I'm sure. I am sad for you Annie. Thinking of you and sending a prayer.
EllieAnne Sorry your day has not been good. Wishing you a full recovery.
HVDY Had a good few hours with GS it was lovely. No full weekend but it was great all the same. They can be so funny. What a lovely compliment for your DGD to say though. She loves you very much that's clear. Hope your day went OK.
Scaredycat Holidays can be so refreshing but it's also nice to be home again. Hope you have had a good day Scaredycat.
Doodle Yes.the Blackbird was unhurt but we realise he'd become a little too friendly. They are wild and beautiful things and the baby will have to learn to forage for itself in the Autumn/Winter. We will start to feed them again then. Such a coincidence you mention hairdressers. My own is very much in need of a good cut. I try and put it off as long as possible.

Hope everyone has a peaceful night and get some rest from anxieties and troubles. x

Scaredycat Fri 17-Jun-22 19:24:44

EllieAnne- hope you are ok after your fall. Your dress is beautiful - you will look lovely and feel nice and comfortable too. Thanks for showing it to us. I hope you get to the Greek Islands one day- do a Shirley Valentine eh!!
SweetPeaSue- glad you had a positive meeting with your GP.
Its lovely you are a bird lady - we love them too. They haven’t been around since we got home maybe they think we,ve abandoned them. Bird baths full now so hope they are on their way! Good news about your tooth too.
HVDY- my clothes got a bit smaller on holiday! Wow another busy day for you - sensible to do it early it’s so hot today.
Annie- Thank you. Oh it’s so uncomfortable not to be able to open doors or windows in the heat and to feel a nice breeze. So sorry that MT feels as she does it must be such a sadness and worry for you. Sending a hugxxx
Doodle- we too are in the South it’s been so hot today. We spent most of the afternoon trying to get some of my prescription
filled. ? There’s problems with manufacturers and still haven’t got them all yet- I hate the uncertainty and an unfinished task.
It’s such a nice feeling when you have a hair cut isn’t it - that lovely lightness. It must be good to have the river close by when it’s hot.
I,ll be first in the queue for a no worry pill but as you say not feeling wouldn’t be nice.
Hope all the gang have a restful and not too warm sleep. Xxxx

Doodle Fri 17-Jun-22 18:54:05

sweetpeasue I’m sure the blackbird appreciated the treats but yes you don’t want him in the house he could panic and get hurt. I am so pleased you are feeling a little bit better. Perhaps eating a little more is helping. I do hope so. Good news about your tooth too.
We are in the south and it is warm here. I wilt in the heat. Had to go and have my haircut which pleased me no end as it was long and getting in the way. I can feel a bit of a breeze on the back of my neck which is nice ?
HVDY your son and grandchildren are lucky that you have them round so often. I’m sure it must provide them with a lot of stability and they obviously have a great time with you all.
You granddaughter could well be right if she thinks you’re lovely.?
Annie you hinted at a problem a little while ago. I am so sorry. You must be so upset about MT. You have always been so close. To cut herself off from everyone is so sad. I do hope some reconciliation can take place. Thinking and praying for you with much love x
Ellie Anne sorry you haven’t had a good day either. Glad you are feeling a bit better but a fall can take a while to recover from so take care. Will your GD be going to a new school in September? Hope things improve for you.
Wish there could be a “no worry” pill we could all take but maybe that would have a “don’t care” side effect which wouldn’t be good.
Hope all have a weekend without troubles and some peace of mind. Take care all xx

Ellie Anne Fri 17-Jun-22 18:26:25

Scaredy-cat I would love to go to the Greek islands .
While the rest of the uk gets weather warnings we have rain and are wearing woolly jumpers.
Annie I’m so sad for you. It’s great that mt has her new job but sad that she won’t be visiting for a while. Does she phone or FaceTime you ? I’m still sore but getting better . Went to oldest gd s leavers assembly today at her primary school. For lots of reasons it has been a very difficult day. ???

Anniebach Fri 17-Jun-22 15:27:31

Hi all x

Ellie Anne lovely posh frock , you will look great at the wedding, so sorry you had a fall x

Scaredycat welcome home , I am so happy that you enjoyed your holiday, admit envious you got your toes in the sea, i so understand your emotions in the church , the peace can be overwhelming , I feel separate from the world in empty churches.

I am on a low friends, lovely sunshine and I can’t have doors and Windows open and my Mini Tornado will not be coming
home for an unknown length of time, she has alienated herself
from her father, sister and brother and her partner of five years is now her ex partner. I have empty nest syndrome !

How is everyone ?

HowVeryDareYou Fri 17-Jun-22 10:36:06

How is everyone this morning?

I was up early, took the GC to school, also their dad (Son1) as it was Father's Day breakfast there at 8.30. Nice idea. He's gone to town, to do some shopping so I'm doing yet more washing and some cleaning up, before it gets too warm. Hope everyone manages to have a decent day x

HowVeryDareYou Thu 16-Jun-22 21:49:56

Doodle Because our son (father of the GC) lives here, we have them here every other weekend (although it's been mainly every weekend for months) and they're here every other week during the 6 week summer holidays.

SweetpeaSue It's good that you haven't needed the Oramorph lately. I'm glad you tooth is ok too. Aw, you can't stop feeding the blackbirds smile. Enjoy your weekend with your grandson. Precious times.

EllieAnne It's unnerving to fall over, isn't it. Glad you haven't hurt yourself much. Your dress looks perfect for a summer wedding.

I haven't done much today - I didn't go to the day centre. I tried on lots of last summer's clothes, and they're all too small! I blame our washing machine grin. Seriously, I'm at my heaviest ever weight and sick of myself, so I'm going to start Slimfast tomorrow sad. Our 7 year old GD said "Oh, you look beautiful, better than a 19 year old" grin. If only.......

Hope everyone has a restful night x

Sweetpeasue Thu 16-Jun-22 19:54:11

Oh and my tooth seems OK HVDY!
Another positive.

Sweetpeasue Thu 16-Jun-22 19:39:19

EllieAnne You have a dress, that's great news! It's very pretty, well done you. That's something you won't have to worry about. Oh no, you fell. Hope you didn't hurt yourself too much. It always seems to shake us up more as we get older. But listen to me! You're probs a babe in arms compared to me.
Annie I was so pleased to hear of your trip out in your chair. That must have taken a LOT of courage. I'm bewildered as to what you did to hurt your ankle. Did you catch it on something in your chair? Hope it's not too bad. Great news about the physio. Crossed fingers that everything goes right this time.
HVDY So glad you had a good time away on your break. It does us good to get away from the usual surroundings. You'll be busy with GDs this weekend. I'm having my GS after school tomorrow. Really looking forward to it and got his favourite nibbles in.
Scaredycat Lovely that you enjoyed your holiday. The sea is beautiful especially when the sun is on it. The church visit sounded so special. I think the smaller ones even more so, somehow. But I am sorry about your AF being a bit worrying for you while away. Hope that soon settles down again.
Doodle It's been so warm here too. We're in the North so thank goodness we don't get the higher temperatures of the South. Hope you are managing with the anxiety at present.
Thankyou, I've been quite good today. Saw GP this morning as she'd arranged and she was happy I am starting to get some appetite back though I'd lost a little more weight. I haven't needed Oramorph as much which is a positive too.
I've had to stop feeding my blackbird as he keeps coming with the baby and has got into the house twice now! It makes me feel sad not to give them the titbits but I have to stop now as I don't want them to become too dependent. I'm becoming the eccentric birdwoman of a story I used to read my grandson!

Have a peaceful night all. x

Doodle Thu 16-Jun-22 19:39:09

Oh Ellie Anne what a shock that must have been. I hope you’re ok. Your dress looks lovely. Have you tried it on yet.
Just right for a wedding. Floaty and pretty. ?

Ellie Anne Thu 16-Jun-22 18:42:00

So glad you got out Annie and that mt starts new job soon.
Had a fall in the street today. Very sore but don’t think anything is broken. Felt so embarrassed.
Have got a dress ???
