To quote Anniebach - This thread is for the support, understanding and sharing of all mental health problems.

Anniebach Tue 23-Aug-22 12:37:22

Hi all x

Churning tummy, nausea, over active bowel, lightheaded, stiff
neck, restless nights = anxiety stoked up by whatiferies.

Ellie Anne do you want to live alone my love or do you want
to stay in your home if your husband would become the man
you married and had children with ? Sorry to ask such a
personal question but you are so unhappy x

My new carer, why oh why if one can’t walk do some think one
can’t think clearly, younger daughter will look for someone else.

Been thinking ! How things have changed regarding mental health, thank God, when I had severe postnatal depression I went into hospital for a few weeks, I refused ECT treatment ,
a nurse came to my bed one morning and said you are underweight so doctor wants you to have some injections to
increase your appetite, I learned later I was given insulin
which use to be used as shock treatment! I am not speaking of
the 19th century ?

How is everyone?

HowVeryDareYou Tue 23-Aug-22 11:08:29

Doodle So sorry, I've looked back on some posts and I've seen that it was SweetPeaSue and laptops. I must start reading things properly. I often listen to loud music when I'm ironing.
SweetPeaSue our eldest GD is 11, going to big school in a couple of weeks. They certainly don't stay little for long enough. Mr Cooper is behaving well. I haven't seen him for a couple of hours but I think he's in a neighbour's garden.
EllieAnne You aren't alone on here. We understand and empathise.

I thought my anxiety was easing off, but for some unknown reason, I had palpitations for the first couple of hours when I woke up. How is everyone this morning? x

Scaredycat Tue 23-Aug-22 11:03:28

HVDY- I,m pleased your GC have settled well into their new home- I expect you are too.
I remember the school blazer trips- the children always look a bit swamped in them at first!! So nice that you are involved with lots of things.
Don’t overdo the ironing- I have got so lazy and found a good fold is often all that’s needed except for shirts etc which don’t cooperate at all!!
VioletSky- well done for going out. Sorry you are feeling flat .Today is a new day so hope it’s a better one for you.x
Annie- MT will be happy with her sister until something suitable comes along. I can’t believe her job could cause any problems -/people,are so prejudiced.
Oh dear sorry about the new carer- could it just be teething troubles or did you just not feel comfortable with her? Why is nothing easy!!!
Does sleeping in the day affect your night time rest? I think you are physically and emotionally, exhausted Annie. Hopefully once all the house hunting and carer is sorted your mind won’t be so busy.
Yes I,m very worried about my sister and nephew . Wish I was nearer to them to give practical support as well as emotional.
Xx
Doodle-thank you . My nephew is safe in hospital but I,m worried my,sister is wearing herself out. Hopefully today will bring results from tests.
Glad you had a nice walk - still very warm here but no rain .
SweetPeaSue- Thank you- yes the ripple effect reaches out to us all. Life isn’t easy is it.
Those racing thoughts and Whatifferies are what make our minds work overtime. I hope, you managed to have a peaceful and pain free nightxx
EllieAnne- sorry you are upset and hope, getting out helped you clear your mind. It must have been difficult after the peace of the last week.
Love to all

Doodle Tue 23-Aug-22 10:40:56

Ellie Anne I’m so sorry things are bad for you again. I’m sorry someone had upset you so much. I wish I could be closer to give you a hug. Know that we care about you. You are not alone here. x
HVDY I don’t think I said I was getting a laptop (but with my memory it is possible ?) . I already have one but don’t use it much. Do you watch TV or listen to music while ironing? I always find that helps pass the time …..until I get too engrossed in the film and forget to iron.
My DGC all loved the Jurassic park films too.
Sweetpeasue tummy upset due to anxiety I think plus a meal in a restaurant we hadn’t been to before. It was very nice but a bit spicy for me. So glad you were able to enjoy a lovely day with your DGS. Hope you have a good day today.
How is everyone today?

Ellie Anne Mon 22-Aug-22 22:01:32

I’ve had a horrible day. Been out for most of it. Got really upset over something and had to get out.

Sweetpeasue Mon 22-Aug-22 19:44:24

Scaredycat Oh dear your nephew is back in hospital again. I do hope it's not anything too serious. Your sister will be worried, and youll worry for your sister and family. It's like a ripple in a pond isn't it? When we care about each other everyone is affected. I hope your nephew will be home soon.
HVDY Our GDs must be same age. She will be starting senior school next term. She is so excited though I think a little apprehensive too. They grow so fast, time seems to fly. Hope Mr Cooper is behaving.
VioletSky Do hope you have a better day tomorrow. The summer term seems to be almost slipping away. Hope you can enjoy your break and relax before the next school preparations.
EllieAnne I'm sure it will feel very different for you now after having the house to yourself. Take care of yourself.
Anniebach You have a plan for getting into your wheelchair. Please let us know if it's successful. I'm glad MT has decided to share with her sister and you will be relieved for a while. I hope your new carer works out OK. It's early days yet but it must be a bit awkward having someone new. To much time alone must be so terribly hard, especially after all the social things you used to be part of. I'm so sorry, I wish we lived closer. How are your lovely dogs now. Has Lottie got out again lately?
Doodle I wonder what has upset your tummy. I hope it's feeling better today. You will be appreciating this cooler weather. We've had rain here today but it eased off after a wet start thank goodness. I was concerned at first as early morning had to take painkiller and had agreed to have DGs. It turned out fine though and we were able to take him to a good park and he was able to show off his acrobatic skills. The more impressed we were the more effort he put in to hanging from the bars. I hope his little arms won't ache tomorrow.
Nanny I hope you've had a good day with your dear husband.

I feel anxious tonight but I'll be OK. I just need to stop my thoughts from racing ahead.
Hope everyone has a good night.

HowVeryDareYou Mon 22-Aug-22 19:40:43

Anniebach I did the ironing (it's a boring task and I was glad to get it over with). Oh no, you didn't take to the weekend carer? Was it something she did or didn't do, or just not your cup of tea? Is the weather making you more sleepy during the day? x
VioletSky You went to the function yesterday, so well done. I have days when I feel flat, I think we all do sometimes. Tomorrow will probably be better x
Doodle How have you been today? Did you manage to get a laptop? I wouldn't have a clue about technical things. We leave that to Son1 x
SweetPeaSue How are you feeling?
ScaredyCat, Rafichagran Nanny2507, EllieAnne, everyone else on BD - I hope you all have a relaxing evening. The GDs are watching one of the Jurassic Park films with Son1. DH is in the bath, and I'm going to have glass of wine now

Doodle Mon 22-Aug-22 19:33:38

Scaredycat thanks I feel better today. We went for a nice walk and managed to get home just before it rained.
I’m so sorry about your nephew. It must be a worry for your sister too. Hope they are both ok.
HVDY I’m glad your DGC seem happier. Hopefully their mum is more settled in the new home. I’m sure your DGC are having fun with you this week. Your son seems to take them lots of fun places.
Violetsky I’m glad you enjoyed the social event. You do sound a bit low. Hope nothing is wrong and tomorrow you feel brighter.
Anniebach it sounds as though your mind is easier if your DGD can move in with her sister if needed.
I am concerned you are not comfortable with your new weekend carer. Someone you don’t necessarily get on with will bring you down. Could your daughter perhaps continue her search for someone more to your suiting.
Do you sleep at night too? I hope so. Are you still looking for a house for your other DGD?
Sweetpeasue hope you had a better night last night and the tablets are helping.
Take care all x

Anniebach Mon 22-Aug-22 16:17:51

Hi all x

Rafichagran hello , it’s good to make a firm decision on something which has niggled in our minds for sometime, always lovely when you post x

VioletSky so sorry you feel flat after your venture out but
you went and that is a positive x

‘Ellie Anne* were you happier the week you were on your own ?

Scaredycat so sorry to learn about your nephew , you must be concerned for him and for your lovely sister x

Sweetpeasue you had a good day Saturday? so happy to
know this, there will be more x

HVDY do tell tomorrow, did you leave the ironing today x

Pressure looking for somewhere for my Mini Tornado has eased, she has applied to rent in several shared houses, all goes well until she says where she works ! I expected this, she will
move in with her sister until we find a suitable place for her.

The new carer came on Sunday, I regret to say I wasn’t comfortable with her, my younger daughter who worries that I
don’t see anyone from Friday to Monday arranged for this
carer to do both days !

I tend to sleep for about 3 hours every day recently, most annoying, could be too much isolation or mental exhaustion.

How is everyone?

VioletSky Mon 22-Aug-22 14:30:40

It was OK, just feeling a bit flat today.

Hope everyone is feeling well and having some peace

HowVeryDareYou Mon 22-Aug-22 14:18:48

How is everyone?

VioletSky How did your day go yesterday? You said you didn't want to go, but was it ok?
Anniebach How are you?
Doodle I hope your stomach has settled now. My GC are settled in their house and like it, thanks. They're here this week, though, until Friday evening.
SweetPeaSue I'm glad your UTI has cleared up. How are you otherwise?
ScaredyCat Sorry to hear about your nephew. At least the hospital will sort out his heart problem.

Son1 and his girls have just gone out for a few hours. I went with them earlier, to order a school brazer for GD1, who goes to senior school in a couple of weeks. She's got her tie, P.E. kit and rest of her uniform now. I'm going to tackle some ironing or shall I leave it again Love to all x

Scaredycat Sun 21-Aug-22 16:37:30

VioletSky- you must miss your Dad a lot but how right you are that the minute we are together with those we love again that time just disappears. I do hope you enjoy your outing today - very brave of you but the right decision I think. Since Covid it hasn’t been easy to get back into going out anyway has it.
Nanny2507- it must be very lonely at times to be so isolated but you certainly have a lovely big furry and scaly family to keep you busy. I like snakes and lizards- they feel nice to touch. 2 of our younger relatives have snakes at home. Do you face time family and friends?
SweetPeaSue- so glad you had a good day yesterday and were able to go shopping with DH. Yes sometimes there seems too much choice when getting something new - even a coffee!!
Hope you have had a comfortable day today too.
Rafichagran- good to hear from you. Retiring is a big decision for you but the relief you obviously feel proves it will be the right thing for you. Hope your mind feels more settled without that to worry you.
EllieAnne- a stress free week will have done you good hopefully , and maybe given you some time perhaps to consider what you could do for the future. Hope your daughter enjoyed her holiday.
Doodle- hope your tummy feels better soon and you are probably right that your anxiety of the last few days hasnt helped. I often feel nauseous in the morning with anxiety but somehow get breakfast down.
HVDY- good idea to rest today as it,ll be full on next week I,m sure. Nice to spend time with your son too hopefully.
Annie- hope you are ok today. I,m wondering if you have had your new carer .

More worry about my nephew as he is back in hospital with a cardio problem now! Such a worry for my poor sister.
I,m so sad for her.
Hope everyone has a pleasant evening xx

Doodle Sun 21-Aug-22 14:45:11

We went out for a meal a couple of days ago and my stomach has been upset since. Some pain last night. I know it’s not the same but it made me think of youSweetpeasue and all you are going through. It may be that anxiety is churning things up too.
So pleased you had a better night. I wonder if the tablets are helping. Hope it continues.
HVDY you’ll be having a busy week. How have your DGC settled in their new home? I bet they are looking forward to spending some time with you. Have a restful day today, you deserve it.
Ellie Anne having had a week on your own would you prefer for things to carry on like that rather than cope with your husband? It might be something to think about although I know you said it can’t be done. If you feel much better being on your own perhaps you should have another think. Hope you are ok.
Annie have you had your Sunday helper in today?

Ellie Anne Sun 21-Aug-22 13:24:07

Doodle it’s been a strange week . I’m so used to getting out of the house that it’s been hard to stay in. But I have managed to sort out some drawers and cupboards. I’ve been a bit lonely but always am anyway. So much of the stress has gone.

HowVeryDareYou Sun 21-Aug-22 12:41:53

How is everyone today?

I'm being very lazy today - apart from the usual boring washing and ironing, I'm not doing much. The grandchildren will be here some time tomorrow, until Friday teatime (Son1 has got the week off work), so I'm making the most of the peace and quiet for now x

Sweetpeasue Sat 20-Aug-22 20:25:37

EllieAnne I hate Daddy Long Legs too. The way they speed fly into you. Creepy. It must have been so relieving to have a break from the tension.
HVDY Your brother and his wife will be so pleased for your help. Mr Cooper will miss you and wonder where you are. My UTI is fine now thankyou. Nitrofurantoin work well for me. Hope you've had a good day.
Doodle Hope things have been well for you too today and your worries
are lessening even though it may be temporarily. It's awful to feel insane with anxiety and not find any peace.

I have had a good day today (touch wood) and a decent night's sleep last night. Went to look at some laptops, our computer is old and given up. A minefield! Touch screen? Size screen?
Windows Intel or Chrome book? 4gb or 8 gb. We came out without buying.
Guess I'll continue with phone for now.
Hope you all have a peaceful night.

Doodle Sat 20-Aug-22 20:15:17

Evening all. Another hot day.
Nanny I’m so sorry you don’t have friends or family nearby.
Would it be an idea to try and join some walking group or WI type thing so you have others to mix with?
My what a lot of animals you have they must keep you busy. Not sure about the snakes though they are one of my phobias.
Oops. Just read Sweetpeasues following post and realised I have said almost the same thing ?
Sweetpeasue that’s a good idea of your GP to tell the others in the practice. Thank you for your kind thoughts.
As Annie kindly reminded me it’s the illness not the person that causes the problems. That was a big help.
Hope you have a good weekend too and the tablets help you.
Annie you had lots of pets too. We have had a cat, three dogs, two rabbits and a budgie.
Oh I do hope your Baldrick plan works (I loved that series)
HVDY you never cease to amaze me at how much you do. Now you are going to look after your Brother and SIL too. I hope they realise how lucky they are to have you.
Violetsky well done you. I hope you enjoy your event and have a good time. Let us know how you get on.
Rafichagran nice to hear from you and thank you for your thoughts. I was very happy to retire and pleased I made that decision. I hope it works out well for you too.
Ellie Anne how has your week been without your DH? Would you be happier if you had a place to yourself or did you worry being in your own? I hope the week has been good for you.
We all have things we’re scared of and in many cases no rhyme or reason. DH hates moths but they don’t bother me at all.
Snakes are a different matter ?
Have a good weekend all

Ellie Anne Sat 20-Aug-22 18:57:01

So many animals Nanny. I assume you live out in the country. Don’t fancy the snakes. What sort are they? I’m sorry you don’t have friends or family around you. I hope you can FaceTime and phone friends and family.
Annie you battle through everything don’t you? You have contact with your daughter don’t you? It’s sad about the rest of your family. I don’t have any family of my generation. I have lots of cousins but we weren’t close and am not in touch with any. That’s why I value my friends so much.
Last day to myself. Dh is back from cat sitting tomorrow. Been a strange week not having to find places to go every day.
I see a daddy long legs on the outside of my window. For some reason I’m afraid of them. When they start flapping about I run. Silly isn’t it?

rafichagran Sat 20-Aug-22 12:17:12

Doodle I am very sorry to hear about your Grandson and the distress it causes the parents.
Annie how are you, hope the flat/househunt goes well and you get something soon.
SPS Sorry for your heath troubles it's horrible being in pain.
Nanny those animals must keep you busy, hope you feel better soon.
I have been very busy, having builders in and doing renovations, I have been a bit up and down in my feelings and mood, but I have made a desition I am definatly going to retire next year, I feel better knowing that. One less thing to worry about.
I am sorry I have not mentioned everyone. Have the best weekend you can and take care.

VioletSky Sat 20-Aug-22 12:04:14

I have a social event tomorrow but I've been planning on not going for days due to feeling unwell.

I've decided I am going to pull my socks up and go anyway. I can always leave if I'm not well and I think it's my head holding me back more than anything

HowVeryDareYou Sat 20-Aug-22 11:42:04

Nanny2507 What a lot of animals! You must have a lot of space. Are the chickens free range? I'd love to be able to have a few chickens. Are there any clubs you could join? I suppose all your animals must take up a lot of your time.
SweetPeaSue I hope the Diazepam gives you soon rest and relief. How's the UTI?
Anniebach I hope something can be thought of to help you
VioletSky, EllieAnne, Doodle,ScaredyCat and everyone on BD - I hope you all manage to have a decent day.

My brother is looking forward to getting his operation done. I'll go to his house on the day, stay with his wife, then fetch him when he's ready to go home(he'll need a wheelchair as he won't be able to put his prosthetic lag on for a while)and I'll stay at their house for a few days. That will be fun grin. Love to all xx

Anniebach Sat 20-Aug-22 10:05:38

Hi all x

nanny pets are a joy, we use to have dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, a tortoise but never a chicken or snake.

May I ask? Do you live in a remote area, a village or small town?

Scaredycat you were so looking forward to seeing your son, it
will come my love x

Doodle I hope events are still calmer, I so understand the
anxiety and exhaustion which worries for loved ones bring x

HVDY I have a banana board but can’t lift it with just thumb
and forefinger! But to quote Baldrick - ‘I have a cunning plan’ x

VioletSky no way do I go to bed at 7.30, how are you? x

Sweetpeasue I was surprised that you have been prescribed
Valium, I assume 2 or 5mgs. Did your GP advise to take them when needed ?

How is everyone?

Sweetpeasue Sat 20-Aug-22 09:13:20

Nanny Oh what a lot of animals. They must keep you so busy but give so much enjoyment. Not sure I could cope with snakes though! ?. Do you get nice fresh eggs from your chickens? I've heard they can be quite affectionate and like being held. I'm thinking you must live in the country and have some space. It must be lovely to have the quietness and privacy but I can see it could have disadvantages of not having friends nearby. I hope your animals continue to give you warmth and pleasure. Hope you have a good day with your DH.

Doodle I've not had Diazapam before. I'll only take it if necessary. The GP has primed others Dr's about situation so I know she's done all she can. I do hope your anxiety about your family has eased a little, even though as you say, it is an ongoing concern for you all. It must be so hard when you feel helpless and I'm so sorry you're all having to go through this. Wishing you all well and hope you have a less stressful weekend.

Thinking of everyone and hope you all have a good weekend.

nanny2507 Fri 19-Aug-22 22:51:51

Sadly I do not have any friends or family near me. If I ever need to have a coffee with a friend for an hours break I cant. There isn't anybody. The last time I spent time with my cousins I had to drive for 3 hours and spend 2 nights at a hotel..alone.

nanny2507 Fri 19-Aug-22 22:41:16

I have a few animals...7 cats ,3 dogs, a gecko, 2 snakes, about 100 chickens, 13 ducks and 9 geese. With these chicks such as chica we won't know until they are about 7 months old. If they have a big red comb on the head they are boys. The geese are west of England so you know when they hatch as boys and girls are different markings. You only know what sex ducks are when they make noise. Females quack and males rasp. I think or is it the other way round ?
