Hello. I've always had low blood pressure until the last few months and now it's much higher. It's not way up but I'm concerned because I don't want it to get any worse. I will of course have it checked, but wondered how you manage with yours if its high. I walk a lot and eat mostly whole foods plant based, but I do have under active thyroid. Its puzzling.

My bp is also quite low but does increase if I am
stressing about something, could that be a reason ? I would probably contact the surgery,

My BP is well controlled on meds but it goes up if i need to take painkillers. Are you taking something that could raise it? Do see your GP though.

Do you take your readings at the same time each day (or roughly the same time)?

Usually, blood pressure starts to rise a few hours before you wake up. It continues to rise during the day, peaking in midday. Blood pressure normally drops in the late afternoon and evening. (Mayo Clinic).

It's important to measure it consistently. And, relax for 3 minutes prior to monitoring it. My GP told me to do this x 3 and then take the average reading.

The issue with Hypothyroidism, is that your oxygen consumption can be decreased, which will of course increase your blood pressure.

If it's not too big an increase I wouldn't stress about it - but take the readings for a couple of weeks and then let your GP have them, and ask for an 'opinion'!

I was in the same position as you, always had low blood pressure, had a healthy life style including a low salt diet but my blood pressure went up. I also have a under active thyroid and put the blood pressure rise due to the medication I take. To help it I drink decaf coffee or tea especially within 3 hours of taking my medication, I was advised this by a consultant at a hospital that I saw for something else.
