I have just been prescribed Creon 10000 for Pancreatic Exocrin Insufficiency. GP said to take one or two capsules three times a day with meals.
I have read online that you've to take them with snacks too. I was wondering if anyone has any experience of taking this medication. confused
I was thinking of having a packet of crisps this evening, well it's Friday!blush so should I take another capsule?hmm
Thank you for any help with this.thanks

I took that immediately after a distal pancreatectomy (removal of part of my pancreas). Unless I took sufficient capsules whatever I ate left me in the same state (exactly) as I consumed it.

All you can go by is trial and error I think. Maybe eat the crisps without a capsule and you'll know by the result whether you need one next time... I took one or more with everything. I even had to munch some during meals!

Thank you for replying. I did have the crisps with no reaction thankfully. It seems it's going to be trial and error. Many thanks thanks

Hi Rascal I take Creon and in fact I run a closed Facebook Group for people living with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. If you fancy joining, send me a PM.

Meanwhile, yes you should be taking Creon with everything you eat, including snacks. Also with smoothies or milky drinks if they have a lot of cream/milk.

The fact that you "got away with" eating your bag of crisps may be because your pancreas is still making a few enzymes by itself.

We always advise our group members to keep a food diary to help identify any problem foods and to track Creon dosages.

This problem with fats has crept up gradually. I'm just not sure what I'm doing. As the gp said one or two three times a day with meals but online there is different advice. thanks

In our Group we have found that many doctors all over the world, and gastroenterologists too, frequently give the wrong information .... or no advice whatsoever. We have nearly 5,000 members in the Group from all different countries, and most of them complaining!! shock

I received your tester private message.
