Thread veins on legs

I had thread vein treatment when I worked in Germany.. it was a series of small injections around the inside of both knees ..not too painful..was then told not to go out in the sun for a period of time and more importantly, stop crossing legs …

Am I right in thinking that thread veins and varicose veins are two different things? I have had thread veins at the top of my legs for many years but don't have varicose veins, thankfully.

As I said earlier, maybe it's due to thin skin.
My left leg has been a bit better since I've been massaging with Ialuset creme which contains hyuloranic acid?? Which is also used for injections into painfil knee joints to promote regrowth of cartilage.

I have them as well, on my legs and around my ankles. I think I have to live with them as a friend paid quite a lot to have hers removed but they came back.

I had a trial of laser for these and it was the most bloody painful thing I have ever had - there is no way I could undertake that plus as others have said they can come back.

Having been put on anti-coagulants, my varicose veins are now joined by ugly bruises on top of my feet. I have tried using Dermablend which does conceal the worst of the discoloration, but most of the time I wear trousers, as I keep meaning to self-tan but forget - it does seem a lot of faff! Lots of us in the same boat here, but at least we are still afloat!

I have very obvious protruding veins on both lower legs - they look like snakes on the surface of the skin. Plus my lower legs ache if I walk any distance. I always thought varicose veins were purple and under the surface, but these look like they've just been stuck onto the skin.

I was going to speak to my GP about getting something done, but the consensus on this thread seems to be that it's a waste of time.

I don't mind about the appearance of my legs, but I think the ache when I walk must be because of the veins.

Is there any point in contacting my GP?

20 years ago I paid big money to have my legs done. Within a year the veins had come back worse than ever. I inherited the veins from Mum and Dad who both suffered badly with them. My brother was lucky and still has good looking legs at 82.

Mine are right down to my feet they have got worse over the years. My sisters both had treatment for theirs but they soon came back.
My legs look tattooed I wear longer skirts and fake tan in the summer and knee length skirts and thick tights in winter.

DillytheGardener I bought the Body make up. I bought medium as my legs have a bit of tan, it doesn't come off on clothes or my bed linen and coverage was really very good. I did moisturise well the day before. I'm impressed and will continue to use it. Doesn't smell like the other tan stuff I've used.

Sorry for bad news as living here, in France, there is treatment. I had mine stripped 30 odd years ago and have worn compressed tights ever since, even had injections but to no avail they come back.
If I don’t wear tights, my legs swell up so I stick it out, even through hot weather as it gets worse then.
Just wear dresses for special occasions otherwise trousers or jeans.

foxie48 which particular product did you buy from their line? And how did you select your colour, and how do you apply and does it mark clothing?
I’ve tried so many products to cover my spider veins to no avail.

I'm similarly affected, it seems to run in my family as father and sister also had horrible veins on their legs. I has started to use a product Vita Liberata, it's heavy duty concealer and it's very effective. I got some from Boots last week and there was a 30% discount on it.

I have terrible veins on both legs....very unsightly. I put it down to four babies, jobs which involved a lot of standing and inheritance from my mum and grand mother who both suffered with the same!!!!

I bruise very easily on my legs and have started putting hirudoid cream on any bruising now. It was actually DH’s when he had an infected vein but he’s now on blood thinners. It takes the bruising down very quickly.

I have them - my legs are a real eyesore. I also have bulging veins on my hands. It means there's no problem finding a vein to take a blood sample. I think it's because we have very thin skin.

I noticed these years ago an my mum, aunt and gran had very bad veins so I started taking Red Vine Leaf tablets for healthy leg veins. The ones I had did improve in appearance but didn't disappear and I've never had any more.

You can have laser/light treatment if they bother you. I think the heat under the skin causes them to close up - but suspect they'll just come back.

I have phlebitis which is what I believe you are describing. If it is purely cosmetic then you won’t get treatment on the NHS.

I tried having it done privately in California. Easy treatment, hated having to wear compression stockings for ages. In the end it didn’t improve it.

Frankly I eventually realised what my lovely U.K. GP told me and that was, nobody who knows you, or will want to know you in the future will care the slightest bit about a mark on your legs. You are awesome, live with it.
