So now i've started wearing a mask again and always in Pharmacy where the staff have always done and also in the GP surgery when I've gone to get results or ask about a health issue?

M0nica

garnet25 many NHS staff refuse to be vaccinated. Just saying.

Whereas care staff had no choice it was either take the vaccination or lose your job…. I think it’s disgraceful the way they backtracked on this..

Yes I’m wearing one public transport, drs, hospital. Chemist you name it

Jaxjacky Sat 02-Jul-22 18:08:34

We wear one where required, no longer in the pharmacy, local hospitals had dropped the requirement but have just reintroduced it yesterday. I see Brittany Ferries have just said masks obligatory again.
Ive always worn one doing my voluntary driving.

If I see so someone wearing a mask outside I immediately assume they actually HAVE Covid,. I wear one when asked but even my dentist now says they are optional in the waiting room.

I do on public transport and in supermarket.

Going back to masks for sure, German grade medi ones. I got foolishly complacent and came down with covid ten days ago. It is not a three day thing or like a cold, more like an energy sapping bad case of flu. I dont care what looks i get, my body, my choice! Where I live, all the Chinese community wear them, all ages. Also considering where to move to where most socialising occurs otdoors, otherwise its walks and picnics for the forseeable......

Oh please no, not back to mask wearing.
Obviously should it become mandatory in certain circumstances then I will have to but I really hoped we’d seen the end of them after all this time.

My DH has always been the Covid police and when he was still wearing his mask last week while shopping in M&S I thought he was being overcautious when no one else was. Due to the numbers rising I am going to start again as from today when I am in confined places with a lot of people. I don't care who stares.
But it is a big one we have family visiting multiply times during the summer and looking after GD for a week do I dare ask them to do a test before arriving?

I think if you are prepared to provide the tests or pay for them.

then thats fine....I get mine free still as I'm NHS...
But otherwise they have to be paid for these days

Marydoll Sat 02-Jul-22 23:24:42

After having recently been reassessed, I'm still classed as CEV, mine are free, in Scotland. Is it the same in the rest of the UK?

Nanascats Sat 02-Jul-22 23:31:07

I haven’t ever stopped wearing a mask in shops or public buildings. I wear an FFP2 or FFP3 type though so I get some protection. I wouldn’t dream of going on a flight without a mask, nor in the airport. I’m obliged to wear a mask when I visit my mother in her care home, but they insist visitors wear one of their masks. I still test a couple of times a week, in particular to protect my mother and the other elderly residents, and as I have two friends who have cancer (one recently finished her treatment and is now cancer free) so I always test before I see them. When I travelled by train up to London recently I didn’t wear a mask on the way up as there was no one anywhere near me and the train was nearly empty, but on the way back it was full of people. I wore my mask. I was the only one doing so.

Why does it bother you if other people want to wear them?

GrauntyHelen Sun 03-Jul-22 01:13:40

I haven't stopped on public transport and in busy areas The rate here is one in eighteen My friends birthday party just been cancelled as family have it I won't be stopping any time soon

Athrawes Sun 03-Jul-22 11:07:37

I don't usually wear a mask any more but I did last night when I went to a concert. The number of singers was quite large and the theatre was small. I think I was the only one though!

Daisymae Sun 03-Jul-22 12:51:56

Have just stopped wearing one in a garden centre. Have only been to a supermarket twice in over 2 years. Lots of people in an enclosed space - I would definitely wear a mask. I think that society has been very complacent. I also think that we may be in for a terrible winter with a double whammy of Corona and flu. There's no easy way out of this muddle. Have to assess our own risk. Never mind though we have Johnson and his team to steer the country through.

Just read this. Why no official advice?https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jul/03/uk-health-chiefs-brace-for-bumpy-ride-amid-fears-over-covid-wave?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

I didn’t say it bothers me did I growstuff?
If others wish to continue/resume mask wearing, fine.
I just hope it doesn’t come to that.

I'm never wearing a mask again. They're pointless and make me panic

Kate1949 Sun 03-Jul-22 18:03:22

The way me and my husband are feeling at the moment with Covid, despite him having 4 jabs and me 3, I would wear a gas mask if they told me to.

No, they're not pointless, but it's up to you. Maybe you should seek counselling if covering your mouth and nose makes you panic.
