Yes, I know using capitals means shouting!

Shouting is needed for this.

Here we go again!!!!

I am seriously struggling with it - I feel very dehydrated despite drinking continually throughout the day. I have a nasty little auto-immune condition which dehydrates me anyway, so take tablets to increase my tears and saliva etc so I always drink a lot anyway, but that generally means I need to go to the loo about every 30 minutes - over the last few days it has dropped down to 3 times in the day! On top of that I also suffer from a dysregulated temperature control, so am continually sweating too, and do have tablets to stop that too but that just dehydrates me even more so rarely take them.

I live in a conservatory, which does have air-conditioning but to be honest I cannot afford to put it on, although have done as it has been unbearable!

It's making me feel really poorly, and I am absolutely dreading Sunday onwards!!

You can't go on like that.
Try some of the suggestions here, or at least put a cool damp towel on the back of your neck.
Try a,little pinch of salt in your next drink, please?

When we lived in Seychelles, OH took salt tablets as he worked outside quite a lot. Cairo was a lot hotter when he lived there but he was driven from his air conditioned house in an air conditioned car to his air conditioned office. We tended not to go outside before 6 pm.

All these dire weather warnings! We’ve actually had heatwaves before now (yes, really!) but you would never think it with all the media and met office panic about pollution, sunburn, sunstroke, adequate hydration etc etc! I remember the glorious summer of 1976 when the sun seemed to shine forever and there was no nanny state to keep a concerned eye on proceedings! Never mind, it will be winter soon enough with the warnings of hypothermia, snow induced chaos and failed gritters! Ah well….

MissAdventure Thu 14-Jul-22 18:21:56

Hence I can't see what,I'm writing half the time. angry
So excuse all the mistakes and commas.

MissAdventure Thu 14-Jul-22 18:20:53

I also take pills to make me eyes lu riveted, which make me dribble.
Even that has dried up, these last few days.

Between 21C and 24C is just right!

MissAdventure Thu 14-Jul-22 17:39:10

I think it was in the low 40s once when I was on holiday.
I hate it!!

Callistemon21 Thu 14-Jul-22 17:33:43

MissAdventure

Urgh!! 45.
Sounds like hell on earth.
Literally .

I was saying how hot it was in Oz one year (39C) and DD's FIL said he remembered when it got to 50C when the wind came from the desert.

Ditto to some salt with your water.
An extreme case, I know, but when in Darwin (Oz) a few years ago, during an incredibly humid period, we were exhorted while on a tour to drink plenty of water, but nobody mentioned salt - probably because it’s a dirty word nowadays.

The humidity was such that I was practically wringing my hair out every few minutes, and started to feel terribly tired. But it occurred to me that when we were living in Oman, where for a couple of months each summer we’d get the tail end of the monsoon - no rain, but about 100% humidity - we all took salt tablets, which were provided by the company.

After recalling that, I put plenty of salt on my chips at lunch (buffalo pie or quiche!) and felt much better afterwards.

It is summer, a bit hotter than expected, so what, we've had this before and no-one gave out instructions or warnings of this sort, personally there are too many people trying to scare us all, nothing to do now that we have become used to Covid.

I know I should have bought that icecream maker ?

AGAA4 Thu 14-Jul-22 15:32:35

I have just bought a big tub of ice cream. I've been eating salad all week as a healthy low cal meal.
Should save the ice cream for Monday when it's expected to be 33 degrees here. I'm fooling myself that I won't put weight on in such hot weather ?

MawtheMerrier Thu 14-Jul-22 15:30:56

Sago

I’ve just been to Lidl and come home with an ice making machine, I’ve filled it with water, switched it on and the first cubes came off the production line within 10 minutes.
So lots of ice cold gin and tonics to sip whilst I worry about the hot weather?.

All you need now Sago is your own gin still and a Sodastream for the tonic!
Oh and a lemon tree ?

merlotgran Thu 14-Jul-22 15:20:51

It’s 26C here so I came back from Aldi with these!

Bit daft really because I’m supposed to be counting calories and watching carbs. ?

It's a pleasant 22C here today.

However it is due to get hotter

We live within 12 miles of the Met Office and ignore their forces as it is never right!
