Have a family member about to be prescribed this, very early days yet, enlarged prostrate etc, tests coming up, flow test. Possibly prostrate biopsy depending on outcome of scans, sounds really scary, dr did mention catheter, Anyone had to endure prostrate biopsy or catheter, sounds very scary

I don't know what these medications are. However, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014. He had to undergo a prostate biopsy which wasn't very pleasant. However after 37 days of radiotherapy plus hormone injections, he has been in remission ever since.

Tamsulosin is prescribed to men with an enlarged prostate gland to help with the flow of urine.
Flomax is one of the brand names for Tamulosin.

I thought it was prescribed for benign prostate enlargement but please check with the GP.
I think an operation can be carried out to reduce the size of a benign enlarged prostate gland.

However, please ask someone medically qualified as my information is anecdotal only.
The GP should be sending blood samples for PSA screening.
