Try not to worry. Each time my husband had a colonoscopy he had at least 8 samples taken and waited a long time to hear that they were Ok, Most often they are benign - usually in the form of polyps. I had fewer tested and one was found to be cancerous - it was still quite a time till I heard but it was removed successfully and I'm now in my 3rd year of check ups with no further problems

I had a colonoscopy in March after bowel cancer screening. I got my results after 2 weeks. They had removed several polyps which were found to be pre-cancerous.
I have to have another colonoscopy in September in case they missed any.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and endometrial cancer last November. I received the results within 2 weeks in both cases so I should think it’s a good sign that you should expect your results after 6 weeks.
However it must be horrible to have to wait for them for so long. I hope everything will be OK.

How many tissue samples taken is the norm when undergoing a colonoscopy? Just anxious as had 10 taken and now waiting on pathology results which seem to take 2-4 wks but now informed 6+ weeks...would they contact you sooner if the results are serious?
