I hadn't heard of copper causing problems .
I thought that aluminium was detrimental .

I think that one of the major triggering factors is chemical, especially agricultural chemicals. Sheep dip was known to trigger MND in susceptible individuals. And round here there are/were 10 cases of PD (including my OH) - this is in a very very sparsely populated rural area, so this cluster of cases is very significant. My OH (who was a doc) was sure it was chemical related.

My Auntie always wore copper bracelets for arthritis. She also got Parkinson’s disease. Makes you wonder.

I've sometimes worn a copper bracelet, but not recently. But never owned any copper pans.
Also I've heard somewhere about a link between aluminium and dementia, but don't know if it's true.

Unless a copper pan is lined with a barrier, it is unwise to use it in direct contact with food.
There’s advice on the web.

I don't know if getting rid of your one copper saucepan will prevent you from getting Parkinson's - copper is naturally in many foodstuffs e.g. fish, offal, nuts and beans.

It's an essential trace element that we all need, in the correct amount of course, and how would we know how much we're ingesting?

I can't open that link (apart from the title) but here's another paper, which suggests that both an excess or lack of copper could be responsible for the progression of Parkinson's:

I wear a copper bangle, it seems to help ease the pain of my Arthritis.

“an increasing number of studies, including a recent preprint by Khurana and Krolewski, are strengthening the case for a link between copper exposure and Parkinson’s disease pathogenesis.
This body of evidence … now spans epidemiology, cell biology and biophysics.

It's the opposite. Brains in people with Parkinson's have a decreased level of copper.

I have just read a scientific paper suggesting a link between copper and Parkinson’s disease. I imagine that chemical exposure is a possibility but what about dietary? The only copper saucepan I use is a lovely jelly pan.
Should I get rid of it do you think?
How else might one be exposed to copper?
