The heat and arthritis

Although most folk with arthritis find the cold makes it worse, there are a minority who suffer more in the heat. I knew a consultant who reckoned it was about 10%, and mostly he said, the very fair skinned.
Personally, I find any change in weather, and any stress makes it worse. so I am glad that I live in a (mostly) temperate climate and in a very well insulated house.

I've certainly swollen up more in this heat.

My hips and knees have been really painful in the very hot weather. Apparently it can be caused by high barometric pressure which can make the synovial fluid around the joints swell. Plus, we tend to retain more fluid in hot weather, which can make some people feel bloated too.

Very damp, cold weather (it's always a bit damp where I live – temperate rainforest) has an effect on my arthritis, I think.

I am finding this extreme heat making my joints sore - the usual suspects plus my toes and fingers which normal do not give too much of a problem.

Mine is worse. Everything that can ache, does.

Definitely much less pain when it's hot like this.

I have pain from several joints nearly all year but the warmer weather gives me some relief.

Same as Aveline, although I hate this extreme heat, my knees are definitely less painful. Catch22 really!

I always found that my joints eased if I was somewhere warm. Often seemed sorer in cold/damp weather.

I read there may be a link between very hot wearther and very cold weather having an effect on arthritis pain. Has anyone experienced it? I don't know if it is the heat or whether I can't be bothered to do my exercises!!
