I understand once you reach the cut off age of 75 you can still ask the NHS to send the test kits, they just don't send them automatically

Scotland start testing at 50. If England did the same my husbands bowel cancer would have been picked up earlier and not be stage 4! GP told him it was piles. Definitely encourage everyone to do this simple test - it could save a life

i had bowel cancer 3 years ago, my doctor thought it was ibs, it was a blood test that started the ball rolling, my iron count was at 3 meaning i was bleeding somewhere inside, after a scan and colonoscopy i found out i had a cancerous tumor, the surgeon gave me 6 months without surgery, they removed the tumor and half my bowel but it was worth it as my grandson was born the day after my surgery and as they got all the tumor i did not need chemo, my brother called a year later and he had been sent a bowel screening kit, he did it and was diagnosed as having diverticula and has periods of infection known as diverticulitis. i would urge anyone who can take the test to do so, my symptoms of diarrhea, sickness and being tired all the time turned out to be cancer, i a, probably going to cancer again as my surgeon said the cancer did not start in my bowel so i probably it is somewhere in my body and it will decide if it is going to come back.
