Continuous sweet smell in nose .

gillyknits have you had a full panel blood test that tests for everything? Has your GP sent a sample of your urine to be tested? If not ask it to be done. Unfortunately don't know what could be wrong but these tests should be the first course of action.

I had these tests done lastApril for an over 75 examination. All were clear.

Is the smell like pear drops? And does your breathe smell of them? If so then look into diabetes. ie Flixonase spray daily for the blocked nose if its allergy connected. Otherwise your sinuses need to get cleared- steam inhalations etc. Definitely focus on clearing your sinuses.

I had the strange smell of Marlboro cigarettes in my nose when I was in my 20's and the GP put it down to stress. I thought he was just fobbing me off but it was. In the last year, I had tests for an autoimmune condition because I couldn't taste things and had big red patches break out on my eyelids. The tests showed nothing and Dr's were baffled. However, my Mum went into a home and the weight of looking after her lifted from my shoulders. Within a short time, the red patches disappeared and my taste came back. I am convinced it was stress.

Get. Tested for diabetes

I’ve been tested for type 2 diabetes and it was negative. No breath smell of pear drops either.
Will just have to wait 6 months for an ENT appointment . If it was a bad smell I would think infection but it is like candy floss!

6 months for an ENT appointment !!!
That's disgraceful, I hadn't realised things had got that bad in the UK.

Yes I’ve waited six months for an ent appointment still haven’t got it. Bit perforated ear drum can’t hear anything in right ear. Work with children and can’t hear them on my right side nuisance!

Appalling that you can't have this checked now .

My daughter and I use Neti pots to clean out our sinuses whenever they are blocked .
Her sinuses are too small and I occasionally get post nasal drip .
Used hygienically -they are excellent and harmless .
But please read the instructions .

Have you had Covid ?
Some people are reporting strange smells afterwards .

Staying on the farm -
decomposing flesh from rats in an old barn has also caused strange lingering smells though they have been more unpleasant than sweet .
And it didn't affect everyone in the family .

I hope that this problem resolves itself .
