Advice after pancreatitis

Sophiasnana my friend had the exact same thing just over a year ago, as others have said, for now seek medical advice, perhaps the hospital you were in?
However, my friend now eats and drinks what she likes, including alcohol.

Didn’t Rosemary Connelly devise the low fat diet because she needed to have her gall bladder removed but she decided to cut out fat from her diet instead and found that she lost weight off her hips and thighs?

As one who has had her gallbladder removed and had several bouts of pancreatitis I would strongly agree with those advising you to seek medical advice, possibly ask to be referred to a gastroenterologist at your local hospital.

Does your GP surgery have a Practice Nurse? It might be worthwhile requesting a call back from them. They will have access to notes regarding your hospital stay and should be able to offer advice.

Riverwalk, checking with my GP not an easy option these days! I actually ended up in a hospital hundreds of miles away from home. We were going on holiday that day and I was having some twinges so I phoned my GP that morning for some advice about going away. The GP just never phoned back. Three weeks later and never heard a thing. Have no faith in our local GP surgery I’m afraid

If alcohol was the cause of the pancreatitis then you do need to avoid it, however if the attack was caused solely by the gallstones then you don't usually need to avoid alcohol.

As ever you need to check with your GP.

All I know about pancreatitis I’m afraid is that it’s important to avoid eating fat. I wonder if the no drinking rule is due to the gall bladder removal?
