About three weeks ago I woke up one Saturday for a dawn toilet visit with my dog - and felt very, very unsteady on my feet as though I was really drunk, I had to hold onto the walls.
I had my late husband's BP machine and started taking it three times a day - it was high. I was off balance the whole weekend.
I phoned the doctor's surgery on the Monday morning and got a call back, doctor diagnosed vertigo and said to get some travel sickness tablets containing cinnarizine, I was able to drive that day, and bought Stugeron from the pharmacy. I took the advised 3 per day for balance problems and had good and bad and very bad days for another week. Blood pressure was slightly lower. On the Sunday I could hardly walk at all again, so rang the doctor's surgery again on the Monday.
Again, just a call back from a doctor, but he said he thought I should be seen and made me an appointment for later that afternoon. I had to get the bus as I couldn't drive, and took an umbrella for balance for the ten minute walk to the bus stop. The doctor did a few physical tests and said she diagnosed labyrinthitis, caused by a virus. I received a follow up call on Friday.
This weekend was the third week I've had it, and I felt a bit better yesterday, and was able to drive. I was able to drive again today and had a dental hygienist appointment this afternoon - what a mistake! I hadn't even thought of lying down in the chair, and when I got up was off balance again.
Has anyone on here had this virus recently? Another dog walker's wife has it so badly she can't get out of bed.
Positive news, positive thoughts, happy weekend.
