Princess Grace hospital cancelled vital surgery for a woman who requested female-only staff and would not accept a transwoman nurse as female.

After many, many complaints from individuals HCA Healthcare UK (owner of Princess Grace Hospital) has now offered the surgery involving female-only staff, at its Wellington Hospital in London on October 31 .

I don’t think Fleur that the feeling of wanting to be one of the “persecuted” is enough to make you one of that band.

Without equating this debate to other issues like racism, I have been part of protests with communities, have lived alongside them and been immersed in their culture. But a no time have I or they ever considered me to be one of them or that I could somehow transform into what it means to be them.

It must be more than that to change gender surely. A need that would be a need regardless of any outside circumstances.

I think many of the women involved in the issue of single sex spaces etc hold enormous amounts of knowledge, and expertise so I wouldnt worry too much.

There's a lot of things in the world that are important that don't have anything to do with "single sex spaces etc".

So I'll keep on worrying about people being taken in by misleading headlines, thanks.

If you Google fair play for women you should find it. It was the result of a freedom of information request.

Media, not just social media.

Did they agree to stop recording crimes by gender and revert to biological sex lathyrus? It's in the back of my mind that that was agreed recently so that may help with future statistics if I have got my information right.

I think it has been agreed temporarily pending thevAll party investigation. Several years statistics will be clouded however and will no doubt be quoted.

this is about law. Some of you are so naive as to what happens outside of your own lives and lifestyles

Galaxy Wed 02-Nov-22 20:43:07

Thanks Lathyrus I hoped I hadnt imagined it.

Transwomen are men, they have the same pattern of offending as men I am afraid.

Do you have a link or links to that effect. Males who have transitioned to females have to take a lot of hormones that will change the tendency for male aggression.

Fleur,if you just put something like sexual convictions of transwomen into Google you will find a number of studies.

You will have to put it in like that though with the word “convictions” or you will find them difficult to locate.

Not all trans take hormones but actually I don’t think we can put sexual violence down to hormones particularly. After all, all males have hormones but it’s a minority that are sexually violent.

Perhaps you're unaware, but there's no obligation to take hormones or consider surgery to transition, not even to get a GRC. Alex Drummond is a transwoman lesbian. Alex has no intention of ever taking hormones let alone consider surgery. I'm not sure there's evidence that taking hormones does decrease any tendency to aggression or violence anyway.

Iam64 Wed 02-Nov-22 21:16:26

Galaxy is correct. Research shows trans women commit sexual/violent offences in the same way men do.

Iam64 Wed 02-Nov-22 21:27:21

2018 MoJ statistics showed half the people in prison who declare themselves transgender have been sentenced with one or more sexual offences. Clear evidence the vast majority were born male. The conclusion, that transgender women exhibit a male type pattern of criminality.

VioletSky Wed 02-Nov-22 21:28:00

Genuinely I would like to see evidence that trans women commit crimes at the same rate as men. I would also like to know how this data is quantified because obviously all trans people are not out and not all necessarily correlated in data anywhere.

Genuine question because I can't find anything

Also "trans women commit sexual/violent offences in the same way men do"

That statement sounds far too generalised

And can I also please see the evidence that those committing these crimes are genuinely trans, and not men fetishising woman or masquerading as trans

These are important questions

And the trans community as a whole bears no responsibility and saying they do would be discrimination

Doodledog Wed 02-Nov-22 21:43:18

And the trans community as a whole bears no responsibility and saying they do would be discrimination

Saying that they do would be generalising, which might lead to stereotyping and then to prejudice, and those things might, if acted upon, lead to discrimination smile.

On the subject of sexual offences, does anyone have an opinion on why some are pushing for crime stats to be recorded on the basis of 'gender' rather than sex, and why others are very unhappy about this? Similarly, why might it be that there are those who would prefer to see rape reclassified to include penetration with anything, rather than as is currently the case, penetration with a penis, and why others would see that as a retrograde step?

FarNorth Wed 02-Nov-22 21:44:21

Perhaps you're unaware, but there's no obligation to take hormones or consider surgery to transition, not even to get a GRC.
So, 'being a transwoman' is actually quite attractive to abusive men such as most of the male prisoners who claim to be 'transwomen' .

Galaxy Wed 02-Nov-22 21:48:08

What do you mean bears no responsibility. My brother is not allowed in female spaces, this is not because he holds responsibility for the crimes of the Male sex, it is because he is of the Male sex.

VioletSky Wed 02-Nov-22 21:49:15

No doodledog

If you someone is actively saying untrue damaging things about trans people in the public eye that is discrimination

Prejudice is simply thinking it

I've explained this

Anyway I did the maths

It looks like in 2021 about 0.22% of the male population was in prison and about 0.07% of the estimated trans women population was in prison... so things just aren't adding up for me

Anyway I'll look into it more another day, especially what percentage of the female population is in prison

Maybe

Doodledog Wed 02-Nov-22 21:52:13

Sorry to disappoint you, but you explaining it doesn't make it so, VS. Trust me. Or don't, but a cursory Google will help you out.

Galaxy Wed 02-Nov-22 21:52:23

It's about the type of crimes as well they obviously differ greatly between men and women as we all know.

Lathyrus Wed 02-Nov-22 21:52:28

I actually thought that quite a lot of the safe spaces for women movement has focused on the likelihood that there are a number of males with a fetish and masquerading as trans and that it is impossible to tell the difference between them and “genuine” trans.

And this is why women need safe spaces where anybody identifying as trans cannot come.

Doodledog Wed 02-Nov-22 21:54:49

The whole point of women's spaces is that men cannot enter them. Allowing any men entry, however they 'identify' will effectively mean that women no longer have anywhere where they can't be followed by men.

I'm right, I already checked

VioletSky Wed 02-Nov-22 21:57:30

Again to add to the mix we need to understand if those people have genuine gender dysphoria

Can anyone tell me how we do that and if it matters to you?

It matters to me

Anyway bed time
