No, oddly enough. I was measured very recently at a medical assessment and I am still five feet and half an inch tall. I’ve wanted all my life to be taller! Too late now!

Exactly! I have gone from 5 ft 5 to 5ft 3. Annoying as there are so many things I can’t reach now especially as I have comparatively short arms. 👎

I was 5ft 4.5 inches. I am now 5ft 2inches. Part of that is because I have a crushed vertibrae in my back. When this was found out I was sent for a DEXA scan in case I had osteoporisis. I haven't. I mpretty sure the damage was done about 12 years when i had a really bad slip on a wet grassy slope and my back was excruciatingly painful for several months.

Looking it up a woman can expect to lose up to 2inches in height between 50 and 80. Most in the body because most of the lost height is caused by the cartilege disks between the vertibrae becoming thinner, it also explains thickening waists after the menopause. as the organs are compressed by the reduceed length of the spine.

You might want to get yourself measured again. In May, I had apparently lost 2 centimetres, when I was measured in hospital. When I was measured again two weeks ago, I'd regained the 2 centimetres!

sweetcakes

I've gone 5ft 4 to 5ft and a 1/4 of a inch in the last 10 years but 4 inches that's a lot!

It is, but, to be fair, I don’t know how long it has been since I was last accurately measured, or even how tall I was then. It could easily be ten years or more.

For a while now I’ve been saying that Marks and Spencer’s regular length trousers are anything but regular. At a hospital appointment yesterday, it seems I have lost nearly four inches over the last few years! Strange that I’ve never noticed it with my other clothes.
I know some height loss is common, but this seems a lot. I take Alendronic Acid to prevent osteoporosis, so I’ll be interested to hear what the doc has to say when I see him/her next week.
