I had the very basic fitbit, and DH had the one with the heart monitor. We bought ours about 7 years ago, and they have come along way with more functions now. Even the most basic of fitbits now monitors heart rate, to see if you are in cardio zone, etc.
I wore mine steadily for about 4 years, but fell out of habit with it. I did tend to get a bit obsessed about tracking everything!
I did not care if I had phone or email notifications (by vibrate), nor did I want the ability to text or google. Some people I know have an Apple watch, and love it for these extra features.
On the fitbit site, you can compare models, and it will list all the features. Some of them you may not even be aware that the do! I see now you can access your Alexa through fitbit... if you feel a need.
One feature that I can get on my phone, (through my Strava app) but not my fitbit is elevation tracking during walk or bikeride. I understand that Apple has this feature. We have a lot of hills here, so tracking elevation during a hike is interesting.
