Hello 👋

Here is the new thread!
Thank you to regular and irregular posters all.

Especially those such as Silverling and Charleygirl who have provided so much advise and support. (There are lots of other lovely posters, but too many to list).

As well as advice, there is also much wisdom and kindness.

I will link to the first and second threads below.

Wherever you are on your replacement journey, you are most welcome to join us here smile

If your pain is hip related once the operation is done that should take the pressure from the knee? Hope so, not long now to wait fir the hip appointment.

susytish Thu 29-Jun-23 16:18:47

I had my right TKR 9 February. I was told right hip would need doing within 12 months. I have appointment on 5 July for hip referral. Have pain in back and hip and still using a crutch.
Doing exercises daily but not going out much and only nearby.
Thought by now would be skipping along!

The doctor struggled to contain his yawning wonder how many hours he had worked.
yesterday I set off alarms in two shops at the exit, hadnt bought anything,or wearing anything to trigger it,wonder if it was my shiny new hip triggering the alarmgrin
Charley I think it is assumed that we all have cars

downtoearth that treatment would have frustrated me enormously. It appears to be forgotten you have to travel a distance, then sit in a waiting room to be seen and shown the door in 2 minutes. The only good thing is that your hip is fine!

SL thankyou

silverlining48 Sat 24-Jun-23 13:33:46

THAt was fast dte but you have a 6 month appointment, which I would have liked but wasn’t offered. My op was in a small private clinic but on the nhs due to circumstances of a lost referral from surgery or local hospital. Have never found out which.
Glad all is well. How nice your gd is staying. Enjoy.

downtoearth Sat 24-Jun-23 09:06:42

My appointment the hospital was less than two minutes, told me the op was sucessful, keep up the exercise, next patient please! See you in 6 months,2 buses there and 2 home the travelling took a lot longer and was a workout on its own.grin
DGD now staying until sunday.

silverlining48 Fri 23-Jun-23 11:18:39

Have a good day enjoy seeing your gd and and hope all goes well with your appointment dte.

I had to, especially after having my first knee done. I could not sleep on my side for months.

We were numero uno in Active for the first time in months.

Birdbrain here forgot it was Friday and could not understand why you guys had all been putting the wrong date.

Please do not worry I am waiting for the men in white coats.

91 is a good age- I hope she makes it and enjoys the pain-free freedom of her new hip.

silverlining48 Fri 23-Jun-23 08:10:29

We know the best thing about having new hips and knees but thinking about the worst from my point of view it was having to sleep on my back fir so long.

silverlining48 Fri 23-Jun-23 08:05:21

No luck on Active yet ....

silverlining48 Fri 23-Jun-23 08:04:43

silverlining48 Thu 22-Jun-23 21:23:33

Giving this another go ....

silverlining48 Thu 22-Jun-23 21:22:50

Given her age I hope she gets her operation earlier than 18 months. She might discuss with GP who can refer her to have her operation on the nhs at a private hospital.
Or ring the Nhs consultant’s secretary and enquire about cancellations.
She will feel a new woman. Best of luck.

fancythat Thu 22-Jun-23 19:17:56

My post has made it appear.

I have come on to say[havent read all the pages] that I know someone who is 91, who has just been put on the waiting list for a full hip replacement.
She has been deemed fit, so is eligible for the list. The list is 18 months long.

fancythat Thu 22-Jun-23 19:14:26

It could just be me, but I dont even see you on the last day list.

I had to do a search to find this thread.

silverlining48 Thu 15-Jun-23 07:38:39
