Hello 👋

Here is the new thread!
Thank you to regular and irregular posters all.

Especially those such as Silverling and Charleygirl who have provided so much advise and support. (There are lots of other lovely posters, but too many to list).

As well as advice, there is also much wisdom and kindness.

I will link to the first and second threads below.

Wherever you are on your replacement journey, you are most welcome to join us here smile

No where at all ...... sad

silverlining48 Tue 21-Mar-23 13:06:13

Its been like this for ages Charleygirl. I dint know why, but yes when we hardly get onto Active posts its only those in the know who know we are here. I wonder if the other long term threads have the same problem. Soop, Black dog and Estrangement etc.
Every time i post I check and if its anywgere at all its already down at the bottom.

Charleygirl5 Tue 21-Mar-23 11:19:18

I checked immediately, second from the bottom. Who is going to know about us if they have a query?

Charleygirl5 Tue 21-Mar-23 11:16:32

Susytish I am aware of how you feel because I also have a problem with my right hip. My right knee was replaced before the left and I did think my "normal" hips would "see me out" but I am now thinking maybe not.

You are fortunate to have spring and summer to get you back on your feet again but please, in your own time.

There are times when I think this thread is treated as second class as we rarely reach Active and if we do, it is for seconds only.

Just walk? It's what our hips and knees are meant to do rather than static artificial exercises. It's also a much pleasanter time of year to walk around outside. Don't forget stairs are good practical exercise. Hang on to your sticks as necessary. Spring is coming sunshine

silverlining48 Tue 21-Mar-23 08:06:23

But failing ..hmm

silverlining48 Tue 21-Mar-23 08:05:01

I keep trying....

silverlining48 Tue 21-Mar-23 08:03:32

confused why do pur posts never get on the Active list?
Answer? 🤷🏾‍♀️

silverlining48 Tue 21-Mar-23 07:58:27

Would also suggest that you use two sticks when out as two keep you straight when one stick means you lean over more.
It’s still very early, patience is required.

silverlining48 Mon 20-Mar-23 23:09:44

Active not svtibe grin

silverlining48 Mon 20-Mar-23 23:07:44

This has not appeared on Svtibe so I will take the opportunity of greeting all the hipsters ( and knees) who have contributed to the thread over the past year and wishing you all well.
So pressing send...🙄

Hi Susytish
Did you speak to the physio about this? They would be best to advise. Or of course the consultant when you see them,
Personally I would do whatever you feel comfortable with because exercise does help.

susytish Mon 20-Mar-23 18:07:41

Well here I am just over 5 weeks post right TKR. Progressing slowly. I have arthritis in my right hip too, and Consultant was initially going to replace that, but I had pain in my knee not hip then, so he decided on knee.
Now I am feeling twinges in that hip, wondered whether it is to do with the exercises I am doing every day, or not walking upright, or whatever,
Would be interested to hear what others have done. Should I go back to the knee and hip exercises I did pre-op?
I go to see physio at the hospital every 10 days, went on Saturday. Going to see Consultant for 6 week check.

Charleygirl5 Fri 10-Mar-23 13:07:40

susytish it takes around 3 months before you start to feel normal again and do not forget for around 6 months post-op your knee is slowly healing with or without your help. Please try not to get too impatient and what a lovely husband you have.

As we keep reminding you, you have had major surgery and are marginally over 29 so it takes time.

FannyCornforth Fri 10-Mar-23 11:36:57

It’s on The List! 🥳

silverlining48 Fri 10-Mar-23 11:28:39

That will be the cause Susytish. It all takes time and every day you will be one day closer to recovery.
I cant believe I will be 11 months post op in a couple of days. You are a month post op, but it wont be long befire you are 6 months, then a year. Your physio is happy, you are doing well, its all good. Go girl.

susytish Fri 10-Mar-23 10:11:49

Thanks Silverlining48
I am impatient I know. I thought I was making slow progress, but my leg was painful last night and this morning I feel as though I have gone backwards. I read somewhere that this happens because the nerves, muscles, etc are healing internally, so that may be the cause.

silverlining48 Fri 10-Mar-23 08:47:36

Hello 👋 Susytish
Good to hear that you are doing ok . It’s still only 4 weeks very early so patience is needed.
Don’t forget it’s major surgery.
You will get better, but it needs time.

susytish Thu 09-Mar-23 12:56:58

Well here I am 4 weeks on. Progressing slowly. Key is doing everything they advise, physio, ice, elevate. Saw the hospital physio this week and she said I was doing well for the week I am at. I haven't had any professional physio since leaving hospital, as I cancelled the first appointment that I should have had.
I am emotional sometimes as I want to get better than I am now. I know I have to be patient!
My husband, bless him, is doing a great job doing house stuff, considering he is on chemo half the week.

FannyCornforth Mon 06-Mar-23 16:52:22

I’ll have a go
This is infuriating
I’m going to the hospital with MrC tomorrow.
I’ll have a lot of time on my hands, so I’ll email Mumsnet

silverlining48 Mon 06-Mar-23 15:54:06

GN says No!

silverlining48 Mon 06-Mar-23 15:50:36

I am back from a nice lunch with an old friend so thought I might give our invisible thread another try, here we go.....

FannyCornforth Mon 06-Mar-23 12:16:36

And now it’s dropped down.
This is my last effort.
I need to put away my shopping!

FannyCornforth Mon 06-Mar-23 12:15:27

It’s just popped up 6 threads from the bottom of the list.
Better than nothing I suppose…

FannyCornforth Mon 06-Mar-23 12:14:27

It’s ridiculous isn’t it Silver 🙄
