Hello đź‘‹

Here is the new thread!
Thank you to regular and irregular posters all.

Especially those such as Silverling and Charleygirl who have provided so much advise and support. (There are lots of other lovely posters, but too many to list).

As well as advice, there is also much wisdom and kindness.

I will link to the first and second threads below.

Wherever you are on your replacement journey, you are most welcome to join us here smile

Morning all
Not sure where summer has gone, those few days of sun in June seems a long time ago now.

I broke my toes in a fall 3 weeks ago now , they still hurt. I had thought I was ok with my hip but have been having some discomfort, nothing too much but it feels a bit sore and can’t comfortably lay on that side , so woke early this morning wondering if I should seek further advice. I probably should but really can’t face hours waiting at the hospital.

No one is going to see this...

silverlining48 Tue 08-Aug-23 09:19:30

Unless I post 3 times ..

silverlining48 Tue 08-Aug-23 09:20:45

Or even 4 times.

silverlining I managed to trip over a couple of weeks ago too! I smashed my face against my daughter’s wooden fronted sofa , split my lip and ruined my self esteem! My knee the same side as my replacement hip was very bruised and sore as well as my ribs ! I eventually had to see my GP as the lip got infected despite salt washes .I was also worried about the hip but GP said that it was probably the strongest joint in my body now ! But maybe a good idea to get checked out . I ended up having an ECG in case it was a” cardiac event” a booster tetanus , a course of antibiotics. and doing a week of twice daily blood pressure readings for her ! Can’t complain as she was very thorough.
My back is still very painful so I’ve booked back into my lovely osteopath who kept me going when waiting for my hip replacement.

Hello Susie.
Coincidence we have both had falls. I think we had our ops on the same day April 2022?
I had a full body fall on the same side as my new hip onto rocks.
I mentioned my newish hip when I had the feet xrayed but hip wasn’t X-rayed.
I have phoned and left a message at the virtual fracture clinic (who would have thought a virtual fracture clinic could function) and await response.
Hope you get your back sorted out sooner rather than later and thank you for your response.
I am sure I am ok but I can’t lay on my left now which I could before. Patience required. We should be used to it shouldn’t we?
Best wishes flowers

I should say Trip not fall ..

annodomini Tue 08-Aug-23 10:40:30

I refuse to 'have a fall', or even trip over, but two weeks ago, I 'took a tumble', twisted my knee painfully, but my now 17 (or is it 18?)-year-old hip survived, as it has survived countless 'tumbles' over the years!

silverlining48 Tue 08-Aug-23 10:50:04

Took a tumble , I will remember that , no doubt there will be a next time ( balance is appalling).
Thanks, that’s 3 of us all tumbling in the last few weeks.

annodomini Tue 08-Aug-23 11:17:37

PS In the interests of accuracy, I should add that I am not using 'tumble' in the gymnastics sense.

Aveline Tue 08-Aug-23 11:18:58

It's OK annodomini I didn't think you had!

susytish Tue 08-Aug-23 12:08:19

I bought some Skechers slip in trainers. They are great! No need for long handled shoe horn. They are a good idea! Has anyone else bought them?

downtoearth Tue 08-Aug-23 21:38:11

Sorry to hear that several of you have gone base over apex,it is a worry with the new hips,I now watch where I plant my feet as very careless,I am sure several hefty tumbles, due to dogs and grandchildren, and maybe a drop of wine contributed to my hip eeding replacing.
Havent got slip on skechers susy but similar, and also the ones with elastic laces, cant think what they are called that are skechers
Hope you are all recovering from your tumbles.

downtoearth Tue 08-Aug-23 21:39:10

Just rememembered they are called bungee laces

I am venturing out today to make the most of our 2 days of summer.
Can’t walk far and will be extra careful of course.
Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

Well my right THR is 24 August. Had right TKR in February. Feeling the hip now! Did not bother me at first. Just want it done now and a return to some sort of life back!

silverlining48 Tue 15-Aug-23 12:31:21

Not long now Susy hips are more straightforward so you will be up and dancing a jig before you know it.
Well maybe not a jig, but somethings similar. Good luck

Grandsnet why are put posts never in the active thread?
Complaining had made no difference. It’s a poor show,
