The investigations you will have are designed to rule out cancer not confirm it. I was in your situation 3 years ago and yes it is worrying. All this is being done to protect you. My GP told me this. In the end a polyp was found.

I had exactly the same including the increased womb thickness and bleeding. Saw my GP who sent me for a smear test. Like you I was scared. A very sympathetic consultant did an examination under GA and found a polyps and removed it. Sent for testing and was benign. The NHS, when working, is wonderful.

Thanks for good wishes. I have had scan and have abnormal thickness of womb lining which is concerning. I’m booked for a hysteroscopy in NY. It’s possible also that I have a polyps and they also spotted a fibroid which is apparently harmless. I have to say I can’t fault the speed, care and kindness with which I have been treated by my GP and hospital in spite of all the problems in the NHS.

I was in the same position a few years ago. PMB always requires urgent referral. In my case it was due to age-related change only. I hope you will get reassurance too.

I'd also been using Ovestin for years when I had a post meno bleed.
Really scary so can understand how you feel. I had a biopsy and scan and was fitted with a Mirena coil which I had for five years (removed this August). They thought the bleed could have been a build up from the Ovestin. I was very cautious after this but when I saw the consultant for the coil removal he suggested I use Ovestin once or twice a week for three months, then stop for three months etc. Have followed his insructions. Hope all goes well for you. I had the same thoughts as you so completely understand.

I already use hrt cream for atrophy as I’ve had that problem for years and yes - I am getting on a bit. My GP says the bleeding is coming from higher up. It could still be other things but I can’t help being scared and fearing the worst. Thank you for the reassurance.

In my case the cause was polyps.

Firstly , I have no medical background whatsoever so all I can tell you is from my own experience.
Of course you are terrified, be ridiculous if you were not, I was in your position 11 years ago, even in the worst scenario as you suspect you will recover, I am proof of that !

I’ve been referred twice in the last 10 years. Didn’t find the exam painful and I have vag atrophy and connective tissue disorders, so very dry, so pain expected. The dr and nurses were excellent. The hormone cream I’d been prescribed was stopped after the first bleed. Your post makes me think I’ll ask again saltnshake

I was referred because of post menopausal bleeding. They always suspect cancer. They might want to do an internal check at the clinic, it's painful. Ask for it to be done under a general anaesthetic. I've had this twice so I do know from experience. No cancer was found. If you are getting on a bit like me you might just have atrophy, dryness and shrinkage which can cause bleeding. A locally applied hormone cream is all that was required. I hope that this is the answer in your case. Good luck I know how worrying this can be.

Yes, I had this and there are so many other things it could be .In my case it was polyps. The 2 week pathway is recommended for any vaginal bleeding and not because cancer is suspected. It is just needed to rule it out.

Yes. A few years ago. It turned out to be vaginal atrophy.
