If I get those pains I stick to the BRAT foods (recommended for kids with upset stomachs - so easily remembered) for a day or two - along with my cups of tea, of course:
Bananas
Rice
Apples (cooked)
Toast (no butter)

(Mashed banana on toast or cooked rice with apple are low fat and easily digested.)

I've heard that there's a lot of Noro Vvirus (AKA Winter Vomiting Virus) around at the moment. I've had it at least twice in the past and the only way to get rid of it is rest, keep well hydrated and stay put.

Also an early covid symptom, sorry.

All the common cold / respiratory viruses that go around this time of year can cause diarrhoea & abdominal pain as well as the usual blocked nose & coughing. Flu can too. Viruses "go right through you" so they can have effects on different systems - usually mild. I reckon that's what "cold in your stomach" (my mum talked about them too) probably means.

Gastric flu? No idea what that is but it was talked about when I was young

Actually I was asking if ?can you get a cold in the stomach or back/kidneys as, once I was in bed did notice my torso was cold but not my feet or hands...perhaps I'm peculiar but thank you for responding...I do suffer with diverticulitus on and off but felt it was not this as had cold sensation in stomach...must be the freezing weather...

Could be a lot of things but if it's new, probably some kind of infection- viral or bacterial. Plenty of liquids and rest should help. Don't eat unless you feel very hungry and then something simple like toast.

Bile acid malabsorbtion.
Google explains it better than I can. Basically your intestines aren't reabsorbing the bile left after your meal has digested, and its burning your guts! But I'm no medic.
Please look it up, you can get medication for it and easily get on with your life.
There are groups of people on Facebook if you use it.

Irritable bowel, I think - I get it when I eat certain foods. If it persists, see your GP

Hi, am having abdominal spasms and rushing to loo as bowels are churning.. my Mother would say you’ve a cold in your stomach.. realise as getting older these sayings come to mind .. how’s can you actually get a cold in stomach? It’s quite acute at minute so have taken pain relief and got into bed with E blanket on to warm and calm body.. I don’t feel nauseous or hot but definitely it’s n stomach/abdo area
