I’m on day six of my first 2 week cycle of chemotherapy for secondary appendix cancer and experiencing extreme fatigue to the stage where I can hardly get out of bed let alone walk around. This is the third day of this and although I had chemo before I don’t remember it being quite as bad. I haven’t got a temperature and that’s all they’re concerned about really although I did have a chat to one of the chemo nurses this morning and he felt there was nothing to worry about. I’m really hoping that I’ll pick up again soon. Anyone else been floored by chemo? There isn’t a specific one for appendix cancer and I believe they use the chemo drug for colorectal cancer.

Can you stomach the liquid food/milkshake type drinks that are packed with vitamins etc?
If you feel too awful to eat I wonder if they may help?
💐 to all of you.

I had chemo a long time ago for Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and I was floored by how tired I felt. It wasn't a tiredness where I wanted to sleep just a bone weary tiredness. I decided to just let my body tell me what it wanted and if I lay on the sofa all day so be it. Listen to your body and make yourself as comfortable as you can. It will pass.

You sound as though you’re really going through the mill, Sunnysideup, you poor thing. flowers No advice, just hoping you can find something which works for you and helps you feel brighter.

Do you have someone to look after you? Xx

Thank you all again. Yes, I have got some vitamin packed drinks but find them a bit unpalatable (no pleasing me is there!) I’ve managed two desert spoonfuls of soup with a slice of chicken for lunch.
My lovely husband is looking after me. He fortunately is a bit younger than me and in rude health. You’reright in that I’m now 73 and previously I was 66. Very slight improvement this afternoon in that the sickness has abated.

I’m with you on the special drinks Sunnysideup I found them horribly greasy and unpalatable. Real food even in small quantities much nicer. So pleased you’ve got a supportive DH. 💐

Update. Unfortunately I’ve ended up in hospital after six days of feeling really ill and a lot of vomiting. I’ve been treated very well and was seen in super quick time and fast tracked into a side room on a ward in record time with IV fluids and anti sickness medication. I won’t be well enough to have my next chemo and a new regime will have to be worked out.

My friend found it was better when she didn’t try to fight the exhaustion. She rested and slept and then usually felt well enough to socialise etc before the next round began.

Sorry you are having such a tough time!
