Goitre getting much bigger

Think that could be old wives tale ExDancer as I eat salmon twice a week and also partial to a tuna sandwich in between

Is it an old wife's tale that they usually occur in people who don't eat fish? I seem to remember a little boy in my class at primary school who had to eat, fish which he hated, twice a week because he had a goitre?

My nan had a goitre removed, her swallowing and voice improved a lot after that. Good luck to you with this prob.😃

I know where you’re coming from HeavenLeigh - I have come on here many times, I’m sure, with concerns about symptoms, usually regarding children/grandchildren. I think we look for re-assurance, rather than a diagnosis.

I know that if you read my post fleur you will see I said I will be ringing the dr next week which is four days time, I am allowed to ask if any one else has experienced this, I’m not asking for remedies!

I had follicular cancer when I was 35, I had a goitre that appeared out of nowhere and grew fairly rapidly in just a few weeks.
I had the goitre and half my thyroid removed.
I had some radio therapy treatment shortly after surgery.
The operation was fine and thus far have not needed thyroxine, it’s thought it must have been on the overactive side.
Please get it checked ASAP.

Like pascal30, I had a goitre removed some years ago. My thyroid was overactive and I was on medication for that. It enlarged gradually over some years and I started feeling choked sometimes. When I finally saw a surgeon he recommended removal, saying the goitre was in danger of suffocating me!

I've had no problems since the surgery and felt swallowing and breathing so much easier. No cancer ɓut lots of nodules apparently.

I had a goitre and I had it removed. It was a very straightforward operation and I recovered completely after about 2 weeks. I have a single scar which is hardly noticeable. I take 100 micrograms of thyroxine now. Mine was not cancerous but apparently Thyroid cancers are one of the easiest to treat.. pm me if you want any more info..

Have it checked once a year not one
