As a royalist but also a princess Diana fan, I'm struggling, I can't stand to see camilla crowned queen, I don't want to watch, it's making me less of a royalist, I wish he'd just pass it on to William and Kate

When Charles married Camilla it was announced that when Charles became king, Camilla would be known as the Princess Consort. The late Queen said last year, that she wanted Camilla to be styled, Queen Consort.

Do we know how Charles treated Diana or do we believe what
Diana said about how he treated her ?

Loved Diana !

We know quite a bit about how Diana treated Charles. She tormented him about his quiet thoughfulness, threw things at him and screamed at him that he wasn't a proper man, that he wasn't fit to be king, and that she'd make sure that he never was and that her boys got there in front of him.

This was Diana - affair with Barry Manakee married with children, he was killed in a road accident.

Diana, in her book, criticised where his ashes had been scattered, no thought for his wife , such cruelty.

I wasn't such a big fan of Diana but I totally understand how people dislike how Charles treated her. I do quite like Camilla and she really hasn't made waves whilst married to Charles, I just feel sorry for her having to put up with his petulent, child-like behaviour, even at 74. I'm just hoping people who loved Diana, don't do the pledge simply because they want to be part of the 'ceremony'. It would seem a bit hypocritical.

Has it crossed your mind that Charles might be on the autistic spectrum? As an autie myself I recognise a lot of the signs in what we have heard about his early years. It would have gone unrecognised then of course, as the condition wasn't fully understood. It's also consistent with his reluctance to engage in conflict, and with his irritability with things in the wrong place for him, particularly in somebody who is by all accounts an easy-going sort of person most of the time.

My autism wasn't understood as a child either. I was dismissed as 'clumsy' and 'in a permanent dream' as well as being prone to periodic meltdowns. I suspected for a long time that I was on the spectrum and it was well worth the fight to get a formal diagnosis however late in life. A lot of things in my past make a lot more sense now, and it had put my mind at rest about many things that bugged me.

There's nothing wrong with being autistic by the way. It's not an illness, it's just another way of thinking and seeing the world.

There are some absolute saints amongst the posters aren’t there?

Magrithea Tue 02-May-23 16:44:41

Diana has been canonised by popular opinion but was no saint herself and knew how to play to the press. Camilla obviously makes Charles happy and that should be the main thing. She's married to the King so will be Queen, end of!

Yes adultery hurts, how many were hurt by Diana’s affairs with
married men

mrsgreenfingers56 Tue 02-May-23 16:37:21

Yes, Charles should have married Camilla. But to me she is still the other woman and Charles as head of the Church of England broke his marriage vows. Admit Camilla far better suited to him than Diana but adultery hurts very deeply. No, I won't watch it and the Camilla word does not bode well with me at all.

Anniebach Tue 02-May-23 16:36:13

Her mother bought her the London flat. She gave advice not to
get involved with Fayed.

Mallin Tue 02-May-23 16:25:13

I couldn’t imagine sorting the world out with a bottle of whisky and Diana. But I certainly could with Camilla.
Diana was a very attractive lass but even her most avid fans must admit that her turnover of sexual partners would have greatly embarrassed her sons if she had lived. Shame her mother wasn’t available to give advice.

Visgir1 Tue 02-May-23 16:09:45

Andrew Parker - Bowles is going to the Coronation, he was also a Page at QE coronation.

Utter nonsense that the Crown should have passed to William not Charles.

The late Queen Mother certainly was not the suitable pick for Queen consort by her In laws, she was the 'Spares " choice.
She did okay, so will Queen Camilla.

I think your confused as to what is emotional Intelligence
You’re asking us to show some to the OP, when in fact, you mean, show some sympathy.
The OP stated i’m struggling You have zero emotional intelligence if, as an adult woman you are struggling over an event that had zilch impact on your life.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 02-May-23 16:06:18

That’s disgusting Vintagenonna. I’ve reported your post.

I just don’t think it is History with an H. A new monarch is not going to impact people’s lives the way they did 150 years ago. It’s bread and circuses except we can’t even afford bread.

It’s emotional intelligence GSM. 🙄

Bijou

I am not a royalist. The Queen Mother was the first British person to enter the royal family since George III. Prince Philip was Greek/ German I believe.

Are you serious? Can you really compare Camilla’s deportment, mid 70s, with that of Diana? Is yours that of a young woman?

koalama is 'struggling' because she has mixed/conflicting emotions. Let's show a little emotional intelligence - hey? My feeling is the monarchy are a powerful symbol in the British unconscious and things will not change for the better if they go. Don't like Camilla - my son has worked close to her and says there's little 'noblesse oblige' (but then he isn't a rabbit)! I do not think she has the deportment to make an inspiring queen and figurehead. Diana did, but they were unsuited of course. I think the crown(s) should have passed straight to Wills and Kate. If you don't like it Koalama, feast your eyes on the wardrobe malfunctions and have a glass of bubbly!
