Bunion surgery

One foot sorted traditionally in an NHS hospital about 16years ago. I had very little post op pain much to the surprise of the nurse changing dressings. Clomped about in an unflattering black sandal for six weeks until the post op checkup when I was told no more need and joys, I could drive. The foot is still pretty straight and more importantly pain free. Can’t say the same for the other foot sadly. A friend who had a different surgeon in a different location was told she could abandon the sandal after two weeks, her foot has never been right.

Had mine done about a year apart,NHS. Mine have not returned. The most painful part was the nerve block, I didn't want a general anaesthetic.

I got mine done privately 9 years ago. One foot. The bunion returned just a few years later and currently gives me pain every day, especially at night. I was warned it may return…

I have had both mine done but also some reconstructive work re broken and crumbling bones in my toes and feet. I didn't have a choice as so much to be done and a GA needed for one. I would just say get them done and you'll be more comfortable and be able to stay mobile and active.

I had mine done. About three months apart. I had surgery, I suppose that’s the traditional op. Recovery took time but it wasn’t painful.

I had both joints done at the same time 14 years ago privately. Hereditary on both sides of family and I remember my Gran and her sisters with very deformed toes, so for that reason. Both joints have reverted but don’t cause me pain but have choose shoes carefully. I had to wear wooden sandals for 6 weeks afterwards, elevate as much as possible and, of course, couldn’t drive. Keyhole surgery was not an option then. A chiropodist friend told me many years ago not to have them touched unless you were in pain. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I can answer your question as such but I had mine sorted in my mid 20's but then about 10 years ago I have to have another op on the same foot as the original one was causing me problems.
So had to have my Right foot realigned the way it was done originally caused issues with my toes, my big toe wasn't long enough, it also I was told had caused a "Mortons Neuroma". Once fixed I was told all would be good.
Anyway it worked a treat I Glad it's done, it's painfull but worth it.
If it was me.. Keyhole everytime.
