supportive shoes after ankle fracture

I broke my ankle (trimalleolar) eight weeks ago and it is now sufficiently healed for me to go into ordinary foot wear again. The clinic has suggested getting a pair of high ankle hiking boots. Has any body been in a similar situation and can offer advice? Obviously this would not be my first choice of footwear for this time of year.

I also have very narrow feet. Thanks in advance.

After my trimalleolar fracture I wore my usual footwear. Trainers mostly.

I was advised by a podiatrist to wear ankle boots with my newly made orthotics. The podiatrist liked my old boots - made by Joya with Senso soles. I have had them for at least 5 years so well worth the price - £160 then.

After a similar trauma to what you've experienced my foot has not healed after 18 months and is still swollen but I've finally found a solution to footwear with suede desert boots. I'd recommend a shoe horn to help ease any shoes on after an ankle fracture.

My chiropodist says I have unstable ankles and highly approves of my Barbour laced up leather boots which have a supportive cuff around the top.
A bit of a nightmare to get on and off in a hurry, but from late September onwards, I’m almost welded in them! Non-slip too.
I should probably get another pair soon, as it takes a while to wear them in and the current pair have seen better days.
