I wore them for over 50 years but haven't needed them since I had cataract surgery. My optician recommended dailies as they are more hygienic and there is less chance of infection. Also cleaning solution is not necessary with dailies so a bit of money is saved.

I pay £27 a month delivered for 2 weekly lenses with astigmatism. Includes check ups and solution.

I'm an oddball. I wear one reader contact in my non-dominant eye. There is a difference in brands, so if you find one the optometrist recommends is difficult to put in or take out, or floats around on your eye, then ask to try something else. Usually they give you a sample set and then ask you to come back for a follow up appointment to review.

Thanks BlueBelle, were your contacts to correct distance and reading? Ive booked my eye test and a contact lens trial.

I wore soft contacts for 40 years ( started with hard and didn’t get on with them ) very short sighted -12 and astigmatism paid £12 a month ( including check ups ) up to this year when I had both cataracts done and no longer need them 😊

You don't need to sign up to the opticians scheme. Once you have your prescription take a look at online lenses. I have used Feel Good Contacts in the past and would recommend. Just remember to factor in paying for check ups.

I wear monthly multifocals for astigmatism which cost £47 a month without solution ( which I buy cheaply from eBay) They don't make dailies in my prescription which would be more expensive.
Remember the price includes free checkups and usually a discount on glasses.

I pay £60 a month and that includes check-ups every six months and 20% off spectacles and accessories. I have daily lenses - one long sight and one short sight.

I have worn contact lenses since I was in my 20s. I'm 73 now. First I wore hard now I wear gas permeable lenses. I love them. Mine are considered old fashioned but I tried the soft daily or weekly ones and couldn't get on with them. I pay £13.50 a month. There is another thread on GN somewhere which may be of help to you

I have been researching this and considering a trial when I have my next eye test, but I cant make head or tail of the likely cost implications. I would need the multifocal ones, daily and thought they may be around £18 per month. Just checked with M&S and cost would be between £55 and £85 per month. Any info or advice would be gratefully received, thank you.
