I've got Covid

My adult son has never had a single injection and only caught covid from us last summer when we returned from Corfu with it. After a couple of days I suggested he did a test even though he said he felt fine and he was positive but not poorly at all.

Hopefully one day they may be able to answer this question. I have had Covid twice but only through testing did I know I had it. I felt perfectly fine perhaps a little tired the second time but still able to function as normal.
And why some may never catch it.

We had covid a few weeks ago. Stupidly tested. DD2 is a nurse and her charge nurse was furious she had tested for it. Said she couldn't go home so was given stuff to do the the CN phoned for advice and she was eventually sent home on the bus with the same rules as before. They are not being given testing kits now. So it seems you get into trouble when testing so people won't bother.

I was reading an article about the immune response to Covid attacking T cells, so you're probably right that Covid wears down the immune system.

That is kind, yes I am, but very very wary of crowded spaces, wear a mask as appropriate and I prefer being outdoors with lots of people and am first in the queue for jab.

What I do think is that covid wears down your immune system, so I would advise anyone who is recovering from covid to be very careful around people for weeks after.

It is a nasty illness and I don’t think that the doctors understand long covid yet, nor fully its effect on major organs.

All sorts my husband and I escaped it up until middle of June , 1 day before we were due to fly on holiday , phoned the Covid line to be told oh just go on holiday it’s just like flu now! We wouldn’t have gone even if we could have we were both so ill . People who say it’s just a cold don’t know what they are talking about . My husband still has the cough

I’m not sure how on earth anyone goes anywhere with flu either. Proper flu completely floors you as does covid.

I had covid last summer and was very poorly indeed for 3 weeks including paramedics attending because of low oxygen levels etc. and a couple of weeks recovery after which I venture out and immediately caught flu. I was so ill - no doubt partly as I hadn’t completely recovered from covid. Amongst other things like a chest infection for which I needed anti-biotics and a burst eardrum, as well as sickness and diarrhoea I ended up in A&E with a severely impacted bowel - so don’t tell me that covid and flu are just like a cold! It took me until Christmas to regain my stamina.

Primrose 53. It’s now a year since his last vaccination. I don’t think that can be blamed for a DVT this year. I think it’s prob the Covid . However I’m happy to just disagree. We can’t all think the same. I personally am grateful for vaccine. Public health is a wonderful thing and I feel lucky to live in a county that advocates it

have found that Covid itself (not the vaccine) can cause DVT six months after infection.

I caught covid on last day of holiday for 1st time in May. For me it was a slightly sore throat for 2 days, temperature for 1 day, then very bad cold for a week. OH caught it from me and had brain fog, temperature for a week, headaches and bad cold so much worse than me even though I have a pre-existing lung condition. He's had 4 vaccines and I've only had 3.
I'm seriously wondering if these 'vaccines' do any good at all. Plenty of vaccinated people have been hospitalised with Covid as have unvaccinated.
It's also been proven that masks, unless sealed respirator masks, do not protect against viruses at all as the particles are small enough to pass through both ways. But they keep advising more vaccines and some are convinced disposable masks still protect you. So the companies keep selling them.

Well said sazzl. What I’d also like to add is, remember pre-covid when the Hospitals were over whelmed with Flu patients. Was always on the news and hundreds of people died. But we didn’t all hide at home terrified we’re all going to die.

We didn't all hide at home terrified of dying during the Covid pandemic either.

I agree, we don’t need to live in fear unless you have an underlying condition or are very elderly, in which case you take the same precautions you would have previously for people with colds/flu. We don’t test for colds or flu and yet flu proper flu can be horrendous. If you’re ill, be it norovirus/flu/cold or anything, you stay away from people - that’s how I was always brought up. I don’t have any Covid tests and we are not required to test anymore. Masks do nothing, the studies have shown that, unless you have a tested fit FFP3 mask! We were locked up enough Amd lost a couple of years, we don’t want to go down that route again!

Studies have shown that masks do reduce transmission. I wore FFP2 masks throughout the pandemic.

But now, when the Government tells you that Covid is downgraded, you can go to work, don't have to isolate, don't have to let anyone know, it's virtually all gone away, you DON'T believe them, or follow their advice. I just don't understand this outpouring of continued fear.

Pre Covid, you wouldn't announce you had a cold, it's the same damn thing! Cold/gastric virus.

Covid is not the same thing as a cold and it will never be, however many times it mutates. A cold enters the body via the respiratory tract, where it usually triggers an immune response (phlegm, a cough) and is killed.

Covid enters the body via Ace-2 receptors, which are present on many different organs. It's the immune response by the different organs which causes damage and can leave people with long-term after effects.

I think we need to remember that Covid is still there. It has not gone away. What’s happened is that due to mass vaccination it is no longer going to kill off civilisation as we know it . This is why it is no longer a threat to the government. I had it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was really unwell. I am grateful that I have had several immunisations and hopefully will have another this winter. My husband also had it. He is 70 but very fit. Runs every day takes the dog out long walks and has no underlying health problems. He was only slightly u well with cold symptoms for four days. Two weeks later he developed a DVT in his leg. He’s had lots of investigations and the outcome is it was just an unlucky post Covid thing.

So what I am saying is Covid is out there , it’s not going away , it’s not killing many of us now thanks to immunisation but can still make us quite unwell.

Weren’t we warned that the vaccination could cause DVTs? My friend’s husband flew out to the US last summer not long after his jab and got a DVT on arrival and was very poorly for the 2 weeks he was there.

My BIL also got one after his covid jab when he was on a sailing trip to Holland.

I remember on my very first jab the nurse read out any potential side effects and asked me if I was still sure I wanted it. They were less forthcoming after the first one.

There are currently hot spots (the South West and the North West), where there have been thousands of cases over the last few weeks. Some of them have been hospitalised - I doubt if they had it mildly.

The young woman in the supermarket is obviously a sensible person.
