I have just read the above link calling for women to be able to give themselves a smear test at home, instead of the GP. Surgery as it I quote " can be very traumatic "
I don't see how these tests would be possible as I understand it the test involves getting cells from the head of the cervix , so how would you know if you had been successful as you can't see what you would be doing. I think it is more complicated than inserting a tampon.

I think I would be worried about false”all clear” results due to inadequate sampling.

Hopefully there’ll be trials first to see how accurate self sampling is.

I’m concerned that media pressure might lead to a fast untrialled roll out.

Whilst doing my last smear the nurse spotted a polyp which needed further investigation. I don't think a DIY job would have flagged that up
