Why are we angry?

Is it just me that is finding that everyone is angry at the moment? Including myself I have to add shamefully. There are probably lots of reasons but I feel there has been a big shift since lockdown opened up. Wondered what your thoughts are?

I’m getting the impression that some people are racist towards the French. Can somebody explain why you believe it’s acceptable to you for France to absorb all the refugees who want to live in the UK?

Racist gets chucked about too much.Actually you can’t be racist towards the French, we are the same race.
The word you are looking for is xenophobic.
Tho IMHO it isn’t even that, it’s the fact that French authorities don’t make much effort to stop the boats and don’t always rescue the small boats in trouble but turn a blind eye.

I agree. Getting angry about things over which you have no control is a waste of energy and life. Save your energy for things you can change.

with an election looming?

Yes, we can change a lot of things.

It isn’t looming It may not happen until October the following year.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 20-Aug-23 14:15:04

What can you change Fleurpepper, other than with your vote at an election (which certainly isn’t looming)?

Comical police checks
How true. We could ( if we were inclined) stow 8 people in our motohome with no difficulty.
I can’t count the times they haven't looked in the bathroom, under the Banquette, in the large boot.

Which is why it is important to prepare NOW.

Oreo Sun 20-Aug-23 14:37:33

Prepare what?

Fleurpepper Sun 20-Aug-23 14:43:10

For the election campaign, I would have thought that would be obvious.

Anyone can join in this- and it would be well worth the energy and effort, and even make one feel better and happier. BTW, it is very possible to become involved and join the fight, AND remain a very happy, positive, funny, caring, and more - person. And feeling that one is actually doing something about what makes one angry, sad and pessimistic- can truly help with the above.

Putting head in sand rarely achieves much.

Neil Kinnock and Paddy Splashdown said much the same thing: that all ended in tears.

It’s far too early for leafletting and door stepping. There’s nothing to do at the moment Fleurpepper.
What are you planning to do yourself right this minute?

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 20-Aug-23 14:51:14

Quite.

I don’t have the slightest desire to join an election campaign. Better things to do with my time. I will vote when the time comes.

Fleurpepper Sun 20-Aug-23 14:56:31

Your choice.

blimey- can't imagine you have ever planned an election campaign. It does NOT being with leafletting and door stepping!

Fleurpepper Sun 20-Aug-23 15:01:32

begin with

Oreo Sun 20-Aug-23 16:45:09

Strangely enough I never have planned an election campaign
😂

Are you going to say what you’ll be doing this week to help the cause?

Fleurpepper Sun 20-Aug-23 18:49:06

It is very possible to help with planning the campaign by joining a Party, and give them financial and practical support.

I know a lot of people who are very angry about the daily influx of hundreds of people on rubber dinghies. They are angry because people already living here are waiting for social housing, dental care, operations, school places etc. They find the daily news reports depressing as nobody seems to be sorting this out.

I know this will offend some people on here but it is true. It is the most talked about topic we hear from all our customers. Some say “don’t even start me on this. I am sick of it.”

I totally agree Primrose53 .
But I really need to withdraw from Twitter etc as the daily supply of disturbing negativity on absolutely every subject is enough to fuel everyone’s acute anger!
But the one that disturbs me the most is a growing open hostility from many young people towards many older people. Just because they are older and often frailer they are often made to feel like ‘users and abusers’ of the system!

I have neither the time or the money to support political parties, but if you have, then go for it.

Thanks. I can assure you that membership for most parties, is NOT expensive- and this especially if you are retired.

I do know many feel really stretched due to cost of living crisis, etc, but really

'You can join for as little as £15 a year (or £6 if you are in receipt of state benefits). How much you pay is up to you, the average is £50'.

Serendipity22 Mon 21-Aug-23 13:25:30

Im not angry and the people i know are not angry. Strangers i meet are pleasant, chirpy and chatty. 😃

Yes everyone's talking about it, but can you not see that this is a crisis of the govt's own making? It is deliberate, in the hope that people will vote for them come the election ..., this could've been sorted YEARS ago, but it suits them not to, to stir people up, which is exactly what it is doing!

Yes, people are having issues with healthcare, dentists, social housing etc, but again, they've been in govt for 13 years, and they are all deliberate crises again, defunding the NHS in order to sell it off, NIMBYISM with social housing etc which ties in with the "Where has all the money gone?" thread ... to their mates, their families, expenses and corruption!, amongst other things!

Fleurpepper Mon 21-Aug-23 13:57:48

Yes, thank you MadeInYorkshire- orchestrated and very very deliberate, to hide their massive failings behind.

choughdancer Mon 21-Aug-23 15:41:25

Well said MadeInYorkshire. Preying on vulnerable people to bolster their approval ratings.

Same here😃
The odd person here and there has a moan but really most I meet are just glad not to be going around masked.Seeing our family and friends and living normally again is what counts.
