Norovirus

My mum had it over Christmas last year - wiped her out completely for a good month and then a steady recovery.

She made sure she had plenty of rest. I enriched any food/drink to make sure she got maximum nutrition from a very small intake - her appetite was completely gone. I just focussed on things she likes -

So - full fat milk to make custard and 'cuppa soups' enriched with Complan
Butter rather than her usual spreading margarine
Squash to drink enriched with a liquid multi-vit. (I used metatone which has iron too) I also put multi-vit in blackcurrant jelly.
Squash made with dioralyte to keep the potassium/salt levels up.

Any food was 'fairy' portions, so three pieces of scampi with a shredded lettuce leaf, lemon zest and mayonnaise
Half a slice of bread cut into tiny sandwiches
Peeled and thinly sliced apples and pears

Presentation to appeal to the eye as much as possible.

It all took a while but we got there in the end, and she is pretty much back to full strength now. However her tastes have changed quite radically so if it ever happens again I shall have to think quite creatively!

I hope you feel better soon. Take it as gently and slowly as you can.

I had it about six years ago it’s horrible keep cosy and warm drink soups and broths to get your strength back. Take it easy and look after yourself.

Your gut has taken a bashing. You need a good probiotic or any other system to get your gut flora back to normal.

Ive had it twice, some years ago now. From memory it took about six weeks before I felt totally better. It’s a nasty virus nana, I’d suggest lots of rest, drink plenty, pace activity, eat little and often if your appetite has disappeared. Multivitamins can’t hurt. If you’re not back to acceptable energy after six weeks it would be wise to consult a doctor, there could be a cause which is not virus related. Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear this Nana I haven’t had it or heard of anyone around here having it but I didn’t want to pass by without saying I hope you feel better very soon

I've recently had norovirus, 3 weeks ago,. I'm now better but I feel exhausted. Anyone else felt like this ? I did loose 10lbs whilst ill and I'm now taking multivitamins to try and boost my energy.
