Have you experienced good results using crystals for health.

DaisyL You are right. DD quotes the statistic about the placebo effect ad nauseum.

A case of mind over matter.

A placebo works 30% of the time so if you believe you might as well try it. Wouldn't work for me as I think it is all rubbish - but that is my opinion - whatever works for anyone they should try it.

No , never .

Yes, good advice there. I remember when I was in Girl Guides starting fires with magnifying glasses, same sort of thing.

Thanks Callistenom. I thought I had read that somewhere. Something to be careful about.

Am I right in thinking that if you place crystals on a sunny window sill they can cause fires by the sun glinting off them if there is combustible materials nearby?

I don't leave glass objects on a windowsill for that reason, particularly paperweights.
They can concentrate the sun's rays on to another object eg curtain, cushion, and cause it to smoulder and catch fire.

I thought it was about jewellery making, which as many of you know is a pastime of mine.

Do you think that if I had worn my amethyst earrings more often, I might not now be wearing hearing aids?

I've always loved amethyst jewellery but haven't got any at all.

Perhaps I should treat myself, although I'd have to change most of my clothes as they'd clash 🙂

My word. who would have thought that such a innocuous question would have raised such discord!
Dismissive responses worthy of closed minds methinks. Ten out of ten to that person who uses crystals around her computer. Computer vibes, for some people, are a health hazard and not enough research has been conducted about the long term effects of LED lighting or wi-fi.
So many people prepared to dismiss a natural healing system without evidence.
Obviously I do not advocate treating serious illness solely using crystals. But I bet they help alongside allopathic medicine.

I don’t think there is much discord at all, most people are saying they don’t think they do much good but they can’t do any harm. I agree with this as long as people don’t use them as an alternative to seeing their doctor (if they can get an appointment!). I love Glastonbury and think it has a great atmosphere but it doesn’t make me believe in the healing power of crystals. Have them if you like them, I do, but I wouldn’t rely on them.

Sitting quietly holding a stone or anything which appeals to you helps to relax you, which could reduce stress and blood pressure. Emptying your mind could be a good thing but not always, it could introduce more negative thoughts.
Quartz is used in watches as a charge can be applied ( with a battery) which has a measurable vibration rate making quartz clocks accurate.
Don’t put salt crystal lamps etc in your bathroom as salt deliqueses .
I am able to use a single point crystal or even a Y shaped hazel twig to find the direction of underground water-. Dowsing.

What you pour into your Waterford Crystal would probably give temporary relief ixion. 🍷

I really like the colour and texture of ivory and corals - but I would never ever buy any.

Sorry, that was in reply to FleurP's post about coral and ivory.

Callistemon21 Thu 07-Sept-23 16:09:00

Animal, vegetable or mineral?

Coral reefs are living and support many different species of marine life.

Ivory is mineral but is from living animals and the sale of new ivory is banned in the UK.

I have a (distant) relative who really believes - despite seeming intelligent and logical. It's quite a puzzle.

I think any success is simply due to her firm belief that crystals 'work'. It's amazing how the state of mind can influence bodily health.

Would my Waterford Crystal be an effective substitute?🤞

😁

Best to dig up and polish your own ixion
