For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

Sweetpeasue Sat 09-Dec-23 21:31:06

Doodle It's hard to keep with 1 GP when no pre-booking is allowed isn't it? The early start-8am is difficult when not well but it's like a race isn't it-on your marks...
Hope your DH builds his strength up gradually. He's been through such an awful lot in the last few yrs alone.Dont forget to look after yourself.
HVDY Glad your DHs cough seems a little better. Your son will appreciate his Dad's DIY I'm sure.My DH on Sertraline but I'm thinking he may need it raising , not sure. He will be trying for appt Mon. His BP is raised, could be the steroids, and he's taking readings for a week.
Son loves cooking. It was shin beef (on the bone) cooked slowly, turkey crown with stuffing, pigs in blankets.sprouts in creamy sauce with bacon , whole carrots, cabbage, swede, roasties, mash, cauliflower cheese &broccoli
Plus deep breath
then he'd done a homemade jam roly-poly and custard. Eeek!
EllieAnne Hoping you're OK and you've had no more health problems. Hoping your weekend is not too bad.

Wishing all a peaceful night . X

Wyllow3 Sun 10-Dec-23 00:04:16

Night night, BD's xxxxxx

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 10-Dec-23 11:37:57

SweetpeaSue Your husband's BP is most likely raised since being on steroids (it's one of the side effects, as is raised blood sugar). Ooh, what a gorgeous dinner and pudding. Your son is a very good cook! Did you teach him?

EllieAnne Hope you're able to get out - I know you don't like weekends.

Doodle Best of luck in getting through to the doctor and booking an appointment. We can usually get through to ours (after being in a telephone queue) but appointments are 2 weeks in advance.

nadateturbe Sun 10-Dec-23 12:03:55

Hello everyone. Forced myself to shower thinking could I cope with an hour or two at DDs. But younger grandson was vomiting during night and just now again. If its a stomach bug I couldn't cope well if I got it. On top of this constant pain.
I feel I shouldn't go. Home tomorrow morning.

Sweetpeasue Sun 10-Dec-23 16:43:02

HVDY Yes it's the steroids. Catch 22.
Apart from him watching me at home he's really self taught as I have tended towards the simple traditional cooking. He just loves to experiment and I think it's become a main hobby. He loves to cook for people.
Nadateturbe Oh I hope your pain has settled by now. You've been so unlucky and you must feel so depressed about it all. It's so unfair when you've done your best to make the journey . I hope it hasn't knocked your confidence too much in what you can and can't do. Your illness is so unpredictable . I'm sure your DD will understand. I expect you will just want to get back home to your comfortable surroundings. Sending a huge hug.

Hoping everyone has managed OK this weekend and special thoughts to all who have struggled. x

Sweetpeasue Sun 10-Dec-23 16:44:17

HVDY Sorry , clumsy wording -obviously talking about son cooking.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 10-Dec-23 17:08:55

Nadateturbe Oh, you poor thing. It's such bad luck. I hope you might feel well enough to perhaps see your daughter and her children before you go home. If not, I'm sure they'll understand. I expect you'll be pleased to get back to your own place.

SweetpeaSue My sons enjoy cooking, but they've picked most of it up as they've gone along. I hope you and your husband are ok today.

How's everyone been?

It's been boring here - DH got up at 9.45, sat about for ages, then after a snack at lunch, said he was "going to lie down on the bed for a rest". That was at 12.45. He's still there. Ah well, I've done a few chores and made a lasagne (eaten mine). Hope ALL BDers have a cosy evening x

Doodle Sun 10-Dec-23 18:46:57

HVDY good that your DH is doing a bit more now and helping out your son. Your DH sounds a real handy man.
I think the GP is phoning me tomorrow.. She did say last week she’d phone me again. I think she was hoping to have the tests results by tomorrow where the reality is I don’t have an appointment for the Ct until 19th.
My DH has been asleep most of today too. I wonder if the cold weather has a lot to do with it.
Sweetpeasue good idea to chat to GP if your DHs BP is going up.
Wow your son certainly mad a delicious meal. How lovely. Jam roly-poly too . Yummy.
Nadateturbe what a shame your trip has been spoilt, your poor grandson too. So sorry for you all. When you feel poorly there’s no place like home though.
Son and wife both have Covid! He was going to take his dad to hospital checkup Thursday. I will have to try and re arrange.
Wyllow hope you’re keeping safe and warm. X
Ellie Anne any activities in church this weekend? There was in mine, drinks with mulled wine and mince pies but I didn’t go coz of DH.

Ellie Anne Sun 10-Dec-23 19:05:30

No doodle just the usual service.
Finding everything so sad just now. Had my choir concert last night. Enjoyed it but it brought home to me how alone I am. Other people had friends and family supporting them and I had no one.
Oldest gd has had a terrible Week at school with bullying. Was physically attacked and mum took her to hospital for check. She’s ok but told a teacher she wanted to kill her self so urgently referred to mental health iservices but who knows how long That will take.
So depressed thinking about Christmas.
Can’t face putting up a tree.
I don’t feel like eating. Have had a caramel wafer today.
Dd hasn’t contacted so we are still not ok.
I wish it was bedtime so I could sleep and forget about everything.

Doodle Sun 10-Dec-23 20:13:48

Oh Ellie Anne my heart goes out to you. I know what it’s like to be so worried about your DGC and being miserable.
That poor girl, I hope the school do something to put a stop to it. Are her mum and dad supportive? They should keep pushing the school to be more responsive.
I know it’s been discussed before but have you considered anti depressants? You are very down and I can understand why. Life doesn’t seem to hold much joy for you at the moment.
I’m sending you a big hug. It may not be much but we do care. Wish it was a real one. X

nadateturbe Sun 10-Dec-23 20:30:11

Sweetpeasue Scaredycat Candy Doodle HVDY thank you all for your caring understanding comments. Didn't see them today. All that way for one afternoon. But it was a good one. We sang happy birthday as the boys carried in the huge chocolate cake. And my older gs was just lovely and chatted to us as if he had seen us yesterday and we haven't spoken for 18 months. And sent me a lovely caring message tonight. He's only 13!
I have read everyone's posts and I can see I'm not the only one having a bad time. I am thinking about you all and all on BD hopefully will send you some replies tomorrow.
EllieAnne big hugs.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 10-Dec-23 20:42:49

EllieAnne So sorry you're so low. Your poor GD, I hope the school is taking it seriously and will be sorting out the bullies (my own GD was bullied this year, and we were so upset for her). Could your GD take self-defence lessons, when she feels able to? Girls can be so nasty to each other. Have you been in touch with your daughter to "break the ice"? Thinking of you - we are all always here.

nadateturbe I'm so pleased you had a nice time with your family. Chocolate cake and loved ones - perfect. Your GS sounds a lovely young man.

nadateturbe Sun 10-Dec-23 21:08:08

Thanks HVDY one afternoon was better than nothing! Have to be thankful. Talk tomorrow.

Wyllow3 Sun 10-Dec-23 23:55:44

Good night Wyllow3 x

Scaredycat Mon 11-Dec-23 11:36:27

Hi all.
SweetPeaSue- your Son sounds a brilliant cook - what a great menu. Its shows how good you are as he must have watched you a lot when he was growing up.
We have a new system at our surgery and it seems to work well. Phone calls still exist but now we can send in a message with our problems and it will be triaged and anything that needs immediate attention is seen that day. It is a method that is being tried out and it is so much better.Hopefully all surgeries will adopt it. Good luck with your GP this morning.
Nadateturbe- I,m glad you were able to enjoy a lovely afternoon with your family. What a delightful GS you have. When he’s bigger he may be able to travel over to visit you.
Safe journey home.
HVDY- sometimes a boring day is what we need- I overdid it yesterday and am exhausted today. I,m going out for lunch with one of our DiL so taking it easy- that is after cleaning the bathroom etc- will I ever learn.😩
Is today you have Chubby Chops? If so enjoy every minute - such precious times.
Doodle- hope you get your phone call today. Sleep will probably do your DH good and I think you’re right the cold does make you a bit lethargic. It’s the dark days too isn’t it- we are like little moles in holes!
Sorry your Son and his wife have Covid- hope they are not too poorly. My eldest GD has just had it for the first time- she’s a teacher so has escaped it all this time!!
Hope you were able to arrange a lift for DH for Thursday.
EllieAnne- your poor GD- what a terrible thing for her to go through. To hear a young person say what she did is so sad - hopefully she will get help quickly. What kind of children can behave so cruelly to her.
Things are so difficult for you maybe ADs would help - i think we can all feel your unhappiness . Maybe if you reach out to your daughter - who obviously cares very much - she might be relieved to chat to you. Please try and eat- doesn’t matter what- you need to look after yourself.
Sending a hug from me tooxxx
Wyllow- sending hug to you too- hope you are able to talk to somebody - xxx
Candy,Whiff,Allsorts, Nanny, and everybody who comes to BD hope today is kind to you

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 11-Dec-23 13:23:54

Doodle DH is a qualified electrician, but also good at DIY - he did a lot in our house, years ago. Hope your son and his wife won't be unwell for long. Hope you manage to get a lift sorted out for Thursday.

ScaredyCat It's tomorrow, Thursday and Friday with Chubby Chops smile. Have a nice lunch with your DIL.
Make sure to have a dessert grin. I've got some cleaning up to do soon. I'm waiting until DH goes out to Asda shortly. I did aqua aerobics this morning, and now my hip flexors are killing me (far too much sitting around all day).

Hope ALL BDers are ok today x

Doodle Mon 11-Dec-23 19:07:05

nadateturbe shame you didn’t have a better trip but at least you enjoyed one afternoon and got to meet up with the family.
HVDY handy to have someone close who can do all these jobs. Your sons are lucky their dad helps out.
Actually took DH to the podiatrist today, I phoned this morning and they agreed to fit him in. They say it may be weeks before his feet heal, ☹️
You’re so good doing aqua aerobics. I need some exercise too.
Have a lovely time with the baby tomorrow.
Scaredycat interesting system at your surgery. Hope it helps you get an appointment when you need one.
Hope you had a nice lunch with your DIL. Did you go somewhere local?
Son and DIL not feeling at all well so spent most of the day in bed but at least I’ve sorted DH’s podiatry so I only have myself to look after on Thursday.

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 11-Dec-23 21:43:31

Doodle Oh, your poor husband. Has he got anything to help with the pain in his heels (tablets, soft insoles, bandages?)?

Just found out we'll be having baby at 7.30 tomorrow morning - so we'll need to be up early (DH can go and pick her up whilst I faff about doing my face and hair grin), so we're going to go to bed at 10, then I'll get up at 1am to leave the fox food out (yes, I know I'm mad), so the cat will hopefully have been and gone and missed it grin.

Hope ALL BDers have a restful night x

Doodle Mon 11-Dec-23 21:47:50

HVDY yes he’s on cocodamol and his feet have dressings and bandages on them. He’s not supposed to wear anything on his feet but has to wear his slippers to get to the bathroom and back. Wow you really treat that fox well.
That’s an early start with the little one. Have a good time.
Wyllow Sweetpeasue and all thinking of you x
Ellie Anne I hope your DGd is ok and her mum has been able to sort something out with the school to protect her. Poor girl

Wyllow3 Mon 11-Dec-23 23:13:41

Nice to have waves and warm waves back, night night BD's. xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 12-Dec-23 10:37:57

Doodle Your husband's feet must be very sore. I took the fox's food out at 1 (liver, chicken legs, jam sandwich), and he was hiding in next door's garden. He was at the food in about 2 minutes! So was that damned cat.

How's everyone this morning? Baby was here at 7.30. We've played, she's been chuckling a lot. Just gone to sleep now. x

Whiff Tue 12-Dec-23 12:48:11

Have been reading about you all and sorry you are going through so much at the moment. It seems it's one thing on top of another for most of you. Glad Wyllow you are still checking in.

Hopefully this will make you smile it was in my 3 year grandson's advent calendar this morning. Lot of jokes about mommy liking wine.

Take care of yourselves and hope you all feel better soon and your loved ones.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 12-Dec-23 18:21:49

Whiff I love that smile Hope you're keeping well.

How's everyone been? We took Chubby Cheeks out in the car (in the new seat we bought) but it was raining so we stayed undercover at a large shopping outlet place. Son2 collected her at 5, so we're going to have out dinner soon. It's been a good (but long) day x

Sweetpeasue Tue 12-Dec-23 19:22:11

Whiff Thankyou. Little children 's comments can be so funny and innocent. Guaranteed to make us smile.
EllieAnne So sorry about your DGD. It's dreadful how bullying can be so bad in schools. So terrible cruel. I really hope she gets some good support and help and she can overcome such a terrible experience. You must feel so angry and helpless. I too sending a hug.x
HVDY You are so kind to that fox and I'm sure he/she would miss his midnight feasts if you were to stop. Difficult having the cat noticing though. Your fox has competition! I remember my baby GC chuckling. It's so easy to make them laugh and so funny . I remember my GD in fits of giggles just by me saying -Betty Crocker- in a funny way.😂
Scaredycat Hope you had the energy to enjoy lunch with your DIL. Thankyou my DH got through to surgery a minute past 8! Plus 1st in queue!! Both had our appts and DH had AD dosage raised and gives in his BP readings tomorrow. I got my extra Oramorph as had ran out before repeat prescription. GP not got PM letter yet.
Doodle Your DH's feet must be so awful. I remember my aunt getting extremely sore shin after a knock and having dressings changed for quite a long time but they did get better. Hope that's encouraging. He must feel so low about it as he will want to get onto his feet and walk again to gain strength and balance. So glad you managed to get him the podiatry appt. How are you doing with your pacemaker?
Nadateturbe I'm sure that afternoon with your DD and family was one to cherish. So sorry you couldn't have more. Are you home again now? You will be so glad to have some home comfort .

Had quite a bit of pain yesterday and thought I wouldn't make a appt with new Psychologist this morning but got there even though fully doped with mess. This one at the centre is fully trained(not trainee) and so glad I made it. He listened to my experience and let me talk and has completely taken on board how it has affected me. I can't tell you what a relief it is to be fully heard. He told me I sounded as if it all happened yesterday and that's still how I feel -because of the ongoing pain and not being vindicated. He really understands. I will have 12 weekly appts with him from 2nd Jan and more if needed. He's going to help me!

I so hope everyone has a peaceful night and Wyllow I think of you every day.
CandyNanny**Allsorts**Fishwife Hoping you are OK too.
