The only way to get rid of Morton's neuroma or Morton's Metatarsalgia is by surgery. You will not regret it. Unfortunately you will be on the NHS waiting list for life so if you could afford to pay, I would get it done soon.

Charleygirl, the injection was enough to sort mine. I have had no problems since having the procedure done about fifteen years ago.

I had first injection under Ultra sound done twice then no option Surgery.
I was also suffering from other issues with my foot due to op I had in my 20's so all sorted together all done via NHS about 5 yrs ago.
At that time I didn't wait long, all good now. It's a day case which hopefully list not as long as one with admission /bed space.

Mary doll I found your post very reassuring as the ultrasound guided injection has been advised for me.
I will look at Sole Bliss shoes. I haven’t heard of this company. I do wish there was a shop where I could try on lots of styles rather than order on line.

Some Sole Bliss have deeper toe boxes than others.
I phoned them to check which ones to look at.

Shoe wise - Sole Bliss.
Hideously expensive but often available barely worn on Vinted/Ebay etc.
You need to know your size obviously if buying privately.

I had one removed on the NHS, using an ultrasound to inject it with steroids.
I was fortunate that my rheumatologist diagnosed it and referred me to the foot clinic.
The procedure was successful and I had little pain afterwards. The only painful part was the injection to numb it.
It was no big deal and such a relief to get rid of the pain.

Thank you for this. I’ve been told that an injection would be offered and surgery would only be considered if that was unsuccessful. This is with a private podiatric surgeon.

I had a Morton's Neuroma - I was never offered an injection, but told I needed an operation (maybe because I went private and they just wanted my money?!). I had the operation, all went well and I have had no problems since (had the op about 15 years ago). If you do have to resort to surgery, don't worry that at first you still have pain in the foot - it was about 12 months before my foot settled down and was pain free!
