Greetings hipsters and kneeknockers. It is with great pleasure and some surprise that we have reached episode number 4 in this 🧵. Welcome to all.
Onwards and forwards we go. Advice, support, encouragement and everything else available here.

How are you Madmother.? Hope it all went well

Charleygirl5 Sun 07-Apr-24 22:56:08

Hopalong the worst is over you can only get better now. Isn't it lovely to be pain-free? You have the lighter and hopefully warmer and drier days ahead to get full strength in your muscles.

Madmother21 Mon 08-Apr-24 09:58:07

Thank you, silverlining, everything went well and I’m back home. It’s not going to be a fun ride but at least we’re coming into spring and just looking out the window makes us all feel better! Best wishes to you xxx

HopalongKaty Mon 08-Apr-24 11:16:52

@Madmother21 I am glad things went well. I just popped up to the hospital for a wound check and all is well. I’m discharged now by everybody! Hooray I can get on with my life.

Charleygirl5 Mon 08-Apr-24 11:26:59

Madmother at least it is all over and you have spring and summer to slowly get better. Many moons ago I had my first knee replaced in November and it was not easy getting out and about with a lot of frost.

Aveline Mon 08-Apr-24 13:10:42

So glad to hear from the newer 'kneesies'. Sounds like it's all progress. Very early days yet of course for Madmother. Good luck with the rehab.

My new hip celebrates its second birthday this week. No regrets, it’s done me proud. 😊 and a good time of year to have it done.
Glad all is going well Madmother and hopalong. Lots to look forward to.

Happy birthday knee! 🎈

silverlining48 Tue 09-Apr-24 16:17:58

Do you mean hip Aveline? If so, thanks 🤩

silverlining48 Tue 09-Apr-24 16:19:07

And still we aren’t anywhere on Active. Nit even at the bottom. It’s a miracle this thread has managed a fourth iteration.

Aveline Tue 09-Apr-24 17:01:33

Oops! Obviously I've got knees on the brain. That doesn't sound great!! Anyway - happy hippy birthday 🎈

silverlining48 Tue 09-Apr-24 17:15:39

Thankyou grin

silverlining48 Tue 09-Apr-24 17:17:06

Just a quick bump as we are racing to the bottom.

silverlining48 Tue 09-Apr-24 17:17:49

So annoying …..

silverlining48 Tue 09-Apr-24 17:20:02

8 posts one after the other, yet still we’re dropping fast.
Greetings to you all

Charleygirl5 Tue 09-Apr-24 18:50:29

I agree, it is so irritating.

HopalongKaty Tue 09-Apr-24 22:18:50

On my phone this thread is the fifth on the Health forum.
Today we went out to celebrate my recovery with a delicious curry. I’m happily running up and down stairs, climbing ladders and clambering over my boat. I feel normal again!! Ten weeks and it’s going well.

Madmother21 Wed 10-Apr-24 10:17:39

Such good news, Hopalong xx

silverlining48 Wed 10-Apr-24 18:01:50

It’s the Active page where it ought to be showing….but rarely is.

Hopalong I was told two years ago this week ( hip hop op) that it takes between 18 months and two years to properly heal so while I can now run up and down stairs, ladders and boats, without fear, you really do need to take care for a while longer.
I did a 14,000 step walk up too many hills today and am fine.

Silverlining48 I have been ill for four years going through treatment for two different breast cancers so I am not prepared to waste any time now I am finally well and pain free! I have a lot of catching up to do. Tonight I went out on the cycle club pub ride and DH took me for a celebratory McFlurry afterwards. I’m living the dream here!
Obviously I don’t want to hurt myself but getting my fitness back is really important to me.

Charleygirl5 Thu 11-Apr-24 10:08:52

Advice please. My sister in law needs bil hip replacements, obviously not at the same time but how long do you think she would be off work, teaching?

silverlining48 Thu 11-Apr-24 12:06:17

I understand hopalong. flowers

Nannytopsy Fri 12-Apr-24 17:55:42

Lots of happy knees and hips here!
I had a notification on 2nd April that because of the dental treatment I have been completely removed from the waiting list, have to go back to the beginning with an initial consultation and go onto the bottom of the list. I was at the top!
I haven’t been able to contact anyone other than a real jobsworth booking clerk. I am sincerely hoping the consultant’s secretary is finally back at work on Monday. Even my dentist is furious and wants to speak to the consultant! I had the first 3 hours of treatment yesterday 🫣 but it’s done!

Aveline Fri 12-Apr-24 18:12:28

Oh no that's awful Nannytopsy. I hope you have better luck with the Consultants secretary.

silverlining48 Fri 12-Apr-24 18:24:53

I am sure you will not have to go the end again, that’s unfair. I think a friendly with the secretary will sort things out though there is an issue with dental treatment and medical procedures. If anyone is having surgery, we/they should always get teeth checked beforehand, which you have done nannytops. Good luck and keep in touch.
