Greetings hipsters and kneeknockers. It is with great pleasure and some surprise that we have reached episode number 4 in this 🧵. Welcome to all.
Onwards and forwards we go. Advice, support, encouragement and everything else available here.

Ha! Up there at no 2. Blink and you will miss it as we race down to the bottom:

Already on our way……

Siverlining if I am looking for this thread I never look on Active. We are usually on the way out at the very bottom but as I said before, I know my place in life.

My joints are enjoying this warm weather.

Mine too Charley though have had bad pain along side my new hip and await an mri. Had two bad trips, well actually heavy falls onto hard surfaces and something isn’t right. X ray shows no damage to hip though. Phew!
As for looking for our thread I just look fir the dancing girls 👯‍♀️
Which saves a lot of time searching for it.
If we get to thread no 5 we definitely need those 👯‍♀️

It’s me on the left by the way smile

Redcar Thu 08-Aug-24 17:11:06

You’re near the bottom of the Active page!

silverlining48 Thu 08-Aug-24 17:45:56

At least we are hanging by a thread. It often needs 3 or 4 posts before we even get a look in on active. Twas ever thus….

Charleygirl5 Thu 08-Aug-24 22:26:39

silverlining, please you must be more careful or I will be popping in to tie you to a chair!

I know you probably walk as I do, eyes down because our roads and pavements are so uneven.

Six weeks to the day since my tkr. Don't need support walking around my flat and (very safe) patio, and am using one crutch outside but have been getting a bus to a nearby college, with lots of level surfaces and a lack of students at the moment, to practise walking without support. (My immediate outside area is still a nightmare tangle of holidaymakers and dogs just now.) I try just a few paces to test the waters, so to speak. My knee feels good, very little pain now, but my hip on that side is complaining a bit as it adjusts. No surprises there.

I'm generally behaving - find it difficult as I have so much energy - so am enlisting one of my sons to help today with clearing my overgrown little grove in the wood above my home, which is part of my tenancy, lucky me! I can't safely climb up there yet but it's one of the treats I'm looking forward to in a month or so. it overlooks the rooftops towards the sea.

Aveline Fri 09-Aug-24 08:43:22

All good progress - don't be tempted to overdo it!

silverlining48 Fri 09-Aug-24 09:25:59

Eyes are always down Charley which is a shame as I miss a lot of lovely scenery on the way. However it only takes a seconds distraction…..
Mizuna good news, glad all is going well. Keep using your crutch or stick when out as it warns others they need to take care.
We are packed up for a weeks break to the seaside, no doubt crowded , but it’s beautiful there, and a lovely break. We leave in 5 minutes.
Bye fir now and take care all x

Enjoy your holiday and if you do not swim enjoy a paddle or two. The one day heatwave should be pleasant, sitting in the shade enjoying a cold drink.

Aveline Fri 09-Aug-24 20:33:18

Ooh a paddle! Lovely sunshine

Mainwin Fri 09-Aug-24 22:58:15

Hello everyone, I am Day 17 since my total knee replacement. My ligament was broken and had to be sown. I am having to wear a brace for 8 weeks. Has anyone else had this? Since I have had my staples taken out I am finding it difficult to put weight on my operated leg and am in pain when using my walker whereas b4 this I was doing very well. Thank you for listening.

Aveline Sat 10-Aug-24 07:11:20

Oh dear. I didn't have that complication. Sounds nasty. I'm not sure why the staple removal should have given rise to more pain. It's still very early days though. Take it easy.

Mizuna Wed 14-Aug-24 08:51:10

I had the loveliest dream last night in which I strode out without sticks or crutches, it felt wonderful. I'm getting close to it, I know! Another ten days I reckon, after I've had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon. 😁

Mizuna Wed 14-Aug-24 09:23:33

Bump

Aveline Wed 14-Aug-24 09:36:33

Fingers crossed for you Mizuna

silverlining48 Sun 18-Aug-24 10:45:07

Mizuna your dream will come true……

Mizuna Sun 18-Aug-24 11:11:39

Ha ha, you're absolutely right silverlining! 😁

Charleygirl5 Sun 18-Aug-24 11:17:29

Mizuna you will be in good shape for winter. At least the weather is fresher and less muggy.

Mizuna Sun 18-Aug-24 11:35:15

Yes it's lovely and fresh here in Cornwall today.

silverlining48 Sun 18-Aug-24 13:31:54

Ah Cornwall, was there in June. Lovely part of the world.
Enjoy. 😊

silverlining48 Sun 18-Aug-24 13:33:46

Mainwin are you feeling any better ? If not maybe check with your doctor. Are you having any physio?
