It was such a relief to just dismiss the pressure and guilt about exercising. Of course walking is exercising so it's good to walk about doing everyday activities plus maybe add in an extra walk round the house, then maybe, walk round the garden, introduce some steps etc. Take it easy. My consultant completely agreed with me and the physio wrote that I was taking over my own rehabilitation. I was and it worked.
Interestingly, the hospital I was in specialised in orthopaedic surgery and when I was in for my hip op I was surprised to find that the out patients physio dept had been closed down and physios made redundant. There were two for in patients to show newly operated knee and hip patients how to use sticks (no crutches) and go up and down stairs but that was all.
