For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

nadateturbe Lovely. I hope she enjoyed her celebration. Was the party at her home?

EllieAnne I've got him a tour of a brewery he likes, in Derbyshire. I'll perhaps book a couple of nights somewhere to coincide.

Wyllow3 Good to see you're still posting.

Hope ALL BDers manage to see a bit of sunshine today x

Wyllow3 Thu 01-Feb-24 00:42:04

Night night warm waves as ever xx

Ellie Anne Wed 31-Jan-24 23:51:19

Long day. Bit of a fall out with dh this morning then a busy day doing housework and ironing at s1 s house. Mt up with some Christian friends tonight to watch a video but my heart wasn’t in it.
Hvdy my youngest will be 40 in April. Haven’t even thought about a present yet. They like weekends away so maybe something like that.
Whisky bottle is empty but it’s lasted a quite a well. Going to bed with a hot water bottle.

nadateturbe Wed 31-Jan-24 23:24:00

Hello everyone.
A very late visit. Made a huge effort to attend my sisters 70th birthday party. Trying to unwind still. Left shortly before 9pm.
Talk to you all tomorrow. Hope you have a peaceful night.xx

HowVeryDareYou2 Wed 31-Jan-24 21:44:04

nadateturbe The reason the doctor said that last Fri was that sometimes, kidney infections need to be treated with intravenous antibiotics - I expect they work much quicker, too. I've got 2 more days of tablets, so I expect I'll be fine, thanks. I'm impatient. How has your day been? Living by the sea must be lovely.

ScaredyCat Have you/do you ever visit your son at his home? Do you FaceTime? (I say that as though I know how to do that, which I don't)

Doodle Hope your cough improves soon. Are you taking anything for it? (although I don't think anything really works except drinking lots) How nice to watch the birds like that. I like to watch the squirrels in the mornings.

SweetpeaSue I read up (Google) about kidney infections, the tiredness can last for a couple of weeks. There's a thread on here about Pharmacists being able to prescribe different medications - one lady said she became unconscious when she had a kidney infection, ended up in hospital with Sepsis shock. Glad you managed to get to the book club. I hope your husband's GP is correct (I don't think he is) and that the Amitriptyline help. Having headaches all the time isn't normal, is it?

I'm determined to go out tomorrow, to the day centre place. I don't really feel like it but don't want to fall into that thing of not bothering to make the effort to do things. Hope ALL BDers - new and old, have a restful night x

Sweetpeasue Wed 31-Jan-24 20:09:07

Sorry, correction, should be Mayo Clinic website.

Sweetpeasue Wed 31-Jan-24 20:05:34

HVDY It's doesn't seem right that you have this persistent weakness. I know how much you wanted to be out today. I too think if you're not better tomorrow perhaps another trip to GP. I think when you're not feeling well the whole rigmarole of phoning and fighting the queue is an extra burden. So sorry.
Doodle Your cough is a blasted nuisance. You don't get a break lately. Sincerely hope it doesn't affect you DH too much. Always seems something to worry about. Keep that picture of you both getting to the river to watch the birds in your mind.
Scaredycat So sorry about all your goodbyes. I wish you less of them and more reunions. I'm not sure what I expect of a Urologist as know there isn't a cure if it's IC/Bladder pain syndrome , but as it can be progressive, if I do have it I think I need more than pain management. Hope you are coping OK yourself with the AF.
Nadateturbe The little cafe on the east coat of Antrim sounds a beautiful place .I've never been to Ireland and I've often thought how gorgeous some of the coastline is. The sea is healing ,I think. Hope you're feeling stronger today. Thankyou I did sleep much better last night and only needed the painkillers once. Its a private Urologist I'm booking though he hasn't appts until March.

I've had a decent day today and went to Reading group as couldn't go last week. It meant I couldn't be there at DH's GP appt as he could only get afternoon. He didn't want me to miss it and insisted I go. Next week it clashes with Psychology appt so need to put psychology first.
Anyway GP seems to still insist his headache is stress related(he cited my probs) even though DH said he didn't believe it was. DH been told to take Amitriptyline for a few weeks for headache. I'm really not happy as he told DH again that Giant Cell Arteritis is usually in one temple. DH has it one side then goes to the other . Looked it up again tonight on Maya medical website and it distinctly says, under symptoms, 'usually both temples'.
He's a nice GP but he's wrong here. I don't understand why he is being so stubborn about it. We'd told him we were worried about it a couple of weeks ago. Sorry for going on.

Hope everyone ,old and new ,BDs have a peaceful night.x

Doodle Wed 31-Jan-24 18:51:35

HVDY cough is ongoing. I’m not I’ll in the sense of temperature of aches or pains just this deep hacking cough. DH is coughing more 😱. Hope he isn’t as bad as I’ve been.
I know what you mean about fresh air. I would love a walk by the river. Do you think you should phone the GP again if you’re feeling no better.
Nadateturbe thank you RLS was better last night. Glad you had a little treat in a cafe.
Scaredycat your son sounds happy and content. What more can you ask….except perhaps to see him more often. Could you travel to see him sometimes?
Yes not a lot going on in the river but love watching the birds, there are lots of gulls at the moment. My favorite. I could sit and watch them swooping and flying off together for hours.

Scaredycat Wed 31-Jan-24 15:26:16

Hi all.
Nadateturbe- thanks for the flowers- yes it’s always sad to say goodbye I,ve had too many goodbyes in my life . My Son is very content with his work, wife and dogs and living where he does. That’s all you can wish for your children I think.
So pleased you had a nice day by the sea and just dropped everything so you could enjoy the lovely weather and scenery. A Happy Day. Those days are to be treasured and feel a bit like little holidays don’t they.
HVDY- so sorry you still feel poorly- you have had so much to bear in the past that when you say you feel bad you really must do. If you’re still not right tomorrow maybe call the surgery.
My Son lives abroad in Europe several hours away hence the infrequent visits. Lovely to have your Son pop in- Big birthday for him this year.
We feel as you do about having another cat- but do miss a furry face around. We wouldn’t want another house cat either and our village street is dangerous for cats.
Hope you feel better tomorrow.
Doodle- yes it’s always hard to say goodbye isn’t it- he got home safely last night.
Your poor DH RLS must be horrible and very wearying- glad he had a good sleep in the end.
Hope you are feeling more comfortable today and that it won’t be too long before you are both able to,get to the sea again. I expect the river is quieter this time of year but still nice to watch.
SPS- thanks for your flowers too. Sad but happy he was here. Nice to have a visit with your Son you are such a kind considerate person.
Good to hear the Psychology appt went well and you have made the decision re private appt. You,ll be able to chose the person you think will help you most- waiting til June is too long.
Hoping your DH got some help today from the surgery- well done with the”gentle” persuasion.
Wyllow- kind thoughts on the way to you.

Candy,EllieAnne,Whiff, Nanny,Allsorts ,Derbyand all those who post occasionally or just read wishing you a peaceful evening

nadateturbe Wed 31-Jan-24 14:56:19

Perhaps you should see the doctor again HVDY if you think you should feel better by now.

HowVeryDareYou2 Wed 31-Jan-24 11:59:50

How is everyone? I still feel weak and odd, so am staying in again. The doctor last Friday said that if I had no improvement after 24 hours, I'd need to go to the hospital. With hindsight, perhaps I should have done so (and waited hours to be seen, I expect). Hope ALL BDers are having a decent day x

Wyllow3 Wed 31-Jan-24 00:31:43

Best nights possible all BD's xx

nadateturbe Tue 30-Jan-24 22:45:25

HVDY I can imagine you're not happy being stuck inside so long. I do hope you get out tomorrow. I'm sure you were glad to see your son.
Perhaps you could just borrow your neighbours cat sometimes!

nadateturbe Tue 30-Jan-24 22:36:01

Doodle I'm glad your husband got back to sleep for a decent length of time. RLS must be awful to sleep with.
I hope your cough and pains are easing. And I hope you get for that walk soon. We went out and didn't care about tidying up or anything, more important to make the most of feeling well enough to enjoy the sunny day. It was a little cafe on the east coast of Antrim, beautiful scenery. Husband had a mini fry and I had a cheese croissant.

nadateturbe Tue 30-Jan-24 22:28:18

I do hope your husband gets some help Sweetpeasue. Glad he listened to you.
And I hope the private neurologist can come up with something helpful. . It's terrible needing to take so many painkillers without much of a break.
Seeing the children always lifts us doesn't it.
I hope you manage some painfree sleep tonight. x

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 30-Jan-24 22:18:10

ScaredyCat You'll miss your son but I'm glad you were able to see him and have a nice time. Doe he live far away? I'd love to have a cat (if only a stray would turn up like my Mr Cooper did) but then we've got used to being able to have all the internal doors closed, not having the smell of cat food in the house, not having to keep getting up and down to let a cat in/out. Hope your GGS has a lovely birthday. He's a brave boy to cope with his health problems.

nadateturbe Good that you felt able to get out for a while today, nice to have a chat with a friend. Have a rest now.

SweetpeaSue Nice that you saw your son. Hope your husband gets to see or at least speak with a GP about his headaches.

Doodle I'm glad the Lansoprazole is working for your husband. How's your cough?

Son2 (the one with the baby) called in on his way home from the office (he only goes there about once a fortnight). Nice to chat with him. He'll be 40 in March so I've been wondering what to get him. Got a few ideas now.

Hope ALL BDers have a good rest. I must get some fresh air tomorrow (been indoors since Friday, it's driving me mad) x

Doodle Tue 30-Jan-24 21:43:10

HVDY good idea to stay in and relax if you’re still feeling under the weather.
Scaredycat how hard it must have been to part from your dear son again. You must miss him a lot. Glad you all had a good time together though.
RLS was a problem again last night but then DH went back to sleep and slept through till gone 9 this morning. Lansoprazole seems to be working fine thanks.
Hope your GGS has a wonderful birthday. He deserves it. 😊
nadateturbe just reading about you walking in the sunshine on the coast cheered me up. Can’t wait to do the same myself as soon as we can.
Sweetpeasue glad you had a better day and got to see your son. Hope your DH gets to see a GP tomorrow and gets help with his head.
Wyllow sending a hug. x
Sleep well all

Sweetpeasue Tue 30-Jan-24 19:02:41

Scaredycat I hate the goodbyes and you will feel so sad. Like Nadateturbe 💐 So glad you've all had precious time together. Your GGS is a little trooper -hope he has a great day tomorrow(my DGS will be same age in around 5mths).
Had a good appt with psychologist thanks and have decided going to arrange private appt with Urologist.
Doodle Oh I do hope you both had a restful night. I'm another who takes Lansoprazole. How is your chest and shoulder pain today? I'm crossing fingers your DH doesn't get that cough.
HVDY You must have a really bad infection -I'm so sorry you still feel so weak. Your body must need this rest to get well so be kind to yourself. Glad the painting is helping.
Nadateturbe Lovely to hear you managed to get out and meet your aunt and art friend. Good that you make yourself rest when you know you need to. My DH has to muddle through when
I'm not well. He can't cook though. I know it makes you feel helpless.
EllieAnneCandy**Whiff Hope you've been OK today.
Wyllow Good to see you popped in again.x

Although had to take 3 doses painkiller through night and morning had a much better day which I'm thankful for. Got to my appt and then visited my son (he got back Fri night but like to give them weekend to themselves) Just a quick visit but makes me feel better for seeing him.
DH very 'dopey' with headache this afternoon and he's ringing GP tomorrow. Some bullyingpersuasion
was called for.

Wishing all a peaceful night.x

nadateturbe Tue 30-Jan-24 18:16:08

Got out in the sun for a walk and lunch at the coast. smile Met a lady from art and her aunt, nice chat.
Home on bed now, poor husband doing all the work today.

nadateturbe Tue 30-Jan-24 18:12:24

Oh you poor thing HVDY. It's not like you to feel so weak. Take it easy. xx

nadateturbe Tue 30-Jan-24 18:10:37

Scaredycat here's a little bunch of flowers, I'm sure it was sad to see your son leave 💐. Precious times indeed.

Scaredycat Tue 30-Jan-24 17:43:57

Hi all- well we have an empty house again as my lovely Son has gone home this morning. We will all miss him so much but it’s been really good to have him here- precious times.
I feel very lucky at the moment though as so many of you are suffering pain one way or another.
Nadateturbe- I think you are wonderful how you deal with your condition and always show such kind concern for us all. I hope you feel a bit better today and able to do a bit of painting- is it the same picture still?
HVDY- I,m glad your kidney pain has lessened but don’t overdo it too soon- make sure you rest and get stuck into the Heroes!! Has looking after Pandora given you a tempting taste of furry company again?
SweetPeaSue- I can’t believe you have to wait until June for your Urology Appt. Maybe it’s worth considering a private one so you can get the physician of your choice. You need some sort of peace of mind .
Hope today you have a good psychiatry consultation- I seem to remember you found him very understanding last time.
Thank you it was special Fam times- trying not to be sad but counting my blessings.
Doodle- how is DH getting on with the Lanzaprazole? I think I read somewhere it is more effective than Omeprazole. It seems to be helping my DH.
Do hope your pain wears off but if it’s still bad tomorrow maybe call the Doc. Especially if DH is coughing too. I so wish you could just be able to have some well deserved rest and quiet times together . Hope the RSL wasn’t so troublesome last night.
EllieAnne- hope you,ve been able to chat to a friend - I,m so sorry you sound so lonely.
Wyllow3 - hope you are ok - love to see you have posted every morning.

Just been to my GD to drop off our GGS birthday presents for tomorrow. Can’t believe he’s 9 already! He’s doing really well at the moment - so proud of how he is dealing with his health problems.

Peaceful nights to all BDs old and new or just reading

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 30-Jan-24 16:51:44

How has everyone's been? I still feel weak so have stayed in and done a bit of painting, watched tv, dozed a bit. Can't believe how this has affected me. Hope everyone's been ok x

Wyllow3 Mon 29-Jan-24 23:57:17

Another goodnight to you all xx

nadateturbe Mon 29-Jan-24 22:50:00

Goodnight to all of you, also Whiff Scaredycat EllieAnne Wyllow3 and everyone else who reads BD. xx
